Falcon and Cover Girl look awesome... always wanted a classic looking Cover Girl, but I missed out on both her ARAH version as kid and her 25th Club version as an adult... hopefully I can finally get this one. Kinda sad that I have more digital render jpgs of Classified Joes than I have actual Classified Joes though.

Dr Kain 06-08-2022 09:41 PM

I'm super excited for Covergirl. She was the only figure shown off today that I care about, but Outback was not bad. I might get him depending on the price when he were to actually come out.

Crimson BAT was crap.

I do not care for Sgt Slaughter as a character, but damn that new figure looks hot as hell. I might have to get it after all.

Sataninjaku 06-08-2022 10:06 PM

I'm pretty well in on all that was shown except Snake Eyes and BBQ. I agree though, Slaughter was the star of that particular reveal for me. Poor old Bobby Vala. He will be missed.

You really didn't like the Crimson BAT? Shit man, when it comes to Cobra, crimson ANYTHING is welcomed by me. Plus, as a guy that won't army build, any troops they re-deco are ways to circumvent my rule.

ScottyHawkeye 06-08-2022 11:50 PM

I'm the same way. Army builders are the only time where I will get a variant that is just the same figure but repainted, I'm not one for buying the same exact figure at all, even if it's an army builder. To me, my money is better spent on getting different figures and having a varied collection.

Precisely why I have that rule and the "one figure per character" rule. I collect ARAH GI Joe, Classified, Legends, vintage TMNT and Super Nintendo, so if I was to army build, I'd be out of room with a quickness. The "one per" rule doesn't apply to ARAH, though. I'm nearly done with a complete 82-94 run, so I'm a completionist there.

Am I the only one that follow the instruction given on the back of every card/box?!?

"COLLECT THEM ALL!"

Yes, like many, I have a large collection of Classified Joes...in pre-order.

Nope. I am right there with you. I believe I am up to something like 11 Cobra Troopers/Infantry at this point.

lol

I can't afford to collect them all, especially at the current price points. It's why I haven't bothered with the Red Ninjas, Python Patrol, or Tiger Force. Maybe if I wasn't also buying Power Rangers, Marvel Legends, NECA Horror movie, Kamen Rider, Ultraman, and Godzilla stuff, I could afford to buy every Joe figure. :D

Plus, I bought multiples of every Joe figure that came out during the late 2000s for the anniversary line and beyond until Hasbro killed it for that subscription service bs. I ended up regretting it in 2012 and sold off every single figure, many at a loss, just to get rid of them. At the time, I swore off ever buying Joes again. We see how well I stuck to that declaration. Though, I am limiting myself on army builders to just Cobra Troopers, regular BATs, Alley Vipers, Vipers, and Crimson Guards.

I will believe it when I see it. Hasbro has repeatedly been completely off, drastically over promised, OR has flat out lied about release schedules since the line began. More often than not I've given them the benefit of the doubt due to events beyond their control. No longer. There's way to much blatant clusterfuckery with this line.

You do know we are still feeling the effects from the pandemic, right? I wouldn't expect things like shipping schedules and the like to go back to normal for at least another few years. It sucks, but it is what it is.

I believe it's usually a month to two months depending on the retailer.

So I should be looking in July and August for them.

Yeah. I don't have that rule, I just collect the characters I care for and what designs I like. My rule is to avoid variants unless it's based on a design from the comics or film the line is based on or tied to. If there was a DC Multiverse Batman that was just a repainted version of the Rebirth Batman, I wouldn't buy it. So far the Batman figures have been different molds, I just get the ones that look good. I collect GI Joe Classified, Marvel Legends, Transformers, Spawn, Mortal Kombat, DC Direct, and DC Multiverse as well as the predecessor runs DC Universe and DC Superheroes.

I'm a diorama builder, so a big part of my reasoning behind that rule is "could I build one large diorama that the entire collection could be housed in together (breaking immersion of course for arctic/etc. figures)". If I have four Wolverines, Snake Eyes, or Spideys, it just doesn't work. I pretty much settle on whatever look I feel is definitive and keep it at that one. The AC Snake Eyes, for example, is that figure. They're really going to have to go above and beyond for me to ever buy another Classified SE. The same could be said for Storm Shadow, I got the wave out of Canada, and he's perfect, IMHO.

My Cobra Commander on the other hand is just a place holder. They can't revisit him soon enough. I may eat my words here, but I'm 90% sure whatever they do with him next will be a must-buy, and my Snake Supreme will be given away.

I see. I'm more of a collector who likes to have figures that represent different eras and iterations of characters. So something like modern era designs and classics to represent those iterations respectively. So I like to have a few variants of the characters, but not too many. When it comes to displaying them I have rotating displays. To be a display of the Classic Avengers one month then have a Modern Avengers the next month. That's just me personally.

That Storm Shadow still isn't available in the US yet, I'm just waiting for that figure to come out. Glad you got yours.

That works, as is often said, there is no right or wrong way to collect. I certainly have my own opinions as to what is the "better" figure and so on, but I'm not at your house, so you do you man.

As far as SS goes, I did have to pay a small markup for him, and I only did so because my outstanding PO list is getting to be unmanageable- I really felt the $5 markup per was worth it just to slim the list down. Don't worry, they'll be here at some point... or so I'm told... repeatedly... ;)

Dr Kain 06-09-2022 02:59 PM

Unless they do a Resolute version of Cobra Commander, I really don't see myself buying another version since the one they already did is almost perfect.

Do note, I don't count the Armored version as CC, rather Fred VII.

MeLikeJinx 06-09-2022 07:01 PM

To me Sgt. Slaughter is pretty much pointless without Serpentor. And I am stunned they didn't include a TTT with Sgt. Slaughter and charge like 100 bucks or something. And I wonder if they would release a Classified Serpentor without his air chariot.

Given Hasbro's track record of repaints and double dipping so early in this line, not to mention their hard-on for motorcycles, we'll probably see Serpentor released with a gold version of the Cobra C.O.I.L.

It's still possible as they made it sound like Slaughter was going to be in a special line with another character. Could be Serpentor.

So everyone thinking the Haslab's going to be a HISS?

No idea, but as inticing as that sounds, I'd have to pass on anything Haslab does for GI Joe. I'm having a $1000 rent increase in August, so money is going to be tight this Summer.

Sataninjaku 06-10-2022 11:54 AM

Same, though my issue is going to be space. I'm going to be finished up with toys altogether here pretty soon, I think.

Also, $1000 increase??!!? That's fucking awful!

Yeah. To each their own way of collecting. Just whatever makes the collector happy in the end.

It's the upcoming figure, I'm impatiently waiting for in the Classified line. If I don't find it in stores, I'll just order it.
