Oh, and Hasbro labeled their "Pride" collection as "Rainbow" shirts and buried it under a bunch of Joe announcements and the aforementioned Haslab. Glad that's all working out for them.

Rainbows make me scurred, Ma.

This guy did...And after all is said and done it's about as expensive as the H-Lab.

The MosLab feels a little cheap to me due to all the hollow areas. They really should create gap filler panels for the final version.

Not to mention:

The support: Not just the filament, you have to add the cost of the support too.

The 3D Model: I admire the talented people who spent hours and hours building 3D models on the computer so that they can print it. Sure, there are a lot of models on sites like Thingiverse that are free, but quality varies.

The time: how long would it take to print the whole cantina? We're talking weeks probably (depending on your 3D printer).

The paint: You have to paint it after you print it, and not everyone's as talented a painter. Add the cost and time of paint too.

The quality: I'm sad to say this, 3D printed items often looks like 3D printed items. The layers build lines are still there. The curves still have "steps". (look at the eBay link above) The quality is just not there when compared to a molded item.

3D printed items are great for items that no one else makes, but if Hasbro is making an official one, I much rather have the real thing.

I kind of feel like people want others to not get into 3D printing by making it sound a lot more difficult and costly than it is. Not even here, I just see it constantly when it's mentioned elsewhere. It feels like weird gatekeeping, haha.

When comparing the price to the HasLab, it may end up costing about the same - but then you have a freakin' 3D printer forever, LOL.

I totally get how it's just easier to buy it - and more power to folks who want it. But this one in particular is getting the "print my own" reaction because size-wise, nothing here is that large so basically any 3D printer can do it with ease. It has very little paint application (don't see much at all). It pretty much looks like it *was* 3D printed.

It's also insanely easy and cheap to get Star Wars designs. Besides free ones, there are people like Landspeeder Luke who have small Patreon fees which let you access their whole library.

Yes, there is a small learning curve - but most of the newer ones have so many convenience features that it's just a matter of watching a few YouTube videos, even to replace parts, these days.

Again, I totally get why it wouldn't be worth it for some folks - but just in general, what you can 3D print is truly rivaling what they are offering and this is a great example of that.

Harbinger 06-11-2024 04:11 PM

Just lookin forwards to shin hati. Got a feeling those acolyte figs are gonna be peg warming worse than lando figs.

Sean C 06-12-2024 12:13 AM

Will this finally kill the Retro Collection? Mostly boring looking female characters! Collect them all...you have to, it's a boxed set.

AyaToyBox 06-12-2024 05:05 AM

Acolte stuff if the whole wave from the series yep might be Worst than a certain admiral and a certain inquisitor ?

Nobody WANT you to do anything. If people are saying the same thing every where, maybe it's just the truth. Why would anyone "gatekeep" you from 3D printing? You do what you want.

"Gatekeeping"? That's a bit...sorry...but, absurd. Mentioning the cost of materials is pertinent. Since you brought it up, sure...you have a 3d Printer "forever". However, you still have to buy one. Which, for a good one would be much more than the cost of this HasLab. If you want print items that "rival" injection molding you will spend WAY more. In addition to all that one still has to buy the STLs, providing they can be found. Only then does the "learning curve" come into play.

From what I’ve heard if the show, and the stock I’ve seen at Ollie’s, they probably won’t even want these duds of figures haha

Darth Revan 06-12-2024 01:51 PM

I didn't even watch Ahsoka but will probably get that shin hati figure. I don't know why that figure did not come with a cloak from the beginning. Baylan Skoll too.

The only character that looks remotely interesting, is that sith lord. At least until they screw it up somehow.

More like quadruple dipping, I know they unfortunately release the same character multiple times with one new accessory each release which is kind of a waste of time, plastic and money but they do it anyway. An ultimate version of every character should exist.

That would be more interesting then anything they've done in the last 5 years.

Is that the episode where the "new paintjobs" meme came from? Yep, I just youtubed it.

GAUGE0001 06-13-2024 05:43 PM

Just what I always wanted!!! YES!!!

Now I can re-inact my all time favorite Acolyte Episode 3 scene: "The Power of 1! The Power of 2! THE POWER OF MANYYYYYYY"!!!

Okay...In all seriousness. These are all going to peg warm sooooo hard.

I don't feel bad for Disney at all.

The fact they are still making the same stupid mistakes over and over is mind boggling. I guess it'll all be the fans' fault again when NO ONE buys these.

I got blocked by Yakface on twitter today because he was showing off a black series Acolyte stranger RP helmet and I commented it was going to an Ollie's near you.

https://i.imgur.com/UYTqqSR.jpeg

What a dumb reason to block someone and you know I was right.

My post got 20+ likes too

So you can only comment if you LIKE something? Where are we, China?

I agree with you, those are going to be at Ollies...except I'll never find them.

snake5289 06-26-2024 09:17 AM

That's a dumb looking helmet.
