That is a nice blend of WWE Elite parts and ML parts. I really like his size a lot better than the one Hasbro was going to make. To me the Hyperion body is just too big to use for the Sentry.

Yeah, I originally bought a Hyperion body to use for this project, but it just looked wrong size wise and would've needed a gargantuan head to go with it. The WWE line has been a lifesaver for custom parts for characters on the "slightly larger" size scale. It kills me that they didn't use the same design scheme for the DCUC line, but hey, that's typical DC for you. You need to put in work to mate a Hasbro upper body to the Mattel lower, but it pays off.
The Hyperion body is getting turned into a classic Drax the Destroyer now; much better suited to that size of character.

And I agree, Sentry should have a longer body and not look like the 80's Lou Ferigno.

It'd be a shame to lose out on all those RC's, but what are you going to do? I'm still jacked for the Cap and Spidey waves....and hopefully Jubilee too!

There was some talk at SDCC about trying to get the variants out maybe as a retailer exclusive the parts are tooled so we'll see them in some form or another some day maybe. But right now they said that they don't have any plans for them in the 2014 line :(

I really like using those Mattel WWE elite bodies for Marvel Characters. Plus they are a really good replacement for the SHIELD Agent body for those larger guys bigger than Bucky but smaller than Hyperion like Wonder Man. And the design of the elite figures really matches up well with the new ML bodies. It would have been very nice if they could have used them fro DC characters.

It would have been cool if they would have waited for the Hyperion body before making Drax. I look forward to seeing your Drax. Oh and I found when painting green skin it's best to start with a dark green base coat and then dry brush the lighter shades over top of that :)

Currently in the comics James Rhodes is the new Iron Patriot and he has an army of Iron Patriot drones, so that means troop building time...LOL

Thanks for the tips, Olds! Your work has been a big inspiration for me getting into customizing, so I appreciate the advice. I planned to use a black base coat for Drax and dry brush the lighter green on top, but I'll experiment with it to see if it comes out too dark.
Glad to hear your into the Elite bodies too. Another BIG plus about them: they're waaaaay cheaper and easily available compared to buying ML bodies for parts. When I read the recipes some folks use for their projects, I cringe at the thought of buying some of those older Legends figures for just a head, legs, etc.

Always glad to help :) If you ever happen to have any questions feel free to ask. It is really surprising how cheap you can pick up some elite figures for on ebay. I've been on a WWE Elite buying splurge to stock up on these great base figures. Oh here is a great resource for buying casted parts castingcave I buy from him quite often and the quality is top notch. I would say that they are the best casters out there right now.

I was cringing the whole IM3 movie, the new WM/IP makes the IM2 War Machine look 100% better.

ProfessorHov 11-14-2013 11:18 PM

Jean Grey ready for purchase on HTS. Go get her.

IM3 was fun. The red, white, and blue redesign works well. Much less clunky looking than the IM War Machine.

Ok so with the demise of MU I've been giving the Legends a shot.Slowly they've been winning me over. In recent weeks I've picked up a gamma punch Hulk,a classic I'M, Dark Wolverine,Ultron,Bucky Cap, and now a Madame Hydra. My collection now sits at about 25 or 30. Unfortunately the Rocket Raccon wave eludes me as stores in my area are stocking heavily for Xmas except for Marvel figures. However my biggest issue is I'm trying to find Piledriver and Thunderball at a reasonable price. Its not so much bout completing Zola as it is I'm a huge Wrecking Crew fan. Any help would be appreciated from this fledgling Legends collector.

You can find lots of loose and MOC figs on the BST threads here, and if you're looking to score a lot at once and don't mind ebay, you can searchmarvel legends lot, always good for a browse. I've scored a few bundles of joy there myself.

Great group shots Olds', I really dig your Angel.

I went to my LCS last night to pick up a couple of things and found out Cap2 and Spidey waves will be in store late January, but my guy there said there is still no word on Jubilee or IM3 wave 3. Hasbro must be having QC issues or the same dilemma the had with the Wolverine wave - retail didn't want to carry them

Serious Lee 11-25-2013 12:35 PM

I'm surprised BBTS and Toywiz don't have the Cap2 wave up for preorder yet. Robotkingdom's case pack-out doesn't make sense (the figs included don't add up to the right amount of BAF pieces). Has anyone seen anything different? If that packout is correct, we'd need to build the Mandroid over 2 waves, which would be less than fun for the wallet

Yeah that really does suck if so especially with an army building character but remember they did the two wave BAF with IM3 so I wouldnt put it past them.

Got a question...can anyone here make a list of figures that have reused molds? Example...US Agent, Bucky Cap, Black Panther, Archangel and Cyclops. I know the buck used on Deadpool has been used a few times. I read that it was from the ML Bullseye and maybe it's true but that seems wrong for some reason. Even though that's all the info I need I'd also like to know what other figures have reused molds.

The SDCC Psylocke is also on the Elektra body. Well pretty much all the ones on the top of ChuckSass' list are on the same base body with different upper torsos, hands, and feet. Starting with the Jimlee Jean they introduced new lower legs with the new ankle rocker/pivots.

If anyone wants to pick up the newest posted Legends wave on Hasbrotoyshop, can get them at $10 a piece, free shipping, by using SAVE25. They're all still in stock. No variants of course.

Does that discount code work for someone in Canada, such as myself or US only? Also are you refering to the Cap/Spidey wave figures?

Iceman 12-02-2013 08:58 PM

it would be nice if they offered discounted shipping to Canada when they gave free shipping to the US. That would make sense and we both know Hasbro isn't about sense.

BAD MOON 12-04-2013 08:57 PM

Happy to report that the Marvel Legends Ronan Wave Silver Surfer is compatible with the new Marvel Select Silver Surfer base. Woot!

Gotta thank you for posting this. With the savings I essentially gained a free figure (I bought five and wound up with a $15 discount from the total) and I was able to grab a Jean Grey who is currently available for preorder. Also it seems the savings apply to all Marvel Legends figures, not just the recent wave.

That combo looks great BAD MOON.

Yeha the discount seems to apply to every Marvel toy period. The Jean Grey wave is what i was referring to yeah. :)
