I find it odd that we UKers are usually the last to get these figures, yet the Civil War Cap wave came in about a month ago, and now these aswell. Interesting... Ah well, off to watch Civil War!

That is a pretty strange occurrence. Maybe, following the EU Disney 5pk exclusive, Hasbro has decided show more love to your region of the world.

Are you watching an early preview for Civil War, or are you just joking about your eagerness to see the movie?

Yeah, that's the one. There used to be a jovial guy there, very talkative and outgoing. I became friendly with him and he hooked me up every now and again. That said, I did buy a large amount of movies and box-sets. I haven't been there since 2008, so he may have moved on, but getting to know someone in there as a regular customer may net some discounts. They are a successful "mom & pop," repeat customers and creating relationships benefits their business model...maybe?

Ah yes, I think this is the difference between the types usually referred to as T joint and Y joint by a number of reviewers. The whole turn to move forward annoys the hell out of me too! I believe T joints are the modern version that do not require the turn but it is escaping me at the moment.

HAHA glad to see I am not the only one who does that.

It feels good to know I'm not alone in my petty madness. Someone has to strike back for the little guy and gal figure enthusiasts out there!

Removed the base from a Heroclix to make a Civil War Ant-Man for my eventual Civil War Legends display.

Since I couldn't watch the draft I figure I'd do one of my own, ML style. I was seriously bored. I did a random draw with characters and this is what came up.

X-Men

X-Force

I am looking to make a sky cycle for Hawkeye and I was looking for some suggestions on a base or parts to use. Looking to do old school.

I am certainly not complaining, as our retail distribution of MLs puts Donald Trump's fake tan to shame, it's that bad.

As for Civil War, it has just been released in Britain and I am happy to say I saw it last night! Sensational film, excellently written, beautifully directed. Black Panther fans WILL NOT be disappointed!

TheBlueMarvel 04-29-2016 01:52 PM

@Von

lol Man, U.K. retail must be a complete embarrassment if it trumps Drumpf in the buffoonery category.

I'm glad you enjoyed the movie. Still not certain whether I'll see it in the theater...I just saw BvsS in an "eleventh-hour" viewing before it leaves the big screen.

lol It wasn't that bad. Was it what I wanted in a DC/JL story? No, but it still managed to be entertaining. I am certain Civil War will be a significantly superior "super-flick."

Despite what so many people have said I'm still basically looking forward to seeing BvS when it comes out for renting/digital streaming. My expectations will be very low as it wasn't just the critics who tore that movie apart. I'm super excited though for Civil War as the early reviews, for what they're worth, are quite positive. Some people are most hyped for Spider-Man or Black Panther in the movie but while they're awesome I'm actually more hyped for the villains and more Scarlet Witch. Big Scarlet Witch fan here and her current comic series isn't as good as I was hoping it would be so hopefully they do her right in Civil War, AoU was a good first step but this needs to be more.

I LOVED the movie and I am not easily satisfied....i spoke EXTENSIVELY with people who didn't like it trying to get a feel for what was it about the movie they did not care for. It was damn short of epic for me.

TheBlueMarvel 04-29-2016 03:33 PM

@En Sabah
I'm not crazy about the art for Scarlet Witch. Additionally, I don't think they have a tight handle on how to manifest her powers. I blame much of this on how her character has been used over the years, so the current team gets a pass of sorts. I've been reading Strange, and while I was never crazy for Bachalo, the art is telling the story well enough and the arc feels like a decent foundation from which to build. I've only flipped through Witch, so I can't make a comparison between the two...not that you asked for one.

@Dark
One of my boys was really down on BvS. His expectations were too grand, in my opinion. However, the movie set him (and many others) up for disappointment with its choice of characters. They were too ambitious with their scope. Having Bats fight Supes, intro Diana, cameo a slew of other heroes, AND unleash Doomsday all in one outing inevitably creates a very convoluted and grandiose venture. That said, I enjoyed it for what it was. JL, baby! They're on the silver screen!

I agree TBM. Even in comics, the way I see it Wanda is potentially one of the top tier most powerful humans/mutants/inhumans (I.E., non hell lords or cosmic entities) and if they were being realistic about her abilities, most battles would be over in no time at all, that to me is why they developed the perceived flaw in her character of her instability. I can only imagine that in the film universe the same would be true. I'll give them a pass too because honestly if true to form it would be a five second movie and it's over because the side she's on won.

Oh, Wanda is extremely powerful...but unintentionally so. Strange's revelation at the end of Disassembled was consistent with Marvel's narrative for her through the years. She's untrained and taps reality bending energies. At one point, she was slated to be the host/avatar for Chthon, one the "Elder Gods." Being over-the-top powerful makes sense, from that context. Unfortunately, that Darkhold stuff is all but forgotten and now she's tough "just because"...

I wish they'd make up their minds and elevate her, corrupt her (I think she'd make a great villain to hero to villain again with "evil" as her permanent final status), or neuter her. This nebulous shit is bad form. If they're going to flesh her out, they need to commit to some consistency somewhere. Marvel desperately needs strong editorial leadership...

En Sabah Nerd 04-29-2016 04:51 PM

A big problem with the current Scarlet Witch comic is the changing of artist per issue, it drives a sense of discontinuity. I like the notion of Wanda being unstable with her powers but some writers take it too far and just label her as insane which is not the same condition. My ideal path for Wanda would involve her veering closer to the "dark side" and embracing said darkness without just flat out becoming a villain. In essence this would make her similar to someone like Ghost Rider, corrupted by darkness yet attempting to use it as a means of good and redemption.

VonPooten 04-29-2016 04:53 PM

Civil War is infinitely more successful than BvS, but that is really not BvS's fault. We've spent eight years and twelve (now thirteen) films building this Marvel universe, so the Russos are able to dive straight in and develop from the word go. Warner Bros didn't have that luxury. Although admittedly, they should not have bitten off that much that fast.

Wanda..... I don't want to spoil anything, but I shall say that it really is a Captain America film before it's an Avengers film. I'd go in expecting a sequel to The Winter Soldier before you hope for anything else. On saying that, Scarlet Witch's story is advanced, and she has some GREAT moments, but just don't expect a fifteen minute-long character feature for her.

As for villains... I want to say that either there aren't any, or that they all are. Pick your poison. :p

EDIT
@kenm2474
Gotta love cheap CGI in a 100 million dollar flick.

@En Sabah
Changing artists with each issue? That's a great way to kill a title...

What you describe sounds a lot like "Lawful-evil"...*D&D heads rejoice! Our gloom filled, funky smelling-basement-knowledge has its uses!*

I could see them ultimately going the route you've suggested, but Chthon ain't havin' no "halfway crooks!" As with Angela, I say they make her a "duchess" of some nether-region. She'd be infinitely more interesting to me that way. This failed/redemptive/repentant-hero stuff has gone on far too long.

VonPooten 04-29-2016 05:35 PM

@TBM, Ooh yes. Comic book Wanda is so encumbered by plotline-related mishaps that she really is on the brink of no return. There's a reason why they simply brought younger Jean to the present, in that 616 Jean's story was too bogged down for anyone. The Scarlet Witch needs a story cleansing, stat!

I would also like to clarify her role in Civil War. It isn't massively significant to this movie's plot, but it is clear that McFeely, Markus, and the Russo brothers have exceptional plans for her character. It seems like Wanda will grow to become one of, if not the most powerful character (Earth-wise) in the MCU.

I think it might actually be the prop claws he holds onto but they just might not be held tight enough here to match up to his hand the way they're meant to, maybe.

like in the Ultimate Avengers movie , thats how tall i think should be, But a figure that size would be more less life scale of a 6ft person to be in my standards XD but that might cost a lot of money

but like Trivial psychic said "to each his own" XD
The Giant man does look good though the design on the other hand i think its the helmet that bothers me , though slowly getting over it

for that to happen he would have to be as big as a human to scale with them, for him to hold hulk in his hand and even at that size the hulk would be too big.

I didn't even know Wolverine was going to be in the movie. Ugh!! Another reason why I am not looking forward to this movie.
