|

Edit: Well I received a call from the manager just as promised and once again the dynamite customer service that WM provides is in full force. I was told that she had put several calls into other stores to see if they had them and nothing but the main obstacle was she still did not have the UPC #'s. Fellow collectors, I ask you this how hard do you think this manager looked for those UPC #'s because it took me all of 10 seconds to find them online. This prompted to send the followng e-mail to WM corporate: Last week I had sent an e-mail of complaint regarding a negative experience concerning this location. Unfortunately, I have to send another one. On 10/23/09 I received a phone call from a manager named J at this location who seemed like she was concerned about collectibles being bought up by the employees before they hit the sales floor and wanted to not only put a stop to it in the future but see what can be done for me in regards to this situation. To reiterate, I shop at this location on semi-daily basis and aside from other things that I buy, I always check for collectibles in the toy dept. In particular an exclusive Mattel product called DC Unvierse wave 10 action figures. I had heard from other collectors most collectibles are grabbed and purchased by employees right as they are being unloaded from the truck in particular an employee named S who works in the sporting goods dept. at this store. When I confronted the toy dept manager M about it and also pointed out that I have seen several cases of Hot Wheels already gone through as they are being brought out from the truck, she just laughed it off which upset me because I go there everyday looking for these items and M is the employee that always sees me there. J's response was sympathetic and she told me she would follow up with me on 10/26/09 and that she would get the UPC #'s for the items I am looking for and see if she can do a store search and try get them from another store which I felt if there was any interest in servicing me as a regular customer that it would have been done before she placed the call to me. While I understand situations arise and perhaps customer service issues take precedence over other ones, I still would have appreciated some type of reassurance that my situation is being addressed. As matter of fact I found UPC codes to most of the items, #27084-72809, 27084-72810, and 27084-72808. Would someone please address this issue. |
sorry i have to disagree, if i see it on the shelf im buying it when im off the clock, im not going to wait for the scalpers who come in and pallet dive to take them and put them on ebay, i think youre attributing a WHOLE OTHER PROBLEM to employees, nor am i going to call everyone in town and make sure they dont want them b4 i get them, i dont know if youve seen walmart employees checks there are no perks to them.....if its on the shelf or even the pallet all night EVERYONE has had fair chance. Youre almost just saying that they cant collect action figures just because they work there. while theyre on the clock thats customer service time on the sales floor. after that its shopping time.

I was reading this thread when my wife called from a walmart--I had her check the toy aisle, and I'm getting a Joker and a Man Bat!
She left Robot Man, Power Girl, and one or two others at the Indiana, PA Walmart if anyone is in the area. |
You are a lucky man! Congrats! Sure wish I could even hunt for these things: curse Walmart Canada for dropping the line!

mattycollector's facebook says they are shipping now, http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mattyc...d=186535173759 i kinda find that hard to believe for now anyway. this is not a store tho, this place never closes, the general public has just as much of a chance to get them as i do anyway. Quote:
"Employee benefits, various non-wage compensations provided to employees in addition to their normal wages" again i have just as much chance as anyone who comes into the store at stocking time and so do most other employees. 90% of the whole cases on ebay are from ppl who make a living almost of pallet diving (non employees) who get there at stocking time, i know ive seen them! this is not a toystore its a 24/7 world |
If you're not working, you're a potential customer just like everyone else. A perk, by definition, is something that an employee receives in addition to his/her salary or wages. Some employers consider vacation and sick leave "perks" for their employees. So knowing what day and time a particular item arrives and is stocked would be a perk for the staff, if they are interested in purchasing said item.
But to say that employees are not allowed to buy certain items until all the other collectors have had a chance is rather one-sided. That would be treating them like automotons, not people. Sure I think it's a little underhanded for an employee to take a shortpacked or in-demand toy and leave it in the back so he/she can buy it when they clock out. But that is sadly one of the few benefits for retail employee that don't work off commission. Some stores have policies that state an employee must leave the item on the sales floor until he/she clocks out and then he/she may buy it at that time (if still available). Other policies allow employees to hold items in the back of the store to purchase after their shifts are over. I've worked in both environments, and I've also been on the customer side of things. Once I had a store employee check in the back for an item for me and he actually told me that they had one left but it was being held for another employee for purchase later that day. Needless to say I was upset, but I also knew that was a perk of the job. I also think pallet diving should be banned everywhere. No item is that damned important that you couldn't wait for the store to put it on the shelf first. If you want to get whole cases of a product, then buy it directly from the manufacturer or buy it from a store that sells it that way. My 2 cents. |
well I live in south florida and I had a walmart that recieved them and there were none left except for the Batman and joker from wave ten that a employee had hidden and gave it up to me. he was super awesome for doing so.

With the recent news that the newest waves are still shipping, well, pics or it didn't happen Mattycollector. Distribution and absent waves/figures have been a problem for Mattel since the 2002 MOTU line, happened frequently with DCSH, and it remains a problem now. |
well hardwork finally paid off, after getting off work i went to the store in between me and my gf's house where i usually also check among 2 other stores 3 times a week, yes i have looked for these long and hard too! and gues what, i see an empty DCU box sticking out of a cart of cardboard, and i know this store has had 1 lonely captain cold for months, so im excited, and yes i got the full wave, left some batmen behind tho...so i guess its true....theyre still coming!!!!

A friend of mine just picked up a Joker for me, he kept the Power Girl, at his local WM UPC # 027084728071. He was told by that store's manager that more are on the way next month and that there will be an end cap display of them. I am starting to hold my breathe again.

First, one of the main reasons that this thread has run way longer than it should is because of the uneven distribution with this product. I do not know about low production runs because since wave 9 all I have been hearing is they are going to keep shipping more despite what anyone else had said about it and there does seem to be more being purchased lately at retail. As a matter of fact my local comic book shop just received 2 cases of wave 9 last week.
However, when it comes to store employees who collect I believe it is unfair to the collector off the street who stops at a store everyday and comes out empty handed because the in demand items are being bought up by greedy employees before they hit the floor. I agree that pallet divers who scalp are just as much to blame for this but it is ridiculous to say employees who cannot wait and do not let the general public get first crack at them, regardless of the circumstances, at least during the initial shipment is the lesser of 2 evils. Here is a point that the pro employees who collect people have missed, in my case greedy store employees caused this headache, no one else. I have every right as a customer and a collector to complain about it so would anybody, my critics included. I guess some people think everyone else is fine with paying inflated prices for weeks old items on Ebay because the merchandise has not hit the sales floor due to employee purchases but they are sadly mistaken. |
Oh man these things dropped in price hard. LOL. I still haven't gotten any yet but all in good time. I started seeing a lot more in local comic book shops at $30 a piece. I'm still going to wait until I find them in an actual Wally World.
Anyone here familiar with wave 9 variants? I got a purple Wildcat and the Chemo Toros has no inner bubbles, I'm told this is rare, but why? |

Ohio got another shipment of wave 10 yesterday. |
karma, karma was getting the WM figures i wanted by driving to another local store on the way to the gf's house that even though i didnt work at, and i checked twice a week, they were sitting on the shelves when i got there they were there for both me and my friend. and i knew theyd be there eventually because...well just because... ;) and even though i had to drive in the rain, for the PE, i got to see my best friends new super target in spite of some guy. who you obviously read the follow up on and comes into my store and looks at our action figures haha. for the record im here to help fellow collectors and to not trash OR BE TALKED TRASH ABT. and as far as tea parties, haha we use alittle somthing stronger than tea. ANY FURTHER ARGUMENTS TO ME SHOULD BE VIA PM or result in infractions from here on, continue DCUC10 thread....

That last 1 made me laugh. I see your point and I just hope you see mine. It looks like there might be intelligent life at WM after all.
