Love that they’re doing Mutagen Man already. I think I may be all-in on this line.

buddyboy101 02-03-2020 07:06 PM

My reactions:

1.) Love the entire choice of characters for the line - Mutagen Man is especially an amazing choice!!

2.) Shredder is very faithful to the original except no hunch ;)

3.) Shredder's mask is incorrect though, it should come to a point at the ridge of his noise, instead of a plateau: https://s3.us-west-1.wasabisys.com/ebayassets/items_images/323426753765/$_12.JPG_5bb48fbde22a50.85006777.jpg

4.) Leo's nose looks weird. Dips down too low, like a bird or something.

5.) Should have included a silver helmet/mask head for Shredder instead of the eyebrows alt.

6.) Would love to see Pizzaface join the line one day!!*

It did, yeah. Odd thing to pay homage to, but I admit that I chuckled.

RamenRider 02-03-2020 09:29 PM

Not feeling this wave. I agree it's somewhat funny how toy accurate these are - but paying 50 bucks for them? Nah.

Shredder is just weird looking all around, Bepop is ruined by the pink face and Leonardo is just, well Leonardo. Mutagen Man is the only one I like but just because well, it's the original Playmates toy more than anything.

I don't know, the first wave didn't bother me that much but this...

Riddick 02-03-2020 11:05 PM

I love this set. I'm so used to Figuarts, Mafex, Mezco and Hot Toys prices, $50 bucks doesn't bother me. I do feel like what you're getting it should be cheaper but it is what it is. That being said, I'm getting both waves.

JerpJerp 02-04-2020 12:04 AM

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAA!!!!!

This figure line is some fantasy world where my beloved playmates have transformed into what I always wanted. It's the greatest homage to the best toy line of all time, IMO. I kept thinking, I already have these figures, maybe I'll buy a few, blah blah, nope not thinking that anymore, that's crazy. I want to riiiiiiide. Ride the wave again like 1988!

PRE-ORDERED ALL!
AND WILL CONTINUE!!!!
It's Future 1988. Fresh "SUPER-PLAYMATE" turts off the shelf. A beautiful wonderland of super awesomeness cowabunga dudes.

The shredder alt head made me laugh big time. Lovin' the turtle humor.
UPDATE: I noticed the PLASTIC CAPE....NO THANK YOU. It seems like these days fabric capes can actually look good. The capes on the DC COLLECTABLES "Mikey Batman" and the other ones, look and feel amazing. Its a great weight and fabric.
Super7 should really look into using those. It would be perfect for this Shredder. Hopefully they can make a late decision to add it, in addition to the plastic, for those that want it. TECHNICALLY the fabric is more accurate to the original toy....

The pink bebop face is strong, but I think I like it. I'm totally satisfied with the whole wave.

MUTAGEN MAN ALREADY????!?!?!? whaaaa woo!!

evilekim 02-04-2020 12:37 AM

Man, where do I begin?!
Leonardo looks awesome! Just like Raphael, he translates well in this Playmates homage line. I really like how the turtles look, I’m excited to collect all 4! *Preordered*
Shredder is hit and miss. For the most part he’s okay, but I wish they posted a pic of him in the cloth cape. This plastic one is meh. That 2nd head sculpt is fugly! The original figure wasn’t that bad lol Anyway, turtles need to fight a main villain *Preordered*

Bebop is easily ruined by the pink face. Honestly, the NECA one is so good I wasn’t really interested in another Bebop and Rocksteady anyway. Especially for double the price. *skipped this one*
Mutagen Man is cool, but he does nothing for me. They really didn’t change anything, it just looks like a 7” version of the old figure. I think if they added a glow feature or some slime to put into him I would buy him. As is, meh. *skipped this one*

As an action figure line, I’m not as sold on these as I am with NECA. I wish they would stick to a 2 good guys, 2 bad guys formula like in wave 1. I think I’m going to mostly order main characters, but I’m looking forward to Casey, Leatherhead, and Slash!

Comedian 02-04-2020 05:59 AM

I want to love the neca target figures, but I can’t find them. I have 3 targets within 15 minutes of me and I still can’t find them. These I just order and there they are here. Hunting toys was fun when toy sections received new toys every other day. Now that it’s once a month or so I find myself doing nothing but straightening action figure sections when I visit stores.

This works, because I love knowing I have them. Boy was it nice to just receive 10 motu figures from super7 knowing I already paid.

Really? Wow. I have several targets near me as well and up until a week ago, they all had Tmnt stuff in stock. Now they are sold out, but expecting Casey, April, leather head and slash soon.

It’s rough. I live between Niagara Falls and buffalo. So even though the store choices are huge, the collector, scalper and huge Canadian shopping bases just swarm these things. If your not there when they the go out, that’s it. Target kept the first wave at the electronics desk in my stores anyway. That’s how I found them. No the are left with other neca items on shelf and people just swarm them. I get to target maybe 3 times a week my wife stops at them 1 to 2 times a week. And still we miss them.

Won't help at all, but I read this and instantly ran to play "Blame Canada!" from the Southpark movie.

Yeah I'm in San Diego, and there's several targets around but a literal million people live around here and it's just impossible unless I went in to work late every day and be there when they opened. I'm gonna resort to eBay eventually for B&R which sucks.

Darn you.....off to YouTube. Lol.

Side note. In the 90s Canadians were obsessed with alien and predator. They came here in droves to clean out Kay-bee and toysrus.

That's actually pretty funny. But probably kinda dumb on Super7's part to waste an accessory slot on a joke.

ShabbyBlue 02-04-2020 11:09 AM

Some people seem overly critical of this line, but I love it. I'm all in for every wave, especially because of the diverse variety of character selection so far rather than just overloading the first few waves with all the main characters. The amount of love TMNT is getting in toys these last few years has been great and it's really grown a bunch lately. NECA doing the cartoon versions and movie versions and Super 7 doing vintage toy versions just gives us a chance to have EVERY incarnation of the turtles so I'm not going to pass up getting this toy tribute line.

Seeing someone like Mutagen Man in the 2nd wave gives me hope of getting Fugitoid, Wingnut/Screwloose, Mondo Gecko and other childhood favorites in the next few waves.

I wonder if they'd ever do a vehicle. Obviously large scale vehicles like the party wagon may not be worth doing, but we got some vehicles in the MOTUC line so it's not totally impossible to get one or two in this line too. It would be great if they at least did the Cheapskate vehicle, one of the first in the vintage line and small enough that it could reasonably be made in this 7" scale too.

I am hoping NECA does Ratking and the snake jetski from the sewer level of the game... unfortunately it'll be pixelated and I'll have to repaint it.

NECA doesn't ever do vehicles for their toy lines though, so it's not likely. The floating skateboards included with the current arcade figures are more like oversized accessories since they can be included in the same packaging as the figure itself rather than released separately as a standalone vehicle.

Super 7 has precedent in doing vehicles, so there's hope for it with them if their TMNT line is successful and lasts long enough to justify it.

They did make a Blade Fighter for their Predator line.

It's not that they do this a lot but if they wanted to they could.

Godpocalypse 02-04-2020 11:46 AM

Villains getting shafted on the accessories though :/

reaaaaallly want a shredder but lack of accessories compared to the turtles and the no chest armour (whatever happened to that) is making me pass on this

Exactly why I suggested it be released with Ratking. I could easily see it as a Target "two pack" option. "Ratking and Footski" if they wanted to cartoon it, or a deluxe pack for the game releases, at $50 instead of $25. It's small enough to be a character slot instead of a full separate toy.

I don't expect Neca to do the Partywagon/Turtlevan.

Toy shredder was a scrawny, hunched, nearly nekkid man with a ginormous brow.

dukefett 02-04-2020 12:13 PM

Has Super7 said anything about the release time frame? Spring 2021 is over a year away, I didn't think their preorders went that far in advance. I'm really glad BBTS is basically retailing these at their price since I wouldn't wanna pay in advance so far, plus by then I'll have the first wave in hand to see if I really wanna keep going with the line.

That's true. I forgot about that vehicle. Didn't it not sell well though? I vaguely recall them having a hard time selling a bunch via BBTS or elsewhere.

As I recall it did not sell well, TRU's website wound up dropping the price to below $30 to get rid of them. NECA also made the power loader from Aliens but I feel hesitant to call that a proper vehicle, that one sold pretty well.
