Edit:
@Kirathis Yeah, I don't think Hasbro could capture JRJR's style for Punisher without making a figure that looked completely out of place with other Legends. Honestly, I wouldn't want that. I just want a bashed up face with bleeding lacerations. Basically...something we'd never get. Ha! Quote:

I will say that the USM-inspired Taskmaster design is a little iffy, but the inclusion of the Udon-styled head made it easier to swallow, given there's enough similarity between the two designs. I'll tell you, though, I'd kill to get an Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes-styled Wasp. |

Alright, done preordered sight unseen. At least hopefully if I get this wave I won't have the trouble of trying to find a MCU Scarlet Witch. |
Hobgoblin and Electro are a must buy, although, I don't like Electro having blue electricity hands. He emits yellow electricity in the comics, not blue. It also doesn't seem like they gave him standard hands, which blows.
The two Spidey's I'll probably pick up if I see them in stores with good paint jobs. Not sure how the young Peter will compare to the Pizza one though. Don't care about Silk or having another Spider-Girl. |

@Blunder
Damn. You would mention a cartoon version (Wasp) that I consider to be somewhat slick... @Nash The Skull armor does look decent...with the exception of that silly glowing skull on his chest. My concern is that we could end up with an explosion of figs that feature 'toymaker' inspired designs. Similar to the bad-old days where you might see a Marvel hero in some costume created by Toy Biz (this has actually happened more recently with that X-men Legends line: Cyber-Cyclops, Angel, Beast, etc). "Hey, it's Halloween! Let's do a Beast-formers wave with Iron Man, Cap, Hulk, and Thor! It'll be GREAT!!" Could be a slippery slope to gimmick land. After all, the Legends line isn't considered to be a 'collectors' line...It's a 'play-line' aimed largely at children who could not care any less (for the most part; barring those few kids in the know). One change in Hasbro's upper-management could dramatically shift internal opinions on the matter. Considering the success they've enjoyed with the line, this scenario is doubtful. However, it becomes more probable the further you get from canon. |

Otherwise, things like 'Hit Monkey' wouldn't have happened, for better or for worse. |

@Blunder
You may feel that way, but I disagree. If it were not a 'play' line at heart the paint apps would be better, there would be more accessories, they'd occupy space in the collector's section at TRU, there would be less concern about risque or adult themed characters, and the price points would be higher. Not to mention the distinction that's always been made between Legends figs and their Select cousins. I want them to be considered in the same light you do, but the reality of the matter says otherwise. Hit-monkey himself could be viewed as a gimmick, given the weakness of the fig as a BAF...many collectors (outside of Deadpool fans) complained about the inclusion of the fig. as a build a figure. Edit: @Red Why settle for an 'approximation' when one could simply use the source material? Children that enjoy the cartoon aren't going to miss aesthetic changes that were created largely for the ease they present when animating. I view it much like the unnecessary costume changes in Hollywood's super flicks...no real need to 're-envision' what's worked for years. Just my opinion... Edit2: @Blunder I just realized something that might be getting lost in the sauce. When I say 'collector's line' what I should probably be saying is 'collector's grade.' 'Collectors' support all sorts of things, but not everything is conventionally thought of as 'collector's grade.' I hope that clears up my comments a bit... |

Pictures are just starting to drop of the new Spidey wave in package. Really excited to see Silk comes with an unmasked portrait, although I'm a little perplexed she sits on an adult body. She's rather tiny in the comic. That said, I'll probably have to get two of her now, since the unmasked portrait looks like it can be used to make a good Psylocke custom, as I've never particularly cared for any of the previous Psylocke casts.. |

Just saw the Silk pic, and she looks AMAZING!! She's just jumped up my list from "Probably get" to "MUST HAVE". That head would also make a great X-23! |
Wouldn't be terribly worried about the seeping in of the Cartoon Universe (even if true, there are worse things, the designs aren't terrible and they're probably the only reason we're getting characters like whirlwind and taskmaster). I think they just went with Iron skull cause it's an easy "Put an existing head on an existing iron man body, repaint and call it a day"

If the line were primarily a 'play' line, I highly doubt we'd be seeing Misty Knight, or Thundra, or Machine Man and the Sentry. At least, not without them being highly visible characters in some media or another. Nor would we get things like Taskmaster's 'Udon' head, or the 'Dirk Anger' head on the new Nick Fury figure, or probably any of the Walgreens exclusives. Does Hasbro want kids to buy it? Sure; they want the profits, regardless of who gets the figure. But it's still primarily a collector's line - just one that fits within the budget to be mass released through big-box retailers, rather than the more limited releases of items like Marvel Select, or Transformers Masterpiece. Otherwise, why would we be getting an X-Men wave with the right head to finish our Onslaught BAFs? It's not like most of those characters are in the forefront of children's minds these days. |
