Truth be told...En Sabah is correct. Scalpers are mythical boogeymen that are difficult to truly spot. You may find one or two out there in the wild, but nine times out of ten...it's not a scalper that getting to the toy before you do, it's because the toy is often at times intercepted by an employee before it ever leaves the retailer's warehouse. I've seen it happen while working for a retailer at one time, and was even guilty of gaining a few hard to find figures that never touched the pegs inside the store. Almost anyone who has worked in retail with an interest in toys is guilty of it at some point.

That said...because I had an unfair advantage for a while over other collectors, and was getting my hands on stuff others wanted before them, did that in turn make me a scalper? After all...none of my stuff ever went onto eBay or was sold at a flea market...but rather onto a nice clean space on the shelf waiting for them.

That said....if you really wanna see a photo of what a scalper really looks like...here you go.

Yeahs, your eyes aren't deceiving you. I even price checked it. Twenty three dollars...for a deluxe. Seriously...WTF TRU!?!?

At my store they are marked as $20 but yeah what the holy hell TRU? Back towards the end of the Generations line (around when Rattrap and Arcee were released) I remember deluxe figures only being like $15 tops and they were a lot better than these Combiner Wars deluxe offerings.

What do you guys think the chances are of getting a new Scorpion in the Legends line? I guess maybe after how they handled the Hobgoblin BAF they could go that route but I think they could also make it work as an individual figure.

Lufaverde 04-22-2016 07:36 PM

I would love to see a classic costume one just as normal figure tho, despite his tail I see him as a regular sized character hence him not needing to be a BAF

Lufaverde 04-22-2016 07:37 PM

But unfortunately I think our chances are low either way

Eh, not necessarily. I've seen many collectors from this very site and others who post about buying multiples of the same toy. "One to keep MOC, one to open, one to give to a friend, one to use as trade-bait, etc..."

With there being multiple waves of Legends a year devoted just to Spider-man characters, I'd say he's got a pretty decent shot.

BAD MOON 04-22-2016 08:42 PM

I'm hoping they re-make the Red Guardian figure into a new Kree soldier/original costume Captain Marvel. It would make the Kree soldier a bit big, but for an advanced alien race I'd be ok with that.

The incident I keep referring to was well over a dozen of the same item, so... I doubt that holds up.

No but its not hard to tell who they are.

Zoffy this ^......and this -------- > Also dont forget the sweaty pores, the dirty t-shirts and stressed out eyes. Also the guys with their salt n pepper ponytails and their prematurely senior citizen looking female companions.
:D

Funny you should mention that... i've seen these older looking guys with their much older significant others, numerous times around comic conventions and flea markets too...

You know its sad but true most comic collectors, toy collectors etc usually tend to look like the guy from the simpsons cartoon who runs android comics.

Nutimus Prime 04-23-2016 05:59 PM

Hey all. Just wanted to hop in and introduce myself. I've been a member for years but didn't post a lot because I only collected Transformers and formerly Gears of War. At least I told my wife I'd follow that rule. I also collected Ninja Turtles but it was with my daughter so I said it didn't count. :p

Last year I started collecting Marvel Legends and recently subscribed to Marvel Unlimited. I've been reading this thread since I contemplated MLs last summer so I feel like I already recognize most.

Not the greys I was talking about, but I see what you did there...lol.

Pravus Prime 04-23-2016 08:23 PM

Some time ago, I had gotten a Mockingbird online, only to find that it had defective hips (and would wobble and fall over all the time); I returned it and decided to wait.

Well, it paid off. I was actually out because of an MPerks (Meijers coupon app) for Lego Dimensions and found a Mockingbird figure (three actually). On sale for $14.99, then 10% off that with the MPerks coupon. This time around, great figure. I picked the one with the best paint aps and they are very good.

Great figure, she and Taskmaster are the hits of the year for me.

I'm not absolutely sure. I've had it for quite some time. I believe it may have came with some generic dollar store police figures.

OK ... so I was convinced the new Winter Soldier would have softgoods/cloth over his torso.
But comparing old and new pictures, it seems the first one just had some serious photoshopping done.

Welcome to the Club. Another expensive Hobby added onto Transformers(I sold my TF Collection 13 years ago for $4500). So its another one of those "Gotta Pay to Play" Hobbys.

Seamus McSeamus 04-24-2016 12:16 AM

I can't believe they made wings for Falcon and didn't stick them in the 3-pack.

Like, they're making two Falcon figures this year. They made wings. Why hold them back for one?

Howdy and thanks. I'm not very good at favorites because I'm a completionist. :p Gotta be able to play with an assortment of characters to pose, stage battles, etc. My daughter has fallen for our recent Galactus BAF tho so that's been fun to play with. I am a sucker for Captain America, Captain Marvel and Planet Hulk related figures.

Thanks. I collect third party Transformers too soooo I'm very familiar with... asking my wife for permission.

Chinsey-ness. Its like the armor they didnt put on hulk in the vision 3 pack, despite that hulk clearly having the headsculpt for that version.
