Or people wanna be able to see the product from a company notorious for bad qc ( same type of feet limbs etc, sloppy paint, missing pieces the list goes on), or collect to keep in box which now makes that superfluous.

Yes, that's the reason people want the plastic to stay, but that doesn't really change the fact that all of that plastic going straight into the trash isn't so great, either.

I think with a bit of creativity to devise some new product protection they could have whipped up an open window box that had most of the advantages of plastic windows. It couldn't be that hard to let people see what they're buying, especially when the box is plastered with renders instead of product photos. :/

OP called plastic-free packaging "bullshit 'environmentalism'" and it's not. I'm not defending or equivocating, I'm saying if you actually tried to quantify or qualify Hasbro's direct environmental impact from plastic packaging or NFTs, the first is the bigger deal. They shouldn't do either, but plastic-free is a legit ESG effort. And that's why I'm not arguing with the point about hypocrisy, because I reject the premise.

If you don't care about plastic or NFTs, then you could see Hasbro as hypocritical, but why would you care. If you think they're both issues, then it's less about hypocrisy and more about a lack of commitment. And if you think NFTs are killing the planet but plastic windows are justified, then you have a cultural view instead of an environmental one.

I don't think he called environmentalism bullshit but was calling out their environmentalist stance as fraudulent (hence the quotes around "environmentalism") with their NFT support as key evidence. If you reject the premise that Hasbro's stated position is hypocritical then by all means do so, but that doesn't mean you can ascribe motivations to us beyond the obvious for simply recognizing that Hasbro is actively saving money by citing one waste issue while making money by exploiting another one.

And to preempt anything else: I do care about the environment, I do think plastic waste is an issue, and I honestly don't mind the plastic-free packaging in theory as that's what I grew up with WRT vehicles and other big items, only their crap execution of the idea. I separate all my recycling, restore and repurpose my old clothing and found furniture, take showers instead of baths, all that stereotypical California stuff. And I cannot bring myself to believe this is a lack of commitment on Hasbro's to doing better, just transparent hypocrisy.

The plastic thing isn't nonsense, single use plastics, especially those used in packaging, are an incredible environmental harm. Hasbro generates tons of plastic that goes right in the garbage, while cardboard is very recyclable. Meanwhile, they've done very little in the NFT space, so while the sector is very harmful, Hasbro's direct contribution to NFT energy waste is likely quite limited. I think they should stay away from NFTs too, but I don't think making one bad call means the right one is invalidated.

Jesus fucking Christ, are you dense. Why do you keep insisting I'm saying that plastic isn't bad for the environment when clearly I'm agreeing that it is? Like, a 2-year-old could understand what I'm saying.

It's very odd to quote someone else only to have a conversation with yourself... nothing you're saying is a counterpoint to dude, it's all just counterpoint-dressed agreement coupled with weird equivocation to passively defend the NFTs even while saying you don't.

Seriously, dude. It's not worth talking to him when he's in his own little world.

Open window boxes are what they're doing for Transformers and are hated just as much with it's own set of problems. Just replace "I can't see the figure" with "people can just reach in a touch my figure", and also adds the unwanted element of people just reaching in and taking the figure or at least just the head. Seeing as stuff like this is supposed to be more collector friendly, they wanted to avoid stuff like that.

Okay, I get it, jeez. Please continue to be furious about NFTs, I've got no problem with that. No need to be personally insulting.

When you insist on being retarded, it's hard not to be.

NFTs added to these figures to "make it a better value"...
Not For Toys...

At $50 it's an incredible hard sell for kids not that Hasbro cares because these are Pulse exclusives aimed at collectors... Only the biggest issue is these figures are missing tattoos which makes it not exactly a high end collector's item either even though they are priced like it.
Very disappointing.

There should be a $10 release with limited articulation and a $20+ line for collectors, both with tattoos. Mattel's WWE line does it right for years. Hasbro seems totally lost here.
