Ninja turtles uses the mode now. Go into a store you can find every character

I do agree with this. MU/MI has gotten better with the villain offerings but it was so annoying in particulary the Iron Man lines, to see 40,000 (exaggeration) different Iron Man figures and what maybe 2-3 villains? The Captain America lines were little better.

Still, all lines could be better served by giving us more villains and that does include MI even though it's done better recently - we did just get Vulture and Doc Ock in one wave.

While I would have never said this a year ago, I think Marvel/Hasbro could actually sell a bunch of figures if they did toon based figures and offered several characters not unlike the offerings of TMNT, but just added knees and elbows to the current 5 POA model. A 9 POA figure would give the kids more playability and probably get more adult fans. Just thoughts. Of course I'd love 4 inch figures with 21 POA, but that's not happening right now.

Yup that's my thing...the price of the MI and the fact that we lost great card art...I'm so glad to get these at HTS still for a reasonable price plus they're discounts make it even more easy to stay in the line.

I wish they did the movie 3.75" figures in the same MU/MI lines all along like Legends is doing. just do a couple waves of movie theme characters when the movie is out, and fill the rest of the year with comic theme figures. Also I think they're missing a lot of potential in the 3.75" world by not doing the one thing this scale was designed for, Playsets and Vehicles! they could do a scale Blackbird, fantasticar, spider buggy, punisher van, Hydra tanks, ect from existing GI Joe frames. hell they could re-release the terror dome with a few new accessories as a Hydra lab! I want a damn 5' tall Stark Tower! Hasbro needs to really bring someone on that gives a damn about the scale. It's painfully obvious that peoples personal feelings, and corporate decision making (chokeing out the Xmen and fF)and PC bull shit pandering are now the driving forces behind the "new Marvel" not story, or art. and I think we're seeing a lot of this trickle down to the toys. I just keep holding on, you know eventually they'll get some guy in there that loves the characters and the products and actually cares about what they do (like Vonner) and who is a fan. in short I'd bet anyone on this forum could make a better, and better selling toy line than the guys running the show at Hasbro, simply because we know what we want, they don't give a damn.

Agree 110%. The comics, to me, got in the shape they're in because of this, I feel. and it's no longer interested me. And the toylines are next, as I don't really collect other merchandise.

I think they missed a huge opportunity to make this a collector (subscription?) focused line and offering a much smaller number of figures but figure that are more wanted. I don't want/need more Iron Man figures, or more Hulk figures, or anything that's just a slight redo. of figures we already have. And the thing is even without the F4 and X-Men they still have a wealth of characters to choose from, they're just not the focus characters.

I dunno. I know some people are saying don't start calling the end of this line quite but I'm sticking with what I'm feeling in my gut, it's going to be really interesting to see what's coming with SDCC this year. We know we still have a confirmed wave to go (emma wave) and the highly rumored wave 4 (Skurge ---hey Samsson, Holla!) wave, along with Captain Marvel and Gamora, but if that's all they hint towards, that's probably because that's all there's gonna be.

And honestly, given their focus I'm not even sure that's necessarily a bad thing anymore. I'm still buying but it seems like so many of the characters getting made are the ones I don't give a crap about (of course that's just my opinion, every character is someone's favorite).

They tried that a little bit.
The Avengers Assemble Shield Tech line for example. And they've filtered some toon nods into Marvel Infinite occasionally like Hyperion. They should capitalize on it a bit more though with stuff like White Tiger and Agent Venom. Possibly even a wrecking crew re-release scattered across MI for those that didn't get them with the secret wars comic packs. They could re-release Iron Spider too. The dedicated toon lines don't seem to last for some reason with retailers. At least the kind of villain figures we want. I would have thought the shield tech line would have kept going. The widow figure was badass, Falcon was loads better than his MU release, and I'm still trying to get my hands on the Hawkeye & Nick Fury from that line.

Repacks could solve a lot of that, and now that characters are more known from their toon appearances, they could still make their way into MI releases. A Batroc release because of his multiple toon appearances might be funny, but some obscure villains even with toon backing still tend to shelf-warm. Hyperion is one of the easiest figures to find in my local stores still. Though Hydra figures during Cap 1's release sold extremely well. Might have helped they were a troop builder. Wrecker himself back during MU didn't seem to sell that well though and shelf-warmed for a little bit before moving.

So it's kind of a trade off. Even villains need to be more headlining to move at faster paces. Leader for example might sell really well if he had made it to major retailer shelves because of his over arcing presence in Hulk agents of SMASH. Maestro is possible from his appearance over there. Doom would have been a good choice since he's a strong comic presence, iconic, and had some toon appearances.

It's a balancing act. Definitely on the hero figures though like White Tiger, Agent Venom, and Ka-zar now that Shanna is available. The Udon Taskmaster that was also featured in ultimate spider-man would sell like hot cakes too.

Another issue to toon lines though, in some cases the designs don't match up. Take the new Falcon in Season 2 for example with the Gatchaman cues. Granted all he really needs is a new head from his previous Shield Tech release, but it doesn't match anything at all in the comics as yet(or foreseeable future unless someone else takes up the Falcon mantle while Sam Wilson is Captain America). If it gets more figures out there though and especially of characters that wouldn't see release otherwise, it'd be awesome.

Another problem has been retailer attention. They seem to like the more diverse and eye catching disparity between figures and the 5 poa cheaper figure orders to fill shelves. Maybe if they dedicated a line for solely toon marvel to pair up with MI, they could filter out more figures that way. Like SHIELD TECH, they could do it as mostly repacks with some minor retools where possible. Like Red Hulk with new hands so he could hold his toon guns. Or She-Hulk with new glove gear like she uses on her show. Agent Venom, White Tiger, Sam Alexander Nova might be an issue because his toon colors and comic colors are different, but that makes for an easy repaint for MI later. Power man could be done this way too. He's a young Luke Cage in ultimate spider-man but that exact costume, and hair cut style is the current Power Man in the comics. Amadeus Cho is the same across both minus the mace.

We might start seeing that later. Some of the ANAD Marvel stuff is the same as the cinematic stuff. The new Star Lord for example as well as Ant-man. Their ANAD attires are the same as their MCU ones. I do agree we need some kind of dedicated MCU line though overall. It'd be nice to have another shot at getting some figures from before like the Warriors 3, Heimdal, Sif, Odin, and Destroyer. I'm not sure what the actor likeness costs are though to doing something like that. Some cases like Destroyer though are the same as their comic counterparts and it is a bit surprising they haven't been repacked for MI. Crossbones you'd think would be near time for a repack too with his upcoming appearance in Cap 3.

Personally. I'm really hoping for some ANAD Marvel figures to be coming up. I'd love to get a female Thor figure, Sam Wilson Cap, among many others. It's the classic marvel stuff I tend to skip because I'm trying to keep my figure collection closer to their modern representations. And I still want a Songbird figure gosh darn it! (Which if they were feeling nice to classic figure consumers, they could do a variant of as Screaming Mimi.)

Poor Melter. All these MOE requests and so few for him. It almost makes me want to add him to my long list. Almost.

ArsGratiaArtis 06-10-2015 12:58 PM

To finish the Masters of Evil we need Blackout, Black Mamba, Fixer, Goliath, Grey Gargoyle, Mr. Hyde, Moonstone, Screaming Mimi, Titania, and Yellowjacket. Only MoE lineup that ever did anything memorable and the one they started before quitting on.

ukmu 06-10-2015 01:03 PM

Greetings Marvel fans!!! Been away and am back a! Just saw Executioner and still love him! I have yet to read backwards to catch up and am, as of writing this, still unaware of the SDCC set this year. Perhaps we all are.....

Captain Nash 06-10-2015 01:06 PM

I'd be happy personally with just the Thunderbolts Atlas, Songbird, Moonstone, Mach IV, Fixer, Citizen V. It's funny how I don't refer to Moonstone or Fixer by their "thunderbolts" names but the rest I do. And also Titania, Blizzard and Crimson Cowl from other versions for sure. But if we're going to get the Thunderbolts I also want Graviton for sure, he's very high up on my list, he's just not to my known was ever a MOE.

But I would buy a Melter, Grey Gargoyle, Black Mamba, Egghead....they're just not on even my long list.

You had me at HYDRA TANK!!! a five foot Stark Tower would please me no end much to the dismay of Mama UKMU. When you wrote " a HYDRA Terrordrome" a single tear rolled down my cheek... You sir are a poet laureate.

Captain Nash 06-10-2015 01:53 PM

Samsson if you're going to make Paste Pot Pete you darn well better be making Stilt Man. :D

On another thought: The gang that the Hood set up, was that ever given a name? Were they the MOE for that time? I do want a Hood figure and I'd probably buy a Dr. Demonicus, though I don't know why.....

Yes they tried it the issue was they stopped, before giving us another wave. Most people liked Thor , Hawkeye, Widow and Fury...also The Red Skull from that set

kylactus 06-10-2015 03:56 PM

Honestly I don't think there was a bad figure in the AA line. my only complaint was a lack of villains. plus if they want to stay relevant with the show there are a number of costume variants they could do with simple repaints. hell they gave us WW2 field marshal Red Skull, they slap that head on a repainted IM body you got Iron skull.

Titania would be amazing to have, and they do have the She-hulk buck to use for it. Hopefully we might start seeing some of those later. With Citizen V being in ANAD, he should have a larger prominence on the character awareness, and it'd be the perfect opportunity to visit his teammates both old and new including Songbird and Atlas!

They gave us 3 waves, and only 2 made it to mass retail before major retail stores stopped ordering them and clearanced them out. That's not on Hasbro, that's on retail outlets that get easily distracted.
The Leader, Hawkeye, Nick Fury wave was mostly at Marshalls and Ross stores which typically happens because other retailers passed it up and Hasbro still has a surplus of them to unload. That's how those stores sell them for cheap, they offer to take surplus stuff off manufacturer hands at a discount.

Man ape looks fantastic.
@ Samson that skurge is needed, I really hope we get Emma too. I would also like mac gargon scorpion and kingpin. I'm starting to see the legends anti venom peg warm but the 3.75" version is a fortune.
Did anyone see that Shane from the walking dead (John Benthal) will be playing punisher? Can't wait to see that.
As far as the comics go, I'm really liking the new secret wars, kind of like marvel had a baby with GOT and future imperfect is awesome too. Love me some maestro.

I saw this at TRU today, I passed but I thought it was worth sharing since I seem to recall there being some delay with this pack or something and someone on the ark was wondering about it however long ago. They only had the one of this pack, two of the Cap'n/Widow pack, and then of course like ten of the Tony/Fury packs.
