Guys! Nab any Retaliation figs you can now-
They just pushed the movie back to next freakin March.
GI Joe: Retaliation Booted Back Nine Months To March 2013. Why? Hasbro Have Some Story About 3D | Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

So...what does this mean for the toys? I think they'll hold wave 2 and 3 untill next year rather than have them languish for nine months- and we may not see wave 1 re-released if so.

So hunting, my friends!

NoodleChow 05-23-2012 02:47 PM

just heard the news from my cousin. all i could think was what the eff will happen to the toys? since in all this... the toys are the true victims. damnit. so close to those new figures. effing paramount.

RAAAAAAAGE! Another year until I get a Joe-sized Bruce Willis figure?!? And they've already spent who knows how much on marketing for the movie!!! That's all for nothing now. This is NOT a good sign.

JustryGT 05-23-2012 03:32 PM

wow , what a mess! I really wonder if any toys will be sent back .

NoodleChow 05-23-2012 03:40 PM

yeah or will they just sit on em? i'd rather they just release em but having that all sitting without a movie.... good job paramount/hasbro. =\

Betoxico 05-23-2012 03:42 PM

NOOOO!! Bye bye Red Ninja, Dragon Ninja, Night Viper, Bruce Willis, Blind Master....

:-(

Jason Abbadon 05-23-2012 05:00 PM

Just busted out my Cobra Trooper- he's an AWESOME sculpt with less articulation than I prefer- no ankle joint or swivel and only single knees (which I'm fine with here).
That being said, he's a much more robust figure than say, the Cap line's Hydra soldier is.
Those double knees are pretty weak sometimes.

This soldier will make the ultimate in Hydra badassery- once I swap the (very cool) harness with a Hydra harness, paint him green and deal him up, he'll be a great Hydra Death Commando (from Secret Warriors).
I even have a trenchcoat for him!
Gotta get ome mmore of these wjile I can.

D00MTR0N 05-23-2012 05:09 PM

there is no way the big box stores will "sit" on these or send them back, its way to costly,im sure the figures the stores have will be released on the street date, sell out and then begins a long empty void for joe collectors.

Jason Abbadon 05-23-2012 05:36 PM

Exactly- but I dont think stores will get more than what they now have- no clue if BBTS orders will get filled on some stuff or what.

Maybe they'll fill initial orders and re-release the first wave next year to go with the movie...we can hope.

DAMN! Now I wish I'd bought that Joe trooper- he looks all "Halo" and cool but I wal already dropping $30 and thought "they'll be plenty as the movie gets released".

D'oh!

Quasimodo 05-23-2012 07:10 PM

Man I hope we at least still get the first two waves!

Snowflakian 05-23-2012 07:13 PM

The movie bumping could work in the long run too.
Granted it's going to be weird for the toys, but if this means retail chains keep the orders coming for the later waves at the movie release. This could actually work out for everyone.

I'm kind of hoping this means we'll see early movie stuff now, and then they'll filter in some filler like zombie vipers, cycle armors, and renegades stuff, then back to the rest of movie stuff closer to the new release date.

Pipe dream probably, but if it works out, that'd be awesome.

NoodleChow 05-23-2012 07:24 PM

i just want that rock, snake eyes, and zartan. so hopefully if my stores got this in, they'll be put out this week or something. been wanting to use the SE lower legs on zartan as i believe he doesn't have ankles or the double knees. and wouldn't mind seeing more zombie vipers hitting the stores in the mean time.

TheSymbiote 05-23-2012 07:28 PM

Does this news mean that we should go buy the new joes before they put them back or they don't sell anymore till march? We just saw them today

I was hoping the same thing. This coming Christmas season would be a great time to send out some more Renegades SS and I could even go for some more POC figures.

Right now it's working out for my wallet.
But I'd kill to have the ROC Scarlet in impact armor re-released, alongside zombie vipers, Wraith, Renegades scarlet, ashiko with cycle armor. Outside of those, the only other figures I'm looking for are Roadblock(the rock), Joe Coulton(bruce willis), snake eyes(Retaliation), Storm Shadow(retaliation), Zartan(retaliation), Cobra Commander black version (retaliation), and a decent Jynx... Though I do plan on making my own Renegades Jinx anyway using the above mentioned wraith, zombie viper, and scarlets. xD

This year was getting pricey anyway between Avengers, MU, and Prime. Next year is looking just as pricey though with generations and GI Joe now. T_T

Use Renegades Tunnel Rat for Zartan's legs- I'm pretty sure he has rockers and the right kind of military boots.
You could also use a Cap Line WWII Cap- I think he's got rockers, right?

Snake Eyes(Retaliation) also has those new rocker-hands, which kicks crazy butt for poses- I'd never have thought such a little change in movement would look so great- really adds to a more believable pose.

KshatriyaNZ666 05-24-2012 12:25 AM

THEY PUSHED THE FILM TO 2013 FOR 3D?!? I've pretty much lost all my drive to even watch it now. Lame....even my mom was itching to go see it!

If the new Storm Shadow had the hands from the Renegades/30th version he'd be perfect for me, but nope, he can't hold a dang thing.

And just noticed this, but my G.I. Joe Trooper has a brown cloak & respirator helmet instead of the blue one featured on the package - didn't know this guy had a variant as well. This fig is just awesome! I think the majority of the budget for this wave went straight to this figure. He's got some crazy ankle rockers & wrist articulation in addition to the standard POA's and a mess of gear, so messy that I just misplaced one of his pistols - color me pissed at the moment.

Quasimodo 05-25-2012 09:54 AM

Uh oh. Now hasbro says they are gonna hold the rest of the line that hasnt been released until closer to the movie launch. :/ Hopefully they release SOMETHING over the next few months

trebleshot 05-25-2012 11:59 AM

More Renegades figures would be nice, especially Storm Shadow and Law & Order.

Although this might explain why the Targets near me clearanced out its remaining stock of Joes and Walmart hasn't gotten anything new in for weeks.

tlasjr 05-25-2012 09:58 PM

The Walmart I was at put some out when I was in the aisle. On $6.97 pegs no less. At which poin I found outt my debit card had been stolen.

tlasjr 05-25-2012 10:04 PM

Do you think the delay is due in some part to the failure of battleship?

Thats going to make for a mad rush to make sure people get the figures they want.

100% agreed. I think the "quality" figures in the Renegades line could stand to have a greater distribution. I'd love to see a wave of cancelled figures from POC.

On the plus side I get to drive back the 60 miles so I can go to report the card stolen and the $200 in charges they put on it. Maybe I'll get lucky and it'll all still be there.

SO: get them while you can- these could become impossible to find and pricey as hasbro clusterfucks retailors- my local Target had Renegades figs on clearance for $5.50 today- unfortunately there were only ELEVEN crappy Firefly figs left.
You could see they had a big chunk of empty asile for the new Joe stuff too.
Well, this might mean a bigger push with the new MU figs as hasbro scrambles to make retailors happy with new product...and MU is selling bigtime here in Florida thanks to the Avengers movie- only crappy Peg-Warmer-Patriot is clogging pegs.

Happily I scored two Storm Shadows a Roadblock and two Cobra troopers- Unhappily, I did NOT score the GI Joe trooper which is so damn nice (cries).

This applies nicely and is HILARIOUS:

So much for getting Storm Shadow. Oh well.
