Ive tried and tried to watch this show. The last 3 I havent even finished....For a show with great Animation to have it waisted on such crap.....a Shame really.
I watch all my shows on Project free TV and its just starting to get to a point where I wouldnt even take money to watch this show....... My 3 year old daughter loooooooves Spiderman. She watches both 80s Shows (Spiderman, Spiderman and his Amazing friends). She loves them!!! She was sitting on my lap watching the one where he turned into a Toaster cause some villian said he was toast......she looked at me and said "Daddy this isnt Spiderman, Spiderman doesnt look like toast".....your right honey...this isnt Spiderman..... |
I enjoyed Hulk last episode but the whole "caught on film" thing the episode was presented in got really old really fast. I hate movies like that (goddamn Cloverfield) and I really don't want to watch TV shows like that.

of all the characters in this series... I *want* to like White Tiger. After reading a little bit about her, I think of all the characters, she has the most potential.
But... she's just so.... sooo..... bland. There is nothing striking about her outfit. It's just so generic, and reeks of lack of imagination. (Maybe that's just me, I feel that way about a lot of Marvel's more current newer character designs. I'll admit that could just be me) Her personality and character doesn't stand out. Which is really sad, because out of costume, her character design is drop dead gorgeous. I just can't help but feel her role would be better served by Black Cat. After thinking a lot about it, I don't think I would be so negative about this series had it been named something else. Like "Marvels: Agents of SHIELD" It just feels like, the show is not what the name advertizes. When I see something titled Spiderman, I personally expect the series to have a really strong focus on Spiderman, and the surrounding characters. I can even accept traditionally non-spiderman characters, when they're introduced in an organic way (Such as Torch, Iceman, Kitty. They all became apart of the Ultimate Spiderman mythos in a very real and organic way). As such, being Ultimate Spiderman, I would expect a stronger link to the group, and even going so far as to expect the supporting teenage heroes to be from the Spiderman Gallery. if not Torch, Iceman, and Kitty, then there are other characters that could easily fit their niche. Black Cat as mentioned springs to mind immidiately. Heck, they could even use Harry with his Spiderman 3 "New Goblin" identity. That would be different. Maybe Daredevil acting as a non-SHIELD mentor. But like I said, since the series has a very low focus on the Spiderman world, and uses a completely random mix of supporting heroes who have nothing to do with the Spiderman world, I think I would be a lot more forgiving as a whole if they had simply titled it differently, while using the spiderman setting as a somewhat familier backdrop. Marvels: Agents of SHIELD works great, I think. I'm working on a "treatment" for what I would have enjoyed from "Ultimate Spiderman," trying to keep some of the guidelines set by the show (Such as the expanded cast) I'll post that a bit later after I've worked it out a bit more, if anyone wants to read it. |
Here's what I would have liked to seen:
Ultimate Spiderman- Simply because the actual USM is so sub-par, and doesn't live up to the name. For Spiderman's personality, I draw mostly from the USM comic. I do go my own way on a few elements though. Main Characters: Spiderman/Peter Parker- A high strung highschooler, Pete lives an extremely stressful double life. Tends to get freaked out easily. Really takes to heart his uncle's saying "With great power, comes great responcibility." However, he's still a rookie, and ends up getting by by the skin of his teeth. Spiderman came into his own and came under everyone's radar when he successfully put the kibosh on the villainous CEO, Normal Osborn. Black Cat/Felicia Harding- Intially given the Super Soldier Syrum by her father to hide it from the Kingpin, he threatens him to force her to doing his dirty work, becoming a catburgler. When she's ordered to take out Spiderman, she's moved when he offers to help rescue her father instead. Firestar/Angelica Jones- A young homeless mutant, thrown out of her house and family when her powers first manifested, she's still eager to do the right thing, protecting a world that hates and fears her. She feels a kinship to the equally ostricized Spiderman because of that fact. Eventually, she's taken in by Aunt May. Goblin/Harry Osborn- Peter's childhood best friend. He blaimed Spiderman for the destruction of his father, and doned the technology to create the Green Goblin. Using it, he set out to kill Spiderman and get revenge. However, when he unmasked Spiderman and discovered his true identity, he realized that Pete wouldn't lie to him. Turning himself around, he vowed to use this same technology to make up for his father's sins. Aunt May also takes him in. Mary Jane Watson-- Pete's longtime love interest and childhood friend. She, Pete, and Harry grew up together. After discovering Pete's identity pretty early on, she's been his best support in keeping his double life a secret from Aunt May, and their school mates. While their relationship may be rocky, she always has his back and never lets on how badly his double life stresses her, or the nightmares she faces. Daredevil/Matt Murdock- The Man Without Fear has been active for many years, with taking down Kingpin being his top priority. However, as of late there are several rookies with very little idea of what their doing, screwing things up. On separate occasions, Spiderman, Goblin, Firestar, and Blackcat have all screwed up different chanced he's had to bust Kingpin once and for all. Understanding that they all mean well enough, and have the raw talent to be something great in their own right, Daredevil gets tired of their meddling and eventually gathers the four up to train them himself. To work as a team, and to become better on individual levels. Supporting cast: Nick Fury- Figured out the identities of all these young rookies almost immidiately, and has had SHIELD watching them closely ever sense. Feels a personal responcibility for Peter Parker, as his mother was once one of his top agents, and feels responcible for the deaths of both his parents, leaving him to be orphaned at a very young age. He has diverted resources to help protect and maintain Parker's identity, more than he has for any others. See's the potential for something great in Peter. While having gone most of Peter's life without the two formally meeting, he has always been a background player in Peter's life. Aunt May Parker- A sharp cookie, it didn't take long for Aunt May to figure out Peter is Spiderman. Innitially hated Fury, and blaimed him for her Neice's death, she and her husband Ben took Peter in and raised their nephew as their own. She has since begun to come around and stopped blaiming Fury for things beyond his control, and accepted his help in providing a safehouse for Spiderman and "his amazing friends." Kingpin- The main villain of the series, Kingpin is the "Nick Fury" of organized Crime. He has his hands in everything, but at the same time, extremely difficult to prove he has connections to anything. One of the most popular New York socialites, he keeps his approval ratings and opinions of him high, by building hospitals, donating to orphanages, and showing a lot of humanitarian work. Fury knows he's as corrupt as it gets, and all his charity work is just a cover. Small cost to him for the fortune he makes through illigal means. But even Fury has a hard time making anything stick to him. Instead, he allows Daredevil to keep trying to bring him down, and allowing Daredevil to take the political heat if he fails. -I followed some of the themes the actual USM cartoon has set up, such as other teenaged rookie heroes. But used ones that make more sense to the spiderman franchise. I would have used Iceman, Kitty, and Torch, but felt that Marvel would probably prefer to leave them more attached to their respective X-Men and F4 properties. Scaled back the presence SHIELD has, and decided to use the very underused Daredevil (Who has a simular shtick as Spiderman) to be the group's mentor and trainer. Fury and SHIELD still has a presence, but they work more in the background. Also feel that Kingpin is one of the more underused Marvel villains, and with strong ties to both Spiderman and Daredevil, as well as removing Osborn before the series even starts, Kingpin makes a lot of sense as the omnipresent main villain. |
SO MUCH TEXT. You're practicaly writing a DnD book there Jetty. Oh and another spectacuraly shitty episode of spiderman and his Amazing Teen Titans!
|
If Jetty's Spider-Man series ever sees the light of day count me as a loyal viewer. Love it especially DD being their mentor.

And he makes a lot of sense to use as a major supporting character in a Spiderman series (Especially since they say his staff, and the spidey staff are supossedly always fighting over who owns Kingpin). And thanks! |
Daredevil is so under rated, last episode I saw was the Hulk one with cam panning around, made my head spin a bit:p

oh god, imagine if Moon knight showed up,he'd have a inner monologue with himself.

This show reminds me of one thing.....
One of those winter mornings when you walk into your yard and happen to walk by your cat or dog just taking a poo in the yard and its steaming...... This show is a cold morning poo in my yard steaming from what could have been a hot show. Cap is my Favorite Character and even if he guest starred I would not watch.... I dont get how this show could have turned into this show. The animation is so kick ass. The costars could be great. Make Richard Rider Nova, Keep Iron Fist and Powerman, get rid of WhiteImGettingOnNerves Tiger and add someone cooler.....is she Black, Really Dark White Girl, Hispanic? |
white tiger is hispanic. shes alot more tolerable in avengers academy.

Her background is irrelevant. This show just didn't turn out to be good. End of story. Not everything Marvel does turns out great. Unfortunately this time it just happened to a show I was really looking forward to.
I finally watched the Taskmaster Episode on Symbiote's DVR on our lunch break the other day. Yeah, didn't miss anything. They made Taskmaster seem more like Uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite then anything I was hoping for. Lord Marvel...You are one loyal Marvel fan, carnal. But this show is still mierda. |

Newsarama.com : Bendis to ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN Viewers: 'It's For Kids'
Doesn't change my mind about watching anymore of this show, however, I wasn't aware that it was the number 1 rated show on Disney XD. I told you guys that Disney fan base was large. And Spidey does have a lot of non comic book reading fans from the movies alone. That comment about this isn't a showtime show and they make it with kids in mind, makes me question what they intend on making with more mature fans in mind. What about us? |
I like this show. It feels to me a lot like some of that cartoons I watched with my little sister about 10 years ago, with some modern twists. I like the random little segues with the video game announcers, chibi shoulder angels... so needless to say I'm happy at the prospect of a second season.

We know the show is aimed at kids. They all are. It's friggin' disney XD. We, as a mature and adult auduiance are perfectly capable of accepting a well written children's show. Phineas & Ferb. My Little Pony: FiM (I know I know, not disney. But the example works). Both are infinitely silly. Both extremely popular with adult fans. Neither dumb themselves down to children. They both accept that children are intellegent sentient creatures. And as such, are both very popular with adults. |
Ok, another example - anyone know The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh from the early 90s? That show was awesome when I was a little kid, but watching some episodes now, I realize the writing and subtle humor are wonderful for a little kids show. I think part of the thing the animated TV industry needs to get is that if they make childrens TV shows intelligent, parents will watch it too, and if parents don't feel like their intelligence is being insulted, they'll keep watching. When parents watch, there's more family time (which is always a plus) and the parents are more likely to buy merchandise for the kids.
