Picked up a few other figures while I was there for FCBD.

What kind of store is Hastings? I ordered fury and panther from Amazon at $24.99 and that is where it came from. They had the sticker on the bottom of package.

@Von
I knock stuff over all the time. I've become a little better at catching them before they fall to the floor!

I have always imagined Daredevil to be a close-range bludgeoning fighter, in spite of his ninja capabilities. Similar to Batman, Daredevil strikes fear into punks by hospitalizing them. Moon Knight is another malicious-moves hero. The sense I get with these particular heroes is that their foes get what they deserve, but aren't executed (well, Moon Knight might be an exception). But they are all capable of any feat preformed by Olympic level gymnasts and professional tumblers.

It's a specialty/collectibles store. They started with books (including comics), music, and sorta nick-knack type stuff but have evolved to be a larger more encompassing collectibles store which now greatly includes toys and figures plus movies, games, etc. They also have their website gohastings.com which has a store locator if you feel so inclined.

..so..i've heard some of you go on about this store and never heard of or saw it before...prior to the Ark..So i look at the site (via the link u posted)..<< me thinking these stores are only FAR out west>>
There is one.. 1hour from my house.. BUT ..the interesting thing is. I've passed this place so many times....it's right near my brothers house AND looking at the map I was in a store LITERALLY RIGHT NEXT to this place in April, but never paid it any mind..
soooooo...thanks for the info.

Got a free Hulkbuster pelvis in the mail yest. and modded it so it will turn in the torso. I didn't carve the square into a circle but into an octagon so he "clicks" into place with each increment you turn him. Really came out great.

It's expensive because most people don't care that the hands are too big in comparison to how cool the rest of the figure is. I would definitely give him Black Ant fists if I got him, but he is perfect for my Spider-Verse display. The 45-degree hips aren't a deal-breaker, and Hasbro gave him the new ankle rockers and better forearms, so he's the best of both worlds, just like IF. Bullseye coupled with the new Hasbro aesthetic.

Don't worry, Byrnes just hooked me up with a first appearance variant Creed from that TB face-off pack (the best Sabretooth fig, in my book). Suffice it to say that I have plans that involve Wolverine...

Nice. I do love that Sabes, and yup, best version so far. For my money, if Hasbro would just do a Jim Lee version on the Venom body, he'd finally be surpassed.

Good points.

I forgot to mention before:

I also did a Gambit similar to this, and swapped parts on Forge and Wolvie to make Forge a bit better (each body in that pack has some real drawbacks but when combined they're much better).

With this and my green Banshee, I glued the wings/cape against the edges of the figure all the way down. Once they come out with a new Banshee or Strike Team version, I'm going to do the same job on them.

Yup. Superglue along the entire length of the edge where the cloth would meet the body if Hasbro had done that. The cloth even covers the seams of the plastic of the figure.

I can do that job for anyone who has the requisite parts.

Spyne98 05-08-2016 05:44 PM

Nitelife, that Morph is awesome!!!!
Squeezplay, I love that Banshee!
I love the strike team costumes too. That would be a cool box set!

Are the shoulders removable from the torso? I can boil/pop and heat up the arms and pull them off but the shoulder piece seems attached to the torso. Also what about the legs. I'm getting a sense the older Hasbro bodies and the newer hasbro bodies have two different styles and don't really jive to well for customizing. Thanks.

If you want a really good detailed step by step for breaking down a Legends figure, check out ClayOrrNot Customs on YouTube. He has a really detailed section on breaking down and prepping a custom. Totally worth the view for all ML collectors who are interested in customizing and/or repairing their figures. Fair warning, dude likes his swear words and he belches in the mic a few times so if you are concerned about that kind of stuff, maybe watch it on mute.

@TBM
More great shots bud!

@Phantomcrow
Awesome haul! I swear Hastings has better comic related stock than half the comic shops I have been to. At least the one I was in a couple years ago seemed to.

UGH, I so want to go hunt down new stuff but I am moving to KC in a month and have no spare cash. Hopefully the stock is better there although I believe one member here is from that area and seems to have good luck so here's hoping.

Thanks :^) The best part is I found several of that 2-pack at local TJ Maxx and Marshalls for $7 each! I bought 3 and let a friend grab one, and left 2 for other collectors.

I now wish I had more because the Bullseye type upper body is the only old one I want to use for those customs. If Hasbro does parts on the new bodies in the right colors I could get away with just swapping lower legs onto my existing ones. But some of mine still have that other upper body that has that really super-bent neck and weird sculpt, that they used for Fantomex.

Thanks for the heads up. I love watching tutorials, even for stuff I already do. It helps to see other peoples' processes.

Did you recently find them? Or was this when these were initially released?

Thanks for the tip. Checked it out. Interesting, that's a lot of holes to put into a figure. But I am going to try that for a beast figure I'm working on. Legs will not come out. Drilling may be my only option.

Logging on here again just as a Public Service Announcement, but DO NOT follow that ClayOrrNot Youtube video on disassembly and start drilling holes in all those spots. What you should be doing is drilling in areas that won't be visible when you put the figure back together. His method is certainly one way to do it (and I know a lot of other customizers drill into the body from the outside like that as well), but it is definitely not the best way.

There was some funny competition banter between the 2 :P

I may give up on the black panther. He's now running at over $300 through Amazon third party sellers. I knew he was going to be hot figure from this wave but that's just ridiculous. It's not like I don't already have a black panther in my collection.

Ouch. Speaking of Cat's Hellcat is cheap on HTS for custom fodder if anything.

Thank you mightily, buddy! Good luck with the move....if you haven't already relocated....

@Nash
$300? That's nearly twice the going rate for the entire wave. I anticipate Hasbro reproducing this figure with each subsequent appearance for the character within the MCU. He'll likely see an appearance in Avengers and there's the stand alone movie. Buyer beware...

Oh absolutely. I'm keeping him on my wishlist but I'm not hitting that button til he's under $30. I'm just amazed at the third party gouging. the $50 and even $75 I can see but $300 SMH.

Sorry, I should have said that this was about a year after their release.

I hadn't had a chance to watch the vid yet but you're right. I can crack torsos with much less damage than drilling holes. Usually with minimum gaps just by using a razor blade and a wide, thin, slotted screwdriver.

You're giving up on a figure that hasn't even seen a wide retail release yet? I'm not following the logic.

If you want, I can give you a holler when the wave starts showing up around here, and we might be able to work out a middleman deal. Because, seriously, I have yet to see figure one from that wave, and I frequent a majority of stores in San Diego county (which is not small, let me tell you).

you have a good point. Have yet to see any of this in stores and I'm sure in another month we will. I think I'll be okay on the wait. Just thought i might try and snag one early given we're moving sometime this summer, but not at those prices. Due to the relocating I'd not want to do a middleman deal either, too much could go wrong. But I really appreciate the offer. :) I don't get out that much anymore as I work from home so I'm not on the road that much, my store trips are now usually 3-5 stores my way and 3-5 stores down a friends' way in another part of town, which is why I mainly shop online. At any rate, keeping our eyes open on this wave for sure.

I should add I did buy Red Guardian online as he was around $22, not that bad of a price. Just wish they were all that much!

Fair enough. Fortunately for me, my wife really enjoys the hunt, so we'll often check when were running other errands, or go on a 'Hunting Day' date.

Either way, I'll drop a note in this thread when I start seeing that wave!

Some are done, some are still WIPS. Also have Firestar, Beast, Enchantress and Cannonball on the table.
