Just read the latest issue of New Avengers and all I can say is that New Avengers is officially the only thing good happening with this event story-wise for me. It basically gives you a story of centuries ago when another unamed red head was foreseen in a dream by Yu Ti (Grand Master of the mystical city of K'un Lun) along with a fiery bird. She ends up in K'un Lun and Yu Ti declares she is destined to become the next Iron Fist. Also, due to the unknown nature of Yu Ti's vision he calls upon Leonardo da Vinci as a consultant because he is revered by him as the only human with enough knowledge on Earth at the time that could possibly be of service....

That's all I will say about this tie in for now. I would recommend anyone with a MDU subscription read the entire brubaker/fraction run of Immortal Iron Fist to familiarize yourselves with the mythology because it certainly made a difference for me (plus those stories were great; Immortal Iron Fist).

dont forgot how the issue linked with the SHIELD miniseries.

well, the davinci part was a big giveaway. hes drawn exactly the same as how he was in the miniseries. Its not clear yet if Davinci is working with SHEILD at the time though.

I want to see what Davinci is doing for the new SHIELD- and what Daisy and Reb Ralston have planned for the new Hydra- after all, they have an anti-Hydra-kill-squad that makes X-Force seem like a girl scout troop.
And Davinci was there with the new SHIELD at the end of Secret Warriors....

Assuming a writer out there has the brains of balls to use the characters, that is.

The Iron Fist background is interesting- it seems the Phionex has a thing for redheads- maybe it should go to Wolverine- no one has a bigger thing for redheads than Logan.

It was a shame they ended secret warriors. And wait a minute, where were these guys during the avengers' war against normans massive henchman army? Did the writers just forget about all those characters?

So I'm not too big on buying comic books. I always kept up with events but never bought and comics. Then I heard about avx and figured now would be a good time to start. I'm loving it, I only bought the main series and was probably going to get the avx VS as well. What do you guy think about the other tie-ins? Should pick those up also?

Scroll up and see what's been said so far. Different people are collecting certain tie-in's over others. If it peaks your interest go for it. If it turns out not to your liking...drop it.

It's hard to say, you never know if something is actually important to an event, or if they just threw the logo on to sucker us in.
Secret Avengers is pretty cool, they sent a suicide squad of Avengers into space to stop/delay the Phoenix. New Avengers is establishing a link between Iron fist and the phoenix and is pretty interesting, but it might help to have a general idea of the Iron fist mythos. I've only flipped through xmen legacy, but it looks pretty interesting. Can't think of any others off the top of my head....

so what happened in the x books this week. we jsut talked about new avengers, what about the other two tie ins?

Well in WATXM Cyke basically put Logan on the spot with making him decide if he's an X-Man or Avenger. He basically said he never stopped being an X-Man he just stopped agreeing with Cyclops in general. In the end, Wolverine still held his position as not wanting to join Cyke...but, Rachel, Gambit, Iceman and Angel told Logan they would fight with Scott on this and hope they will be welcomed back to the school afterward because they felt that Jean would have wanted for them to help Hope. Wolverine didn't chastise them, instead he just responded, "Hopefully there will be something to come back to."

Angel tried to prove to himself and everyone else that he really was is an actual Angel by flying to Heaven, and instead passes out from lack of oxygen and is saved by Genesis (kid apocalypse). Meanwhile Genesis finally figures out that all the kids have been making fun of him because he looks like a young version of one their greatest and most evil villains. He asks Angel in return for saving his life what he sees when he looks at him. Angel sees Apocalypse but lies and says he only sees good in him. Its at that point that Angel accepts he isn't a real Angel but only a mutant, not just because he didn't make it to Heaven, but because he was able to lie. So he decided that since he's a mutant he should fight for mutants.

So I just read the whole thread. I'm ganna have you guys keep me informed with all the tie-ins :D. You guys summarizes and then throw in back story! It's like a wiki in this thread. So Cyclopes is saying the phoenix is coming for a reason. That they can train hope and its going to bring birth for the mutant race. I think that's why hes so out of character. He truly believes the phoenix can bring good. That or mofo is just crazy...

The feeling ive got is that hes become the mutant equivalent of a preacher. That and hes probably gonna go a little off the deep end now thats hes about to re-experience the death of his wife.

Yeah I think its perfect for cykes to be acting this way. I mean it is the phoenix. Hows he not going to be a little out of character. But he definitely sounds like a radical.

I keep desperately hoping that he's being manipulated by Sinister or the Shadow King or Magneto to make Hope into the Phionex host- that's the only explanation for his insane behavior.
Hell, maybe his nutty actions are being manipulated by Unit- it's sure got Hope and Danger wrapped around it's finger....

Cyclops is going to go completely off the deep end, form his own mutant brotherhood and Magneto will lead the X Men in a total role reversal!
Seriously though, I'm enjoying this series so far and I think Cap is acting a little more out of character than either Wolverine or Cyclops. With Wolverine they're falling back on some of his older personality traits and Cyclops has been acting increasingly edgier for a while. Cap however, does not usually haul off and kick someone out of a plane for "not listening."

What I want to know is how come Professor X isn't in this? He's been out for a few issues to long...and he's alive too!

As someone who doesn't follow Xmen at all, I've been kinda wondering what ever happened to him. I know he got shot at the end of Messiah complex, then literally disappeared, then was magically fine right after that. He might've had a comeo in Second coming too, but still, you'd think he'd have abit more to contribute nowadays considering he's watching mutants go down the exact opposite route he ment for them.

So my theory is, now its a little crazy. But I'm thinking that the phoenix is coming for Scarlet Witch. OR shes going to play a huge role in stopping it. The chick needs he redemption damn it.

Well, we know Wanda is in the crossover. It seems that since she's n the outs with the Avengers (some of them anyhow) and hated by most of the mutants (though the Blob would likely fall on his knees in thanks), her and Hope will team up to try and control the power.
No one knows the dangers of unucontrolled power like she does and the power of the Phoinex may be enough to let Wanda undo her "No more mutants" spell.

But yeah- she needs redemption!
Hell, if she could just make the mutant abilities optional like the Glamor Mutants of the X-Men. The X-Men with Cyclops talk all sorta of smack about how intolerant humans are and how physical appearance does not matter but since they all look like magazine models it's so much bullshit. Nightcrawler got killed and the Beast is more Avenger than anything else- and all the freakish mutants went with Logan, where they're isolated in a private school, far from the public. Cyclops' little militia compound off the coast of San Fransisco only drives up that fear and hate of mutants- or worse, makes them seem as pitiful as pandas.

That dream of Xavier's is truly dead as a doornail- only X-Factor interacts with the public and promotes any human-mutant relations.

It would be great if Xavier started a group of established non-x-men mutants to serve as ambassadors- representing utants without all the non-stop revenge attacks the X-teams attract.
Xavier was there for the opening of Wolverine's school but declined a teaching position- saying that he always hoped his students would take over the school- though he never dreamed that it would be Logan would step up to the responsibility- and their lack of speaking about Cyclops said more about Xavier's opinion of Utopia than anything.

Hell, just look at Cyclops- he's made himself judge and jury- secretely inprisoning mutants like Illiana or Shaw, Pierce and others- when their victims are almost exclusivly humans. That's some bullshit, right there.

Oh shit! I just saw a preview that had Cyclops utter the words, "No more Avengers!"...

Could he have found a way to manipulate Wanda into doing to them what she did to the Mutants? You can't just make the Avengers go away anyway. Not after the Power of Whedon just made them the most popular superhero team in the world, lol.
