SDCC is like a toy holiday for me..even though I never have attended but I love getting the news from the web. MOTUC has been my favorite toy line to collect and follow these past years and SDCC is always an exciting time.

As soundwavempl said, at SDCC. The 2013 exclusive is King He-Man.

I think if you bide your time you can find one for a decent price. There's some on eBay that sold for really low and some that sold for really high. $60 seems like a good middle range, I think that's about what I paid for mine.

Veronica Mars 01-19-2013 10:12 AM

I have so many figures I want it won't be hard to put her off for awhile

DHeezy81 01-19-2013 10:26 AM

Oh yeah...

And yes, I made sure it came with the mailer. As "overboard" as that may be! lmao :BlaBla

Nice score bro. Still trying to get that figure. Hope you got a good deal on him.

DHeezy81 01-19-2013 11:08 AM

Uh... Well, lol. I got it for my offer of $20 less than the listing price. Was still too damn much for a single figure. But I must be complete.

I have had one since they released him, but wanted one to open but will not pay the crazy for one to open. I keep one of everyone in package, and buy an extra of the characters I like to open. Mostly the Horde and main villains and cool characters like Marzo and The Faceless One. I lucked out and got a second Shadow Weaver to open a week after she released at a local con for 45$ The guy had no idea she was going for over a 100$ on ebay at the time.

miketime 01-19-2013 02:57 PM

That's a great score Phantom. Shadow Weaver for $45 is unheard of. I think I paid 60 for Wondar and that was at a discounted price. He also came with the map. I got into MOTUC over a year into it. It's never to late to start.

I have been with Matty since the first SDCC King Greyskull and have gotten almost everything Mattycollector has offered each year (Ghostbusters, He-man, Voltron, DC, ect.) I would say a very good chunck of my collection is from Matty. Even with the ups and downs of Matty I still love the product for the most part and can not wait till the crown piece of He Man shows up...Castle Greyskull :-)

I had a question about buying day of release. Do they go on sale at midnight or sometime in the morning?

9am Pac / noon Eastern

Veronica Mars 01-19-2013 09:56 PM

well that's lovely...

Veronica Mars 01-19-2013 10:08 PM

Also I'm frustrated they won't reissue Teela, and the excuse is super lame.

"after reissuing 2 years+ worth of figures, the actual number of customers it is not high enough to go back into production on a figure outside of He-Man and maybe Skeletor."

but all those figures sold out, so clearly they were bought by someone. UGH!

ANd battleground Teela is not Teela she is a sad rejected extra from John Carter

Dr Kain 01-20-2013 08:58 AM

Just give up on talking to Scott as he doesn't care about your opinions. He is rude, unfunny, and only cares about the money the line brings in. He will lie to suit his desire. I mean, look at how quick he abandoned the DCU line the moment they got the remainder of his precious Super Powers characters out. He will do the same to MOTUC when it suits him.

A good headsculpt... but I agree - not right.

I hate the fact Matty say stuff like that. Let's face it; if they decide that the '2012 only' or the 'Never reissue Teela' mentality is going to lose them money, then they may well list them again 'because fans have been demanding it' to make some cash during low sales periods.

DHeezy81 01-20-2013 06:11 PM

They claimed no 2012 figs would be re-released, yet it's only Jan and they had Horde Prime & Griffen up. It's disgusting how many times Scott & co. can sit there and lie to their fan base. I do love this line. But the moment it ends I'll let out a big sigh of relief. As will my bank account...

Lionheart 01-20-2013 06:54 PM

Keep telling yourself it's an investment... it's an investment...

Ok, we know that's not true, but it feels better saying it!

I just hope Fisto and Shadow Weaver come out again... I can't see them issuing Jitsu without the silver fisted nemesis being available. Ok, I can, but I don't want to!

Dr Kain 01-20-2013 07:44 PM

Shadow Weaver was a club exclusive, so she will never be reissued.

Technically they were selling over stock of those figs not re-issued newly manufactured ones. But they (Matty) often do lie to us and my account will look better after the line is done.

How do the DCUC figures line up scale wise to MOTUC?

Pretty much the same scale. DCUC Vs. MOTUC 2-packs are available at Toys R Us (at $30 a pop, at least in my area). The ones I see currently are Green Lantern (Hal)/Zodac, Hawkman/Stratos and Aquaman/Merman.

There was also Superman/He-Man and Lex Luthor/Skeletor, but since they were wave one I don't think you'll be able to find them at retail anymore.

EDIT: Oi. Completely forgot about the Supergirl/She-Ra set. My bad.

I was thinking for custom purposes. Does that She-Ra with super girl have a silver sword? And why super girl and not WW?

I don't think they match up at all. MOTUC figs are much larger than DCU figs. Larger DCU figs like Hawkman and Doomsday are close but normal male bodies and female DCU figs are shorter and skinnier than MOTUC. It's almost like how DC Direct figs are taller than DCU figs yet look very close. It's like the DC figs are teenagers to MOTUC.

trebleshot 01-23-2013 07:06 AM

Well, considering they're supposed to be from another universe, I don't really have a problem with the scale. And since all of the MOTUC figures are consistently bigger than DCUC, that actually helps sell them as aliens/alternate universe characters.

Now if they were supposed to be DC Universe characters (or even Earth-based), then I'd have a problem. But even still, different planets and all that.
