I knew when the rebrand came it was going to be a down hill slope, now we got folks begging for 9 POA figures!?! is this the 90's? NO you cant give people awesome, reel it back to crap and still expect us to keep buying it! I just bought another Beast to open, and all I can say is bitter disappointment! the lack of torso articulation, the stubby arms, the one possession head, and no wrists! on one of the most agile characters in the Marvel Universe. It's a shame he wasn't made three years ago. But It's all good, the shelves and pegs of every store I went to today was literally choked with the 20+ $ ML figures (all the way back to the Cap2 and Ultimate Goblin waves) and I'm not talking peg warmers every figure in every wave of the last two years. so for anyone who speculates that Hasbro makes more per unit on ML and that's why there focus is on the 6", remember if it don't sell they make nothing, the only MI figures I saw today were two beasts, a few Caps, a couple Hyperions and Iron mans, and one Wonder Man. That's literally like 12 figures in all, at seven store. I quit counting Legends after one Target, and one Walmart, but 20-25 per store sounds about right. I know it's not nice to wish ill on people, but I hope the head douche in charge of MI at Hasbro gets shit canned with extreme prejudice, and ends up on Brazil re-tooling old Secret Wars figures for the latten market.

I hear you man. I've asked for 9 POA because frankly I don't know what to expect. By the way Hasbro is doing their GI Joe exclusive as a SDCC/TRU shared set, but was announced several weeks ago and the figures are already showing up on eBay from China - though I guess so is labcoat Pym - whatever he is.

kylactus 06-12-2015 06:16 PM

lab coat sleeve Pym is perplexing, maybe he's just something to tie the main line to a relevant movie. (kind of how we've gotten like six iron man armors, three or four Thors and at least four caps because of the Avengers films) I just think it's weird that the seller on ebay doesn't have any other pre-production or unreleased figures. If it were an exclusive set you'd think there would be other figures. I'm half considering getting the poofy sleeve Pym just in case he's a scratched variant or a limited test shot that will never be widely produced.

Ninjinister 06-12-2015 07:19 PM

Looks like there's' a paint difference with AoU Hawkeye. Is there or am I just seeing things?

samsson37 06-12-2015 07:22 PM

Hey guys, I can't believe I'm saying this, but just by some strange chance I do the Melter any ideas on a head

Bulkdozer from Wrecking Crew maybe?

kylactus 06-12-2015 07:39 PM

if your going for the EMH look I'd probably go with Hawkeye.

I could see that if we had already seen the figure solicited. The Chameleon wave is not even on pre-order. If Lab Pym is in the next wave after Chameleon wave it will hit after Ant Man has had its cinematic run. I wonder if it's a combo of your points? It was meant to tie the main line to the Ant Man movie like the re- release of the GotG figures, but it's been scrapped and isn't happening due to the figure not being solicited yet and missing any window of relevancy. Again who the heck knows.

Might be something for the DVD release of the film too.
Key marketing points are usually around the buildup trailer initial premieres, the movie release, and the DVD release. With the movie so close, the only other possibilities are DVD release or NYCC. It's also more EMH inspired than film influenced though, so who knows. Maybe it's the next Marvel Digital subscription exclusive.

Or we could be missing the obvious and it's a mish mash of parts from other figures via knock offs and will have no official release.

Or maybe he was scrapped in favor of an ANAD Ant-man release later that'll single card the MCU figure. Those are the same designs.

If you don't mind painting, the GI Joe Lifeline head is a great sculpt.

9 POA figures are much more preferable than these awful AOU figures. I agree with you though about the Legends peg warming (here in the Northwest I can find them with a thick layer of dust anywhere). As for the brand manager... all he had to do was ride Vonner's coat tails and repaint the old bucks but he botched it pretty bad. He's like one of those clowns that tries to reinvent the wheel at an office/workplace but just makes everything worse. I've seen it happen a ton of times.

I think insulting Hasbro when con season is right around the corner may not be best thing to do. Especially when we don't have the sales data or know what they have planned coming up later.

Though I concur on Legends seeming to shelf-warm. Many stores here still have Winter Soldier legends figures on shelves. Legends I think would fair a lot better if they aligned it to work with the 3.75 some with the size shifters or larger characters, but we'll see how that works out when Ant-Man's waves start hitting.

It kind of looks like Hasbro was trying to appease fans though when you look at what's been offered so far. Legends fans were very vocal and so Hasbro brought Legends back. Fans were very vocal about wanting the sinister 6 and Lucas Bishop, Hasbro gave us all new molds of them.

With as many figures as they can still repack and haven't released, they still have an announced wave to go, and at least two waves of highly sought after repacks they could do.

Carnage has yet to be re-released, Scorpion, and many more.

And I really hope they do release the ANAD Iron Man. His ability to turn into any previous armor he's had could really bolster the aftermarket of those Iron man armors and even allow repacks of a few of the classic ones like silver centurion. Personally, I'm entirely fine with Iron Man figures so long as they are different armors. Many of us all have preferred versions of the armor. Personally I'm really excited that the ANAD comic is taking a cue from the Iron Man 90s cartoon season 2 armor's ability to switch armors on the fly. Kinda surprised they hadn't done something like that sooner. It was one of the cool things that toon introduced and is making me excited for Iron Man again.

The rule for Iron Man, Cap, and Spider-man figures should be that if retailers want them as named characters, they could at least cover the diverse history of their various appearances. So far, much of that's been covered. We're down to only Superior Spider-man, Ben Reilly spider-man and spider-carnage on spider-man's side now. They even did bag head already. On cap's side we're really only missing his armored suit from when his powers were fading in the 90s. For Ironman all that's left is his 90s modular suit that was predominately used in his 90s toon besides the GOTG suit and newest.

With everything we've gotten so far, and the next slate of movies announced, give Hasbro some breathing room. We've got 5 years of movies coming up and a ton of possibilities for them to do now that demand is starting to kick back up. Not to mention we don't know how much they did bank on the lower articulation figures that still sold pretty well. Apparently well enough that they've got a 3rd wave with Vision and Falcon coming. Civil War itself is going to have a ton of side characters too and the newest cinematic costumes. Some of which sounds like can be done as a simple retool of previous molds. Like the minor changes on Hawkeye's suit, and even a re-release of MCU Ant-man on a single card.

We are getting Ant-man too for his movie, and his movie didn't really warrant a full on line. MCU-wise, it looks like Yellow Jacket and Ant-man were the only two costumed identities, and I don't think doing comic versions of his villains would have really sold. I don't think egghead is a figure that really anyone wants and Ant-man's MI figure already shelf warms pretty bad.

It's ironic, Hell's Kitchen is actually a really nice area to live now, and people like James Gunn, Frank Miller, Tom Hanks, & Robert De Niro live there.

Which was one of the genius moves of the Daredevil Netflix series while the connections to the Marvel Cinematic Universe were minimal, the reason Hells Kitchen needed rebuilding was because of the Battle of New York from the Avengers movie.

Has anyone managed to remove the MI Ant Man helmet from the head as a whole piece?

It's sculpted in, so that'd be some hefty surgical precise snipping.
The eye mask part and chin part are glued on. The rest of the helmet and head are one piece.
