He's said he has more stretch goals to reveal. Hopefully some necroplasm accessories.

dukefett 04-14-2020 08:41 PM

I'm not sure I want one, but I'm not going to give him money before he's done revealing stretch goals lol, every time you pass $100,000 amount he's gotta raise it another $100,000 to create the "goal."

By doing it this way i know i've been checking it waiting to see what the next goal is. If i already knew i would check less frequently. He is keeping us talking about it for longer this way. It's kept me hyped and i imagine many more.

That said, i suspect they're looking at what people want and supporting the majority demands. Again rather then putting up goals nobody wants he can promise them at every 200k and go with the best fit. Next goal is likely going to be a coloured screaming head and or necroplasm effects. I wouldn't even be surprised if he adds more articulation as near every comment is asking for it.

As a side note; if he did a translucent green variant and added a $200 tier with all four he'd add a further 200k within an hour or two.

I just saw on Twitter a post about Todd is adding 3 weapons to the 3-pack as the next goal.

Sitting on the fence a bit but will definitely back, waiting on more details and information (articulation of the cape and body, accessories, etc.)

For a first Kickstarter and as an "improved" homage to the first (and also the Image 10th Anniversary) so far its very good especially with the added bonuses so far but have the following requests/ideas:
1) Translucent green or glow in the dark hands or energy effect orb.
2) Some of the heads I would like the eyes to glow or have that very reflective green paint. Especially the Al Simmons head.
3) Provide a unique backdrop/background cardboard stand for each figure as part of the nice packaging.
4) Similar to the Image 10th Anniversary, a cool stand like that cross.
5) Probably not going to happen but, some form of the Spawn Power Counter, designed similar to a cryptex.

The whole point for this is to recreate many covers and panels of Spawn from I'd say issue 1-25.

Looking forward to future Spawn updated figures like Medieval Spawn, Violator/Clown, Evolved/Armored Spawn, and a Commando Spawn (with even more articulation). A multi-sectioned, wired soft goods (cloth/vinyl/leather) cape is another thing many would love to see on a future Spawn figure.

Updated with another "stretch goal":

UPDATE 5 (April 14th):
A new update has been posted. As the campaign has exceeded $1.4 Million, the Three Pack level will be getting 3 different new weapons, PLUS each include the standard original weapon.

UPDATE 6 (April 16th):
A new update has been posted. As the campaign has exceeded $1.5 Million, the Three Pack level will be getting another new head – 6 in total. In addition – each single figure will now come packed with 2 heads.

CLASSIC SPAWN – Will come with MASKED head & painted SCREAMING head.

MODERN SPAWN – Comes with SHOELACE head & Al Simmons HUMAN head.

ARTIST PROOF SPAWN – Comes with unpainted MASKED head & unpainted SCREAMING head.

RamenRider 04-16-2020 02:38 PM

Cool stuff. It would be nice if they could look into setting some sort of PayPal-option up; I actually talked to people who want to support this but don’t have a credit card.

mort 04-16-2020 02:57 PM

So, to clarify... does the Modern Spawn come with the masked head at all? Are these "2 heads" extras in addition to one already on the figure? Or does the 2 heads mean only one is an extra, and the other is already on the figure?

I can't imagine buying the Modern Spawn if it doesn't even have the masked head. Would be a bit of a dick move to try and force buying multiples.

It comes with the unmasked "Shoelace" head on the body and the Al Simmons head is the extra alternate. I think he didn't do a masked modern head, because the mask hasn't really changed and he wanted variety, maybe.

As far as forcing buying multiples, I don't think that was the intention, since the campaign originally didn't have the option to do so. In fact, it still doesn't.

Tony_Bacala 04-16-2020 03:16 PM

The 2 heads per figure - only those two heads. So modern Spawn currently does not come with a masked head.

Originally Modern Spawn was going to have shoelace only. And the 3 pack version of Modern Spawn was ONLY going to have Al Simmons.

Now, you get both no matter how you get a hold of Modern Spawn, single or 3 pack.

Same situation goes for Classic and Artist Proof. Now each has two by default, listed above.

Dunno if they originally intended it, but usually there is an after-campaign system that gets all the orders put into it, and you then manage your order there. You can change address, etc. At that time, they usually give you 30 days to add additional items.

So theoretically after you order 1 during the Kickstarter window, you could then add on 200 more items of your choosing if you wanted to.

They haven't clarified if they are doing that, but I'm sure they are fully researching all the Kickstarter methods now that this is going well.

Galaxy Ranger 04-16-2020 03:21 PM

Please include a new Saitama since previous release was not stellar.

Robogeek28 04-16-2020 03:21 PM

Classic Spawn with screaming head?

Yes please!

En Sabah Nerd 04-16-2020 03:57 PM

It feels weird referring to the mostly black Spawn as "modern" since he's looked like that for 25 years now. Obviously there are no objections to calling the classic one "classic" since that's how he looked for the first 31 issues but since then he's been consistent.

OriginalFire 04-16-2020 06:37 PM

Why does this Kickstarter get so much attention on this site, when other Kickstarters by independent toy companies, just get a headline and that's it. Like Amazing Heroes just got a mention and that was it, same with Plunderlings and Animals of the Warrior Kingdom. Every time this Spawn Kickstarter get a new stretch goal this Kickstarter goes to the front of the site. This is a good toy news site, but why so much attention to this Kickstarter, it funded in 12 minutes. It doesn't need all this attention. Sectaurs by Zica didn't get this kind of coverage either

Gmonkey2k 04-16-2020 06:43 PM

It's still so stupid...
I don't want Classic Spawn, but I want the masked head... :/

Me too. I really don't want to commit $80 when I only want Modern Spawn. No reason to have a duplicate figure laying around... ugh.

I might just bite the bullet and order 'em both.

http://www.toyark.com/attachments/58...del-w-cuts.jpg

I think the most useful points of articulation to add would be bicep swivels for the arms, and an ab crunch or ball joint for the upper torso.
Without the bicep joint, poses for the arms will be pretty limited. An upper torso joint would be great even though the torso has that weird pre-posed sculpt. Dunno why they sculpted it this way. Reminds me of the first Wolverine Marvel Legends figure that has lots of articulation but always looks weird because of the pre-posed nature of the torso.

A swivel at the calf and forearm wouldn't be needed. The hands will already be able to rotate and pivot at the wrist. Same goes for the ankles/feet; they'll be able to turn side-to-side as well as pivot up and down. The thighs already seem to be able to be able to rotate since they both plug into the hip joints, so an additional swivel would be redundant.

This Kickstarter news story is 6 pages long with comments. Most stories don’t go past a page or 2. So this is a big news story for this site. I remember this site covered the sail barge and covered each new piece of news. Not many comments were with that story, but this site isn’t a big Star Wars or 3.75 inch site. And yet it was still covered.

Second. Most kickstarters have all the rewards announced at the start. Mcfarlane keeps himself in the news by adding new rewards every day or 2. So that gets this a lot more attention. Maybe he’s on to something.

IIRC, Sectaurs got a couple of headlines during its KS campaign.

But, yeah,I don't know...it's not as if this place is bustling with a ton of activity and the Spawn KS is keeping people from missing other things here. And anyway, McFarlane has been around for decades at this point and is something of a major player in the toy industry, so the company doing a KS campaign that is doing crazy numbers IS a huge deal and newsworthy, IMO. Also, while I personally don't care about Spawn and didn't back, I'm fascinated by this because I feel like the success of this could have ramifications within the toy industry with more of the major players going the crowd funding route.

warmachine6 04-17-2020 05:03 AM

so i might back this project , but i want to know about his cape, it looks very heavy , how flexible will it be ? i.e can i get him to crouch etc

Basically what was said above - it's a larger company, established brand, bringing back a popular character that's been on time out for a bit, in a way that hasn't been done by this company, or, by many larger ones in industry.

And, as with all news we cover here, it's something one of us is personally into. We give more attention to brands and characters we actually dig. Joe digs Horror, I dig DBZ, Super Heroes, Mechs, DESTRO does Marvel Legends style stuff, etc. And I am into Spawn personally.

We aren't pure journalists, we aren't following Associated Press standards or anything. Just some dorks running a fan site. :)

This is true. It would be nice if Playmates did a Kickstarter to do some vintage TMNT stuff. They could do it to fund Scratch, Hot Spot and the Shogun Triceratron. I read some of the molds they had for some of the vintage figures were destroyed. We need some vintage TMNT. Not sure why playmates is lagging behind

Agreed. For whatever reason, doing it on actual Kickstarter triggers purchases that I don't think they would get if it was just "hit pre-order numbers" via retailers.

So, if Kickstarter brings in the masses, then so be it, all the biggies should do it.
