Damn Greys- comin' here, taking American jobs, having "anchor babies"...we need a fence to keep 'em out!
A fence across the sky.
SECURE OUR ATMOSPHERIC BORDER!

The Tea Party would totally go for it.

Deleted a few posts, cleaned-up a few others. Things have been going fine for a bit, but please keep it civil.

Gah!
This...this is what irks me about the A;ien conspiracy nonsense- and it is nonsense or the most part.
we see stuff that's amazing, like computer technology, and say "it must be TEH ALIENZ!" but if you do minimal research of the development of computers, you can track their evolution step by step from Alan Turing's first version in WWII to today's iphones and satelites.

Really, I thnk it shows a real...lack of confidence...in humanity.
It sells books though! Weaseals like Erich von Däniken that say everything from Egyptian and Myan pyramids to tiny gold bird-shaped jewelery is PROOF of extraterristerials showing "primative man" how to wipe their asses.

There's a real undercurrent of racism n his writings- and this is the bozo that started the whole second alien contac craze in the late 70's with his book "Chariots of the Gods"- which this uneducated guy, managing a motel at the time- dreamed up from looking at pictures of the Nazca Lines in national geographic.

Anything man has, good or bad, man has made for himself.

I do lack confidence in humanity. For many reasons that are not alien related so I won't get into it. If the events of Rosswell in 1947 really happened, and there really was an alien craft and a specimen, then I really do feel from that ship alone, opened door for humanity to progress with their tech. I don't believe at that time that an alien race helped us with THEIR tech. Humans had to work hard and use our own tools, manpower, and brain power to make something usable to contribute to mankind from the remains of this space ship.

Okay, so here's another story from the guy at work.

He's in his room reading a book and feels drowsey, like a force is comming over him.

Suddenly he sees multi colored flashing lights across hid eyes.

He has been transported somewhere. He climbs a rock and then a chain link fence. When he gets to the top there is a wooden catwalk. He also sees many dome like structures large enough to be buildings as far as the eye can see. The catwalk can be used to travel from dome to dome.

He thinks to himself that this is real, and that he is awake.

He sees a being with ghost white skin around one of the domes who turns to look at him. The being looks surprised, like, what are you doing here, what are you, you don't belong here.

He climbs back down the fence and rock and he's back in his room just like that.

Maybe he was really sick and had a high fever that hit him suddenly. I still love hearing encounters like this though, real or not. I wish I knew people that interesting in real life.

The guy has too many stories for it to be sickness.

It runs in his family he said, and his brother even wrote a book about it.

He's bringing me the book on Saturday. I can't wait.

I just hope it isn't written on notebook paper in crayon, because they I might have to fire his ass.

He says the book has been published, but I won't see him till Saturday.

Thanks dude, it will probably be a good read. I think today, I need to watch War of the Worlds.

Like I said before, they always abduct generations of families. Sad thing is, if he has kids, they will probably have to deal with it to. People make fun of this all the time. But think about it, these people didn't ask to have this happen to them.(At least not most) These people are really suffering, and when they try to open up to people about what happened to them, people just laugh and say they are crazy.

If the truth ever comes out, this is really going to be a tragic story about how most of humanity didn't care that this was happening to them.

"The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it has never tried to contact us." - Calvin, Calvin & Hobbes

One of my favorite quotes regarding the existance of aliens on Earth. While I do think it would be arrogant and presumptuous to assume we are the only intelligent life in the universe, I also think the same way when it comes to aliens visiting us. What makes us so special?

Is it the same reason anything Cybertronian will always land on Earth, regardless of its initial position or location? ;)

That irks the shit out of me too, especially since I'm in the industry and actually studied the history of computers and technology. There is a logical and natural progression with the science surrounding it and no one made an otherwise unexplanable leap like those theories seem to claim.

Nothing, They are here to save their own ass, and just using us to do it. And the truth is, they don't care if people believe in them or not. As long as it doesn't get in the way of whatever they are doing. They could careless.

nakobass 11-09-2011 02:28 PM

One more thing, I have never seen a UFO or Alien my whole life. But when over 10 million people around this planet are seeing the same thing, there is something to it.

I use the trial by jury logic. If 10 people say you robbed a bank, your going to prison.
If 10 million people say aliens are taking them and experimenting on them, your trying to tell me they're all crazy?

solo0525 11-09-2011 03:04 PM

I would think there something else out there besides us .. so theres a possibilty

Not that I disagree entirely, that's not a good argument. You're talking about 10 people in a bank, with cameras in a controlled group. 10 people were in the bank, 10 people saw it. 10 million people out of a population of 7 billion report saying aliens abducted them. What's that percentage vs the percentage of people who are either delusional or liars. Given the percentages it's like saying 1 guy out of the 10 at the bank says he saw somebody steal something from the teller that the cameras didn't quite catch. Could he be lying or crazy or not, who knows for sure.

Not that I'm agreeing or disagreeing with you. It's just a bad argument.

I've never seen bigfoot or aliens either. But I often climb mountains in remote wooded or desert areas at night all by myself and if you were to prove to me that either of those things exist, I would never venture out into the wilderness alone again.

Yes. Yes I am.

Whem people toss around alien abduction numbers they forget to mention (or never learn) that over half the abduction stories in the UNited States come from...big cities.
Hundreds of claims are made by people living in Manhattan and the five boroughs.
Sorry, but that's nutty- NO ONE ELSE reports anything but someone in an apartment in the middle of a high rise says aliens came into his room and took him for a ride.

No.

then there's the amazing coincidence that abduction claims have dropped off to nearly nothing since two things happened:
X-Files went off television and cameras suddenly are in everything.
Ever hear of a bunch of Greys getting filmed by a bunch of iphones?

Me neither.

And scientists can induce what's called a Temporal Lobe Seizure that reproduces the most common alien encounter experiences- an inability to move, teror and dread that they were being watched, figures moving at the corner of their vision.
And these are subjects in a lab. People told in advance what to expect- not terrified people in their beds that have seen a million alien stories on TV and movies.
Add a dash of imigination and a pinch of desperately trying to understand the situation...

In midevil times, people thought this experience was the work of Incubus or Succubus- demons sent to seduce people in their beds.

This later spiritual interest can be rooted in subjective experiences of a variety of phenomena kindled by electrical instabilities in the brain. They include, but are not limited to depersonalization, time distortion, anxiety or panic, floating or falling sensations, peripheral imagery, a sense of presence either sacred or malefic, apparitions, downloading of memory sequences and false memory confabulations or fantasies, voices and visionary experiences ranging from heavenly to hellish, and a panoply of psychophysical manifestations.

And YES- there are crazy looking videos from places like Israel that are unexplained.
But "unexplained" does not automaticly mean "alien visitors" either.

Throught the 1980's pilots saw black, triangular shaped aircraft that either shot by them or seemed to hang in the air silently.
And they did not show up on radar!

Often near the mysterious "Area 51"!

Must be ALIENZ!

Or it was the USAF flying covert Stealth Bomber and "stealth fighter" missions to Groom Lake's test facilities.

Generally there is a ten to fifteen year gap between the military testing it's black projects and revealin them to the general public.

Here's a great website for more crital thinking explaining the supposedly unexplained:

I don't think it is anymore arrogant to think that life is exclusive to earth than to think that it is not, given that we don't even know how life on earth originated to begin with.

I think arogance comes in when we assert that we know conclusively one way or another, when the reality is that we don't.

As to why aliens would visit the earth and what makes us so special.

Clearly intelligent life is rare, we know of no other life, let alone intelligent life, in the universe. If you had the ability to visit the other world that had it, wouldn't you?
