A part of me is mad at this set, but another part of me isn’t surprised in the slightest. This set pretty much sums up my problems with NECA’s It 2017 releases. As some of have already said they just aren’t Ultimate releases, plain and sinmple and this set makes that even more painfully obvious.
As it stands it’s just not enough new. I almost thought NECA was going to make a Diorama featuring the room full of clown props, but instead we only get two props from that scene and while the effort is appreciated literally no one asked for it. The Balloon, S.S. Georgie and severed arm are laughably thrown in to add value when in reality those were very specific items used to justify the Ultimate status of the previous two releases. The sewer is nice, but overall not nice enough when you consider the price tag and the double-dipped accessories we’re getting. This would have been a great time to add the Balloon Pyramid, a pair of fists for the dancing scene or grabbing hands for Pennywise and they could have even throw in so extra heads that haven’t been released yet like the “dead lights” head sculpt or the cracked/ broken head from the end of the movie. In short this set is just very underwhelming. |
What is the point of the boat? Every version of Pennywise has the boat. Is it expected that some people would only by the accessory pack?
Would've been nice to just make this a sewer pack - include the sewer, severed arm, and an extended Pennywise arm reaching out from the sewer. Then they could have released a clown room pack later. |

yup- easy easy pass on that Accessory pack for anything more than $15. Add a few more things and i'll take another look- but that's a "No from me, Dawg"
|
Not quite sure how to express this without sounding like a jerk, but the followers over on NECA's Twitter are falling all over themselves for this, makes me wonder if they'll buy anything NECA makes haha
|
The sewer piece itself looks good, but I’d only be interested if it was somehow possible to use a Tim Curry head instead.
I really like the statues too, but even if I was a fan of the new Pennywise look I doubt I’d get it. |

Personally i don't mind the set. Hope they've done it in such a way to allow the head to be swapped out for at the very least the 2017 Pennywise. It looks like its just the head and the collar propped up on a head stand of sorts. If the head is not intended to be changed I doubt it would be terribly difficult to get inside the sewer to outright replace it. The price is a little high. If it had lights and sound it could be worth it. That said, give it six or so months and it will be likely be discounted.

Just seen that Randy has confirmed on Twitter that the sewer head can be easily switched, and the sewer can work ‘with just about any figure’.
I’ll probably get it now. |
NECA just put up ANOTHER "Ultimate" figure.
https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Produ...nDetails/84909 In all seriousness; I'd love to own a single Pennywise figure with all the options; not 4 different ones. I had been waiting on NECA but just ordered the Mafex just in case. If next year or sometime NECA does a real ultimate with all the accessories I'll but it. Charge me $75 or whatever they need to. |

I just preordered 4 of them. Pretty soon, I'm going to have to allocate one of my twelve foot shelves to just Pennywise.

Well, I understand the dissapointment in part, but I think that Neca could offer a 2 pieces pack ala Evil Dead, with some accesories, but not all. In the other brand is cool that we can recreate some epic scenes of the movie and more now with the accesories pack and the new figure with monster arms and led. At the end is a business and if they see that sales are ok ....you know. Its the same with the Freddy or Jason franchises.
At that point and turning back to the IT theme, Now I can do my 3 favourite scenes dioramas from the movie. But at the end are you who decides if is ok or not to buy that. Wait for IT part 2...I can imagine 10 differents Pennywises in total...lol |

As great as this reveal is, I have some issues with it. When someone asked via Twitter why the extra heads, arms and accessories from this Ultimate Dancing Clown version weren't included in the recently announced accessory pack, Randy basically said the arms on this newest version were made to swap out while previous versions were not which justifies a whole new figure release with heads... I guess that logic makes sense. But if that's the case, it stands to reason the extra heads and hands from the upcoming "Ult. Well House" could have been put in the accessory set, especially since the only thing that makes that version special are the heads and hands which are compatible with all previous releases. As a completist I'm going to get everything they put out regardless and I get that the previous releases allows them to do things like the swappable arms on this version but again, why call the previous versions anything close to ultimate when they don't have nearly enough to justify the title. http://news.toyark.com/wp-content/up...nywise-015.jpg With that said that Deadlight head is too nice and the one I've been wanting NECA to tackle most. |
I guess that with multiple releases there are multiple pennywises for display on the same shelf. and can't he be in multiple places at once?
|
How many ultimates for chapter two? I'm guessing three or more?

To someone else's comment about them being scene specific Ultimate figures, I just don't get why call any of them Ultimate. Just say Wellhouse Pennywise or add in Deluxe if you must. It's not like there's a not-Ultimate NECA figure to compete with or any other company besides Mafex. I guess the few figures I've bought have been Terminator Deluxes and the Pacific Rim Gypsy Danger that had like all of the accessories so I was more accustomed to that. edit. I saw on Twitter that NECA said this is the grand finale of the first movie, so no other variants. |
Well I'm glad I skimped on the first version now since I actually prefer the parts for the second and third version and I can just supplement them with the accessory set.
|
Just a note on the 1990 It. NECA say they might release some extra stuff that ‘didn’t make the cut’ the first time.
Just rewatched it and was keeping an eye on what they might be able to do. I really can’t see much at all. Dog-head Pennywise, mummy, wolf man, and I guess if they want to throw money down the drain...that awful spider monster as a ‘deluxe’ package. Nothing else for accessories. Personally don’t think we’ll see anything else for the 1990 version. As for the latest 2017 figure, I’ve avoided picking up previous versions as I’m not a big fan of the design, but I’ll buy that one for the painting head alone. |
