SFV hurt my feelings on so many levels....this doesn't help

EtherDragon 07-10-2017 06:19 PM

Akumufasa

I mean, I look at this Akuma figure and all I think of is Mufasa from the Lion King. I mean like, the first thing I think of is "That's beyond our borders Simba, you must never go there" I mean, i'm on my The Tokens - The Lion Sleeps tonight kick right now.

Because on the game the hair comes from his chin like a beard. On the figure it obviously comes from his neck like a mane.

Storm Announces Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers License - The Toyark - News

Bearjew 10-03-2017 06:20 AM

These guys are going to keep on until I buy into this line. That is really annoying. Can't they just fail and go away so I can keep my money?
I have yet to see Bison or I would own it. If they make a Guile I will have to PRE-ORDER! Somebody really needs to stop them $55 is too much. Do I even have to say anything about Blanka?

LordSagat 10-03-2017 07:16 AM

Can we please get a new thread for this. That aside this is fantastic news for those of you who weren't fond of the SFV designs. I get that they were not for everyone but I was on board for this completely. Being a hardcore fan of the series I'm going to be on board with these too. Classic Akuma

hasbroherofan 10-03-2017 07:31 AM

Oh man. Violent Ken?

Will I finally get a damn Dee Jay figure?

evilekim 10-03-2017 07:45 AM

Very cool! Honestly I think Storm has done a better job with Mortal Kombat in terms of character selection though. The Street Fighter license must have something that says, only make Chun Li, Ryu, Ken, M. Bison, Cammy, and Akuma. It seems those are the only characters we ever get in figure form. Unless you are SOTA, who made nearly all of the characters.
Why no Vega or Blanka?

I honestly don't know that I agree. All their Mortal Combat figures are the same figures repainted. I also think that the Street fighter figures have better accessories than the Mortal Kombat figures. As you stated though it may all come down to licensing. I think often they test the waters and see if it will even work then expand. Hopefully in the future we can get better characters from both games.

There's a larger variety of characters in the works for their Mortla Kombat license compared to the Street Fighter license. Robot Ninja, Kitana, Shao Kahn, Liu Kang, Baraka.

Agreed Joe, there are way more characters for MK! Yes some are repaints, but at least they are different characters. Plus they have interchangeable heads which make them look much different. Such as Scorpion with a Skull head or Reptile with the Reptilian head. Aside from that, Shao Kahn is a huge character that was only poorly made by Jazwares and 1 other (much older) figure from years ago.
They teased several others as well. All in all, it's around 10 or more different characters. Street Fighter is just variant after variant of the same core characters.

MegaGearX 10-03-2017 08:37 AM

Now we can get the original looks for Akuma, Vega, Guile and Ken.

magma169 10-03-2017 09:02 AM

Why announce a new line when they havent even touched upon the full roster from SF5 ? Better focus all your attention in making the best out of SF5, then move on to a new license. Or so I would think....

edit: pff, just read Joe's full description. Sounds like a poor excuse to release a repainted Ryu and Ken figure with different headsculpts......

Joe Moore 10-03-2017 09:22 AM

Keep in mind, Storm is still a relatively new, small company here. You're not going to get everything all at once. I'm 100% for any company who can maximize their molds to reduce costs on items, as that money can then be rolled into all-new molds.

The biggest hurdle for Storm is this is essentially all they do. The game licenses and then random bits of 1/4 scale and 1/6 scale items once or twice a year. Unlike SH Figuarts, where Bandai has a mind boggling amount of additional products, there's nothing to absorb some of the costs of one off molds. So you put out 4 or so ninjas, then hit fans with something like Shao Kahn. Or you put out a dozen or so Ryu colorways as various exclusives and use that to (hopefully) fund newer molds.

Stop being a slacker and buy these damn figures...ha
i REALLY thought i'd be all in for the figurarts but now methinks i'll only get certain ones for that line. I'm collecing all of the Storm as of now because they are big and badass and poseable.
this line is too expensive to try to play catch up...so the frequency in which they drop is great for the amount they are (cost)

umm..how...right NOW there are 4 Street Fighter figs out and 3 MK figs ...how does that equate to a better selection?

RoboSnuf 10-03-2017 10:42 AM

This could be fantastic. Let's have some P2 variants please. I need a couple of DeeJay figs and would probably upgrade most of my Revolution figs too. Dhalsim, Zangief, Honda and Mika - all looked pretty great but were so fragile! I've got one broken variant of each of them - except for Mika, who just likes to fall to pieces when you look at her.

I'd also be keen for a couple of other versions of early wave characters who didn't get many variants in the SOTA line. I'd take another Bison & Sagat or two...

I'd love to see some of the other great SF characters we didn't get with SOTA too - they easily could divert a lot of my funds. However, like many here, I dread that we'll see another first wave of Ryu, Evil Ryu, Ken, Violent Ken and maybe Chun-Li. Please no! Save the repaints for later waves! Take some hints from SOTA (who were pretty successful with their line) and spread out those 'popular' (and overproduced) characters some to keep people paying attention.

<aaaannd breathe...>

Oh come on guys "In the works" and "repaint" figures hardly count as released figures. If we are counting that then we can count the entire newly announced street fighter game figures.

I have to agree with the above

I will NOT STOP SLACKING! It is one of my best core strengths. I have eyeballed a Storm Ryu at my TRU for weeks now. It has a beat up box so nobody wants it. It looks great and I have been hoping that it goes on sale or somebody buys it so I don't have to. I am wearing thin though especially with this announcement the effects alone would be very useful. Please don't post pictures Darktoylord

goliathfasa 10-03-2017 11:24 AM

Oh for eff's sake! My already all-in on the SF5 line, and now this? SF2 will always be the definitive versions for me, so I guess I'm all in AGAIN.

Storm man... geesus. Stop grabbing my wallet and smacking my face with it.

I could see why. The original versions are the most popular. Storm doesn't have to worry about trying to sell Vega with a shirt, Balrog's new look, Guile's sleeveless look, etc. Now they could concentrate on the new characters from SFV, while using the classic designs from SF2.

Bearjew 10-03-2017 11:44 AM

I also don't feel like we get a lot of stabilization with the Storm figure pricing. This frustrates me because I like to have an idea of what I will be paying for figures in the future. The problem is you have Ryu at $54, M. Bison at $64, and Zangief at $94. It seems that pricing is all over.

ha..funny thing is...that's one of the lines i've never got around to snapping pics of yet. Though i did make a short, SHORT stop motion with M.bison.
i have Ryu, Ken, Bison, Hot Ryu, and though Zangief is available to order, i was hoping to pick him up Friday at NYCC.

BearJ...are you on IG?

Make that 5 figures and 5 figures with unique sculpts and tooling at that. Not just the same figure repainted with a different head and accessories.

TheFuzz07 10-04-2017 07:26 AM

Storm Collectibles releases good figures, but if they're focusing on fighting why don't they try to acquire other licenses aside from Mortal Kombat and street fighter? Maybe injustice 2?
