We all agree that Jaws is a good movie, but I think we've fact-killed it by now. Child-murderers don't get burned alive and come back to kill people in their dreams, intellectually disabled kids who drown don't come back as full grown zombie men with super strength and murderous intent, and giant great white sharks don't come so close to shore just to eat people. Just don't go to space or anything, we can't prove that you won't be impregnated by an alien life form or then be killed by what comes out of that person's chest.

Nightmare on Elm Street is base on South-Eastern immigrant (Cambodian) who came here in the 70's and 80's who started having nightmares and some started to die in there sleep. When ask about it they said it was an entity that follow them to the new world. Wes Craven heard about these stories on the news than created Freddy out of it.

in defense of the wrong turn movies, the occasional hillbilly will attempt to hunt murder and cannibalize you. And I've seen a few giant intellectually challenged folks that I wouldn't let hold a machete. ( my understanding by the way is that sharks don't like the taste of people, they are usually just "sampling" the victims.) not that that offers much solace to those that get there limbs bit off. And real premise or not, there is no one who watched Jaws for the first time and didn't think about it next time they went to the ocean.

Oh, I'm in middle Tennessee, and I live on in 40 acres of woods, and my neighbors are four brothers that live in a trailer, shoot guns, have a disturbing number of broke down cars, and wander the woods at night. For me Wrong Turn looks like a documentary.

The first Wrong Turn was neat, a nice retelling of The Hills Have Eyes type of story. The sequels however were all straight to DVD crap and Syfy originals, those have earned their foul reputation.

Has anyone heard if Dracula Untold has any good or bad reviews? I'd like to go see it this weekend if it's any good.

According to preliminary critic reviews, not kind. The highest reviews are like 6/10, a lot of them really didn't like it. Then again these are critics and this is an action movie from the looks of things, those seldom review in favor. I'd say wait to hear what regular movie-going people might have to say.

Everyone I know that has seen it at an advanced screening said it should have remained untold.

The previews for Dracula untold look good. My recommendation, bring a flask if it goes south just drink until it gets watchable. Oh and bring a DD.

Truth be told...like anything, and more so with horror movies, always approach a horror movie with your own mind and expectations. I cannot tell you how many times I've gone to see a horror, slasher or monster movie that someone has raved about being amazing...only to have something in it put me off and ruin the film for me. It could be anything from CGI blood (which Hollywood REALLY needs to get away from, what happened to good ole buckets of corn syrup?) to the movie just being boring (looking at YOU Paranormal Activity and every single movie out there with the words "haunting", "excorcism" or "insert random town in the small Northeast coast".) or cheesy (although some people love cheesy horror, and that's okay too.)

Action movies and summer blockbusters tend to have an easier time rubbing that tickle spot that audiences are craving when they see them, so it's easier to get an idea when viewing reviews. They want car chases, gunfights, cgi creatures, buff bods and roundhouse kicks to the head. However with horror, it's not so simple. What can cause one to lose sleep at night, is a sort of dark comedy to another. For example, "Silence of the Lambs" is regarded as one of the "scariest" movies of all time. I've seen episodes of "Law and Order: SVU" that were scarier than that flick...

If you're curious about the new Dracula (which I lovingly call it "Castlevania: The Movie." Go check it out, but during a matinee. Being that most of us here are toy collectors, I'm sure that many will agree that there are worse things that we've spent 10 bucks on. :D

I'll be waiting until Redbox for the new Dracula. That said, I look forward to watching it. It's the start of a new Universal Monsters shared universe, so the idea behind it is at least exciting.

Silence of the Lambs shouldn't be classified horror, it's a crime drama with horror elements, but not a full fledged horror. Se7en was scarier, and I still lean that in the drama detective neo-noir category.

Universal said it could be, could. I don't think this movie will usher in the return of all our favorite Universal monsters. Hopefully the Mummy remake set for 2016 will start it instead, unless that gets canned. I'd like to see a remake of Creature from the Black Lagoon instead of another remake of a movie from only 20-30 years ago. The only remakes I can think of that actually at least match the original are: True Grit, The Departed (based on Infernal Affairs), and John Carpenter's The Thing (which is actually kind of a sequel to the original, kind of).

That said, I am tired of remakes, so I don't want remakes of Creature from the Black Lagoon or anything of the sort. Plus, they would just CGI the Gill Man.

As for The Thing, actually, it wasn't a remake, it was another adaptation to "Who Goes There?', and was closer to the story.

Speaking of which, I am getting to see BOTH Creature from the Black Lagoon 3D and The Thing in the theaters on Sat and Wed.

I also agree that Silence of the Lambs is not a true horror movie, but then again, Alien is a horror movie under the guise of a Science Fiction, so...

Hey one good point for Dracula Untold: It looks better than "I Frankenstein". Did anyone watch that monstrosity? I have not, but my logic for it being horrible is two fold 1. I usually assume the previews are showing me the best parts of the movie to sell it, and the preview for I,F blew balls. 2. no one I know saw it, and several people (who are movie guys) didn't even know what I was talking about.

Always intended to, never did. I'm not against the premise, despite not particularly liking the trailers. It actually looked kind of fun to watch.

But I'm not too beholden to any previous versions of properties like the classic monsters. I want to see lots of crazy, unusual takes on the mythos.

I, Frankenstein's plot is the exact same plot from Van Helsing, just executed in an even worse fashion.
