I actually like the black Nick Fury and it really isn't a shock factor or political stance, it's a tactic to try and appeal to fans with a more diverse group of characters. Plus we get Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury because of the Ultimate version which does so well with the people that they introduce Nick Fury Jr. to the main Earth-616, so that was cool. Technically every alternate reality (Age of Apocalypse, Ultimate, 2099, Noir, etc.) is a different "what if" scenario.

Earth-616 and Earth-1610 are already gone, they were destroyed to make way for the new universe. Apparently there will be a new single main universe (not 616) but it will inhabit characters from Earth-616 and characters from Earth-1610 with some plots and stories from pre-Secret Wars II carrying over into the new post Secret War II universe. This isn't at all a for sure thing but I read somewhere that we may have already seen some of the new post-SWII universe as supposedly that universe may have been the setting of Rage of Ultron which might explain the difficulty of placing RoU into the Earth-616 time-wise so far. Marvel has said a number of times that this new universe isn't going to be a reboot like DC's recent New-52 reboot but just a refresh on the setting and plot points so new readers can effortlessly jump in (which is almost exactly what they said about Marvel-NOW).

I do like Sam Jackson as Fury in the movies, and I couldn't imagine anyone else filling that roll, but I find it a little insulting when they just change a big name characters race, religion, sex, or sexual preference to fill some imaginary diversity quota, that is ultimately disproportionate to society as a whole. What they should be doing is MARKET THE GREAT CHARACTERS THAT ALREADY EXIST!!! why the hell, with the horror genera more popular than ever, do we not have an ongoing Blade series? where has Black Panther been? is he still married to storm? why does Falcon need to "Be" Captain America to be worthy of his own series, or spot on the Avengers? was he not every bit the Hero he is now before Cap got old? She Thor... I still haven't wrapped my head around that one, and if the demographic shift is really meant to attract a more diverse fan base, why is the only difference the skin tone? I haven't seen any effort to face any social issues in there writing. I'm not against any race of a character (hell Bishop is my second favorite MU character) but changing key elements just to make some kind of political statement just rubs me wrong. I find it forced and lazy writing. NOW everyone DEMAND! a re-launch of Tomb of Dracula in what ever Marvel is calling there post Secret Wars "new 52" world.

From solicitations it looks like things go to "normal" fairly quick or whatever..they call time...we already know that miles is on the new avengers after SW, Falcon will still be Falcon America, and (DAMN IT) we still have a female Thor....and they are taking on baddies...like Radioactive Man.... I think they will get rid of( WTF he has a son thats black and loses a damn eye fury jr) and just give us The Fury from 1610 with 616 Maria as his anchor to the ALL NEW ...ALL DIFFERENT 616/1610 POST SW World...maybe give us bad ass ultimate cap....crazy boy reed richards hiding with cabal, inferno jean grey, and then keep everyone else from the 616 universe...oh yeah please give dd his costume back, AIM as bad guys, ...some alternate logan...and thats all i can think about at the moment...oh yeah give us peter and mj as a couple with a kid

I'm with you except... the 616 Fury was a bad ass! with a much longer history than 1610 Fury, and Sam Jackson combined! and they need to bring back 616 wolverine, It's the easiest save ever. The sentient Virus is sentient, therefore could it not reactivate his healing factor to keep itself alive? then it's just a matter or cracking the Adimantium shell and scooping out the creamy Logan center, or have him teleported out, or have Kitty phase him out. anyway it's a really easy "kill off" to explain away.

I agree...the main reason for me saying 1610 fury was Marvel has a thing now where they want the comics to reflect the MCU version of things...it also gets rid of nick jr...have 1610..have to adjust to being in the new universe dealing with different versions of people he knew....plus his toy is easier to find (like how i brought our conversation back to toys lol)

I like the Avengers Assemble Nick Fury more than the regular movie Nick Fury toy. The head sculpt is a tad better and I really dig the navy-blue and white original SHIELD colors going on under the black trench coat.

Wait guys, it's my understanding that 616 is the MAIN universe, right? They are making another reboot? DC's Crisis=Marvel's Heroes Reborn, Ultimate=New 52. And they base the Cinematic Universe with the Ultimate one right? I'm tired of switching back and forth. Or rather re-telling of Origins. I don't even know what to tell my siblings cause they think I'm geeky enough for more info on these stuff. And truth be told I'm not, that's why I ask you guys.

616 was the main universe, it's gone now.
They aren't making a reboot, more so a change of scene. Marvel's only real reboot was Heroes Reborn which lasted very short until they looped back to the main reality. What Marvel likes to do is brand their different jumping-in points like the Heroic Age, Marvel-NOW, and what not but they haven't left the main group of characters and their stories. The Hulk and Iron Man we read today are the same characters from the '60s and they've kept all of their journeys from then it's just that now they're moving into a new cleaner neighborhood.
Ultimate is not a New-52 deal it's just a different reality with zero ties to any other reality (not like how Age of Apocalypse is a splinter of 616).
The MCU is based on the general concepts and universal idea of the characters established in the original stories (Earth-616) with more contemporary elements borrowed from alternate realities like Ultimate.

Interesting... I have kind of given up on trying to figure out the events/continuity and I just try to enjoy whatever I read now. It's gonna be hard for marvel to sync the books with the MCU (especially if they include AoS and daredevil etc.)... Is that the plan? Just something I read somewhere.
I'm also happy miles morales is in the next wave, I wonder if it will be him or Peter in the MCU.

I was also thinking it would be cool if marvel studios did a deaths head movie or had him as a Villian like a terminator, he is one of my favorite figures. It would be cool if the ragnarok thor cyborg clone was in thor 3.

I'm pretty sure they've said it'll be Peter Parker for the MCU, most people don't know who Miles Morales is outside of the comic community so he's not a safe play for Spider-Man in the movies. If the rumors are true then they're looking at Asa Butterfield for the role, but that's just a rumor and isn't concrete so don't put too much thought into that casting yet but if it's true then I feel pretty "meh" about the MCU Spider-Man. I feel like Spider-Man should just be an adult already and not still in the high-school/college age for the MCU. Especially since he was already married and had a fairly developed life during the Civil War story which meant he had a lot to lose whereas high-school Peter gets what? Suspended or something, see it just isn't the same.

They won't go that route. He was created by Reed Richards, Hank Pym, & Tony Stark for the Civil War, and Hemsworth isn't in Cap 3.

I've felt pretty meh about MCU Spider-Man since this whole mess started. I would've kept Garfield and just have him play Peter as his actual age (isn't he close to 30 or so?). Make him a high school science teacher like he was for a while in the comics and have it where he kind of gets roped into the Civil War. Recasting and starting over again was so unnecessary regardless of the mess Sony had on their hands.

Speaking of Spider-man, weren't there rumors of trying to introduce the clone saga to the movies? They were going to reveal the Sinister Six first then a 'cleaner' version of clone saga or spider-verse. Or are these just fan wishes?

I never heard of anything past the Sinister Six movie. I think there was a Venom movie with Carnage as the villain or something in the works because that makes sense before even putting the symbiote on Peter.

Got this in the mail today...the Quake head, the tables and map board..and Red She-Hulk. I put up my Maria Hill again because I changed her body to a POC Scarlett body, to match Quake..they have the lil logos on side of arm to look like shield agents.

I agree though I don't think the different versions will know they are from different realities. They will just be retconned as being the current version. Might have an older Logan who is very much like Old Man Logan, but it won't be written as a character from another universe or timeline.

So to return this to toys when Secret Wars was announced Marvel claimed to be working with licensees for this project. Hasbro was mentioned. Anyone see any Hasbro Secret Wars stuff solicited? Yeah me either. I do suppose that a Hasbro Secret Wars set could be at SDCC which would count sort of.
