EDIT, What are the chances of them making a Siryn Figure , was going to make a custom but not sure

I am also working on one. It would shock the hell out of me if they did ever make her. If ToyBiz didn't make a 5" fig in the heyday the chances of an ML version are probably worse.

...it's an emoji night...apparently.

The Checchetto style also happens to have my hands down favorite version of the Punisher emblem so it is just an overall win for me. I could go for the JRJR version as long as the figure was not as blocky as he looks in the art I Googled. Scruffy with a broken nose is all good.

Edit:
@Kirathis
Yeah, I don't think Hasbro could capture JRJR's style for Punisher without making a figure that looked completely out of place with other Legends. Honestly, I wouldn't want that. I just want a bashed up face with bleeding lacerations. Basically...something we'd never get. Ha!

Not sure I want cartoon versions of characters taking up spots within Legends waves. I have learned to deal (begrudgingly) with the attention lavished on MCU figs, even growing to like a couple. That said, I would still prefer that cannon figs fill as many slots as possible.

Eh, as long as they're using it to pad out a line and not straight-up replace certain characters, I can't say I mind. Sure, it's the first 'real' Red Skull figure since the Winter Soldier/Mandroid wave, but that one is still considered serviceable enough that 'Iron Skull' isn't necessarily a 'replacement.'

I will say that the USM-inspired Taskmaster design is a little iffy, but the inclusion of the Udon-styled head made it easier to swallow, given there's enough similarity between the two designs.

I'll tell you, though, I'd kill to get an Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes-styled Wasp.

I agree, but I gotta say that armor does look cool. Ugh. That would mean four figures out of the wave. Maybe I should just bite the bullet on that wave too. Damn you Hasbro for making so much awesome stuff this year.

Alright, done preordered sight unseen. At least hopefully if I get this wave I won't have the trouble of trying to find a MCU Scarlet Witch.

Dr Kain 06-03-2016 07:46 AM

Hobgoblin and Electro are a must buy, although, I don't like Electro having blue electricity hands. He emits yellow electricity in the comics, not blue. It also doesn't seem like they gave him standard hands, which blows.

The two Spidey's I'll probably pick up if I see them in stores with good paint jobs. Not sure how the young Peter will compare to the Pizza one though.

Don't care about Silk or having another Spider-Girl.

Unfortunately for me, I missed out on the Winter Soldier Red Skull so I'll most likely end up picking up Iron Skull. What I really want is a Red Skull in a Nazi-esque uniform. That's what I'm waiting for.

TheBlueMarvel 06-03-2016 08:14 AM

@Blunder
Damn. You would mention a cartoon version (Wasp) that I consider to be somewhat slick...

@Nash
The Skull armor does look decent...with the exception of that silly glowing skull on his chest.

My concern is that we could end up with an explosion of figs that feature 'toymaker' inspired designs. Similar to the bad-old days where you might see a Marvel hero in some costume created by Toy Biz (this has actually happened more recently with that X-men Legends line: Cyber-Cyclops, Angel, Beast, etc). "Hey, it's Halloween! Let's do a Beast-formers wave with Iron Man, Cap, Hulk, and Thor! It'll be GREAT!!" Could be a slippery slope to gimmick land. After all, the Legends line isn't considered to be a 'collectors' line...It's a 'play-line' aimed largely at children who could not care any less (for the most part; barring those few kids in the know). One change in Hasbro's upper-management could dramatically shift internal opinions on the matter. Considering the success they've enjoyed with the line, this scenario is doubtful. However, it becomes more probable the further you get from canon.

well there are fair amount of figures i didnt think we would get
i.e Captain Britain, Kitty /Shadow cat
and a new x-men wave rumored to be with Polaris also they are doing shatter star ... we already getting Havok seems they are doing an X-Factor Characters either way Siryn was with both X-factor and X-force so either route we could see either, maybe next year... I shall wait till the end of both SDCC & NYCC might be better news for next year before doing customs shall get the pieces etc i want

If you can get rid of the flames on the recent Ghost Rider figure's neck area, slap the head on there and boom.

Nnnnno, I'm pretty sure that all the other Marvel lines are 'play-lines,' since they're the ones that have gimmicks. The Legends line is what it's always been, a collector-oriented (though, of course, marketed to a larger audience) toyline. At least, as far as Hasbro's handling of the line.

Otherwise, things like 'Hit Monkey' wouldn't have happened, for better or for worse.

i actually DO have a second job but it's REALLY flexible. So I actually DO go out and work and make more loot when I know there is stuff coming out i want. Like now I really need to get some hours in THIS month because I pre-ordered those 3 waves.

Haha well space is the other issue as well but eh. I usually get rid of stuff that I can let go...sometimes though I have had to buy them back again :P

Most of the character designs fit closely with 616 Marvel designs. At their worst, the designs are usually just a mix of comic and MCU. Since they are looking at the cartoons for inspiration, maybe they'll look at a few of the Thunderbolts episodes.

If you want to kit-bash your own, you could always use the Star Wars Black Series: General Hux figure as a base. He's definitely got that Nazi-esque thing going on.

TheBlueMarvel 06-03-2016 09:02 AM

@Blunder

You may feel that way, but I disagree. If it were not a 'play' line at heart the paint apps would be better, there would be more accessories, they'd occupy space in the collector's section at TRU, there would be less concern about risque or adult themed characters, and the price points would be higher. Not to mention the distinction that's always been made between Legends figs and their Select cousins. I want them to be considered in the same light you do, but the reality of the matter says otherwise. Hit-monkey himself could be viewed as a gimmick, given the weakness of the fig as a BAF...many collectors (outside of Deadpool fans) complained about the inclusion of the fig. as a build a figure.

Edit:
@Red

Why settle for an 'approximation' when one could simply use the source material? Children that enjoy the cartoon aren't going to miss aesthetic changes that were created largely for the ease they present when animating. I view it much like the unnecessary costume changes in Hollywood's super flicks...no real need to 're-envision' what's worked for years. Just my opinion...

Edit2:
@Blunder
I just realized something that might be getting lost in the sauce. When I say 'collector's line' what I should probably be saying is 'collector's grade.' 'Collectors' support all sorts of things, but not everything is conventionally thought of as 'collector's grade.' I hope that clears up my comments a bit...

Now there's a set I want right now. Hasbro please!!!!!! Thunderbolts is hot again from what I understand! But (and I haven't read them) I'm seeing on the solits it's Bucky leading them instead of Citizen V - and yet Citizen V was in their photos for ANAD Marvel - is he/she anywhere at this point at all? Either way, yes yes yes to classic Thunderbolts figures.

Old man Logan wasn't a book for kids. But how awesome is it that there are some multi-cultural Spider-Women, or just spider characters for that matter.

Ashley, Silk, Anya, Jess, etc. It's really cool

It can be done, but it's not an easy kitbash as the peg for Hux is way too small for any of the current Red Skull heads out there. The ToyBiz ones might work, but no matter what, you're gonna have to do some modififying.

Pictures are just starting to drop of the new Spidey wave in package. Really excited to see Silk comes with an unmasked portrait, although I'm a little perplexed she sits on an adult body. She's rather tiny in the comic.

That said, I'll probably have to get two of her now, since the unmasked portrait looks like it can be used to make a good Psylocke custom, as I've never particularly cared for any of the previous Psylocke casts..

My only stipulation, we gotta get Songbird with effects! The Thunderbolts are definitely getting a lot of love lately. I picked up the ANAD Thunderbolts #1, but haven't gotten around to reading it yet.

Didn't know about the different sizes pegs. Despite that flaw, that body is perfect for the Skull.

Just saw the Silk pic, and she looks AMAZING!! She's just jumped up my list from "Probably get" to "MUST HAVE". That head would also make a great X-23!

UpDog 06-03-2016 11:24 AM

Wouldn't be terribly worried about the seeping in of the Cartoon Universe (even if true, there are worse things, the designs aren't terrible and they're probably the only reason we're getting characters like whirlwind and taskmaster). I think they just went with Iron skull cause it's an easy "Put an existing head on an existing iron man body, repaint and call it a day"

It's still a collector-oriented line, even if it's not 'Collector's Grade.' They're just aimed at the mass market - hence the limitations on paint apps and accessories due to budgetary restraints, and subsequently the lower price. Are they still marketed as a children's toy? Sure, but that's just Hasbro maximizing their possible buying audience. They likely wouldn't even make the Marvel Legends line if they weren't aware of the large base of adult buyers that buy the majority of the figures.

If the line were primarily a 'play' line, I highly doubt we'd be seeing Misty Knight, or Thundra, or Machine Man and the Sentry. At least, not without them being highly visible characters in some media or another. Nor would we get things like Taskmaster's 'Udon' head, or the 'Dirk Anger' head on the new Nick Fury figure, or probably any of the Walgreens exclusives.

Does Hasbro want kids to buy it? Sure; they want the profits, regardless of who gets the figure. But it's still primarily a collector's line - just one that fits within the budget to be mass released through big-box retailers, rather than the more limited releases of items like Marvel Select, or Transformers Masterpiece.

Otherwise, why would we be getting an X-Men wave with the right head to finish our Onslaught BAFs? It's not like most of those characters are in the forefront of children's minds these days.
