Toy Companies should make EVERY figure in the wave valuable

-Stormtrooper 6'' black series
-Carnage 6'' black series
-Black Widow 6'' black series

make these $20 retail and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY available and most of my annoyance will go away

I'm not sure why some characters are made into toys anyway, some of the waves they make up have only 1 cool figure and the rest lame-o figures.

Ok, so I'm just going to ignore the fact that 5 years ago was the death of the original Marvel Legends line and no one was paying anything for them at retail. Even still, I think your math is wrong, unless ML cost you about $30 apiece now. Five years ago they were about $10 - 15 USD each, depending on where you shopped. At worst they're only double the price.

A couple things you should keep in mind: it's not just Marvel Legends and it's not just Hasbro. Things are tough all over.

Without going into a bunch of detail, I will say this. X3 sucked and the toyline sucked with it. That made Hasbro gun-shy about doing any kind of toy line for an X-Men movie.

Hasbro's Marvel team also has a lot on their plates for this year, so something had to give and in the last few years, it's been X-Men.

There is no competition with Mattel because Mattel doesn't make Marvel toys.

I thought the XMO did well, a few of the movie biased wolvies peg warmed, but there was a hall of a lot of figures in there that were hard to find. If I blamed the recent movie line suck fest on anything it would be the fact that IM2 (although it was just about the most diverse movie line in marvel history) peg warmed like a son of a bitch! you can still find them at retail in some areas! I think that left a bad taste in Hasbro's mouth, that's why we get like six figures for Thor, and what 5 for cap? I thought XMO was a perfect movie line, about 20 figures, good mix of comic and movie versions, a couple two packs, all main villains represented. IM2 over produced and now were screwed. But I am amazed that Hasbro Isn't getting on the "Giant robot train" kids eat that stuff up!

Mattel used to make bafs, not any more. Hasbro can give less and charge more.

Hasbro irked me with no Nimrod, sentinels, any movie stuff. No Garfield head for ASM2, no Green Goblin, or a Baf rhino...just a reused hulk goblin.

I cannot be the only upset fan. I wish someone will take Hasbro to task about their lack if product.

I'd almost bet money that The Wolverine only got the toys it did because XMO:W did ok at retail.

I would certainly point to IM2's toy line as the reason all subsequent movie lines have been smaller in terms of scale, though.

I think this is an issue of distribution. MUs come in case assortments while Marvel Selects I assume come in full cases. The LCS gets a box of MUs and gets 1 maybe 2 hot figure to mark up, but when they order a case of MS then they get 12 of the same fig. So the need to buy MS immediately isn't so great compared to a MU fig.

How do you want toy companies to make all of the figures highly available? It's not an annoyance to the toy company. Each figure is priced the same so they get their money whether they sell all Black Widows or all WW2 Caps. It's probably retailer pressure (and probably mostly Walmart) that makes them ask for the main characters to be more heavily packed. For instance, retailers love Bumblebee from Transformers so they always ask for him to be in waves, but then we get the problem of TF:Prime where BBs were everywhere clogging the pegs.

Well, considering that Jubilee is built off the Spider-Girl body, and she herself has an accessory ( a bo staff, I think) I think it'd be fair if they put her out as a single release. Plus, lots of people paid 10 bucks for those Vintage Collection Ewoks! :D

Also I hate the hasbrotoyshop.com scalpers who buy all the rare figures and then insta-ebay them for double price

Fine post, your not wrong but that's what Hasbro wants. They want you to smile and accept Jubilee. They WANT you to be grateful and pay them their 20 bucks and give you less.

They are slowly implementing changes and the worse thing we can say is "At least we're getting....."

Baf Wasp will come in five pieces. Must buy wolverine and his variant for both arms....

What Hasbro and Mattel are doing is very similar to the music industry. Charging more and giving less. Its a rough comparison but ten years ago the music industry did everything to alienate their buyers. Long story short, Hasbro is not done cost cutting and charging more for less.

do you mean by not letting you steal music off of the internet? And no, until the economy improves or a magic dragon starts shitting plastic for Hasbro they have to do what they have to do to achieve a bottom line that's business man, it sucks sometimes, but understand they're doing there best, no one goes into business to alienate offend or turn off there consumer, they are there to make money, the best way is to do your best, within your budget to make a product your fans want and to keep them coming back. but when times get tough cuts have to be made, look out your window! there are a lot of people struggling to stay afloat. a lot of companies are going under. there's not a lot of people with the disposable income to buy toys right now. I think it will get better eventually.

Also: I've come to the conclusion that the new plain black packaging is designed to emulate the boxes of tec toys, IPad for example comes in a flat white box with the logo in glossy finish. My guess is that they're trying to appeal to the minimalist "tec" look modern kids are use to.

I understood what he meant by the music industry but where we have a differing opinion is that years ago artist put out a cd and the whole thing was good for like 10 bucks..now cd's have like 1 maybe 2-3 good songs yet cost 15-20. Why buy a cd when you can by just the 1 or 2 songs you like for a whole lot less? Same principle with the action figure market..we all wanted the Cap waves so we could build mandroid. but why would you put the PRIMARY piece of mandroid with a figure(female) that supposedly wont sale? and then only put her at 1 percase? I get that packaging is everchanging..given how Starwars come in the Black display or open boxes I see ML doing the same(which they have) its a neat gimmick that can appeal to those who open and those who keep MISB unlike earlier cardbacked or bubble encapsuled figures that once open there was noway they could get back into the casing.
However I do hoep that what you say comes to pass and it all gets better but reality says it will get worse before it gets better

its all part of the flow brother, in the 70's there were gas riots and people were sure we'd be dead by 1989, in the 80's and 90's the economy was booming, it rises and falls man there is a bust then a boom then a bust, it's the nature of cavitation. the wheel ain't stopped turning and short of some extinction level event I don't think it will any time soon. You have to take the long view, since the beginning of time everyone thinks they live in the end times, where the next bust will kill us, or we've reached the panicle of human achievement. Things might get worse, but if the do we have a lot more than MI figure assortments to worry about. But remember things do, and always will recover. 20 years from now no one will even remember these economic blips.

No black is much harder to paint over for example. I am using my knowledge of certain industries I work in. Nope, on simplistic, I respect your opinion, but I know for FACT Hasbro increased the cost of packaging because they used black boxes and more recycled packaging to win awards.

My use of mp3 and movies industry was appropriate. Gave consumers less, eventually they got fed up and decided to move away from traditional markets.

BTW I saw staples advertising 3D printers today in the papers and TV.

Yeah, eBay can be the source of all sorts of comedic material at times. Check that last one again. In particular, review the bidding history. Most of the bids are made by two people. One of whom sports a whopping "8" feedback history. Can we say this bidder might be running up the price? Who knows. I have won a couple of auctions that I though I lost upon their closing. Once, the seller informed me the winner could not pay and I was the second highest bidder. Another time, I determined my limit had been met and I was not going to bid-battle some idiot for the item. The auction closes and I lose end of story...except I find the item a few hours later in my "won items" list. As the seller, I have actually erased bids I believe to be made by sketchy bidders. Whenever I auction something off, I explicitly state that the bidder needs to have at least a few purchases and a good feedback history....

About the cost element of those Spidey figs. It never ceases to amaze me what some will pay for any collector's item (myself included, at times...although I've never paid nearly that much!). On the other side of the coin I'm cheered by this because the items I've collected have value. Value that maybe one day I'll cash in on (if it holds).

That's a good point. I've never really thought of that before, but it really wouldn't be hard to have a friend or loved one with their own account, or even an alt account, to artificially raise the "value" of their auction by putting in phony bids. Good observation.

This is why I have developed a sniper's mentality on Ebay over the years. Better to give it your best shot at the end of an auction when a person has less time to attempt such chicanery, than to go all in from the outright.

Yeah despite how much I like that mcfarlane spidey.i refuse to pay $600 for 6inches of plastic...I'm going to resort to customizing and making an even better one...and thats typically what I've been doing..snipe and hopefully other bidders wont realize

Believe it or not, I scored a Mcfar-Spidey (the dark version...which I prefer more) off eBay 2-3 yrs ago for $20 bucks. I attribute my good fortune to it being loose (but like new), a bad pic (grainy and dark), and the general ignorance of the eBay community (at the time) to the fact that it was the same sculpt as the highly coveted lighter shaded one. Additionally, if I remember correctly, it was a weird late night auction. Note to sellers: always make sure your auction ends in "prime-time" (between 7pm and 11pm)....that is if you want max exposure/money.

There's a bunch of dark McFarlane Spidey's from the usual China sellers on eBay right now.

Most have been ending at $40-50 but once those people willing to pay that much for it wash away they should be selling regularly for $30 shipped like Red Deadpools.

And thanks for The Watcher Marvel Select heads up. I'll wait until the month before they come out to pre-order. A few sites have them up for October re-release...Venom too.

i wish hasbro would get their act together.

i've seen SOOO many hasbro products that are having a TERRIBLE time selling.. they're even peg warming with MAJOR clearance mark downs, it's unbelievable. absolutely unbelievable.
