damn dude..that's a good idea. I'm working on my first group pic project (which will take some time to get all parts in place) and that would be a great fourth addition to my group. What head would work good for that do ya think??

That moment when Zemo remembers that Mace Jackson doesn't like Individuals that HATE used leg salesmen.

It's still a collector-oriented line, even if it's not 'Collector's Grade.' They're just aimed at the mass market - hence the limitations on paint apps and accessories due to budgetary restraints, and subsequently the lower price. Are they still marketed as a children's toy? Sure, but that's just Hasbro maximizing their possible buying audience. They likely wouldn't even make the Marvel Legends line if they weren't aware of the large base of adult buyers that buy the majority of the figures.

If the line were primarily a 'play' line, I highly doubt we'd be seeing Misty Knight, or Thundra, or Machine Man and the Sentry. At least, not without them being highly visible characters in some media or another. Nor would we get things like Taskmaster's 'Udon' head, or the 'Dirk Anger' head on the new Nick Fury figure, or probably any of the Walgreens exclusives.

Does Hasbro want kids to buy it? Sure; they want the profits, regardless of who gets the figure. But it's still primarily a collector's line - just one that fits within the budget to be mass released through big-box retailers, rather than the more limited releases of items like Marvel Select, or Transformers Masterpiece.

Otherwise, why would we be getting an X-Men wave with the right head to finish our Onslaught BAFs? It's not like most of those characters are in the forefront of children's minds these days.

I hear you. That was essentially why I clarified my use of 'collector's grade' (the implication being that it was made with the intent of being valuable) vs 'collector's line' (representing the creation of a product for fans of a genre). In truth, the two designations aren't mutually exclusive. After rereading our discussion, I realized that the grade/value of something may have no bearing on whether or not a collector 'collects' said thing. I know some people that collect refrigerator magnets (go figure) and shot glasses (that...I can get behind) from wherever they travel to on vacation or business. Obviously, there's little value to these items outside of their personal interests, but they collect them nonetheless.

I still view Marvel Legends as a 'play line' for all the reasons I've mentioned. I'll even add articulation to that list. I just can't see any company taking on additional costs in manufacturing to create multiple POAs for a toy that was going remain in its packaging or sit static on a shelf. It doesn't represent a winning business proposition. Sometimes, I think we adult action fig. collectors overestimate our participation in sales figures (and our numbers in the wild). We often think that children are the ancillary factors in the equation, but it wouldn't surprise me if we were the gravy and they were the meat. I'd be interested in seeing the raw data on sales to adults vs sales to adults - buying for children/children buying for themselves. It'd be hard to parse that info out without introducing a potentially intrusive survey at the point of sale, but I would be very excited to find out who constituted more of the 'business.'

I like this pic. I was going to buy those Can of Beams blood splatters...and a bunch of other things...but I just can't stop buying figs. $40 for a pack of those things, or another fig or two? The accessories always lose...one day I'll nab some.

Just saw the Silk pic, and she looks AMAZING!! She's just jumped up my list from "Probably get" to "MUST HAVE". That head would also make a great X-23!

I had originally bought the General Hux figure for the same purpose of doing a head swap for Red Skull, but was disappointed when I noticed the difference in the neck peg from traditional Marvel Legends and Black Series figures. I opted to just keep the Hux figure as is simply because I did not want to put in the additional work of buying Sculpey and building up the peg. It's a shame because that figure has superior articulation in comparison to the original Red Skull figure that we got.

The extra heads being offered in the wave are a huge bonus to what I was expecting. I'm especially excited for the new Electro head sculpt, as it means that I don't need to replace my ToyBiz Electro currently on the shelf. Same goes for the new Hobgoblin head sculpt, allowing me to keep both versions of the character (the Spider-Man Classics Leeds and now Hasbro Macendale) side by side. The new sculpts for the Ultimate Spider-Man figures look nice as well. Hasbro is stepping up big time.

SymbiSpidey 06-03-2016 06:07 PM

Yeah Hasbro seems to be taking the line very seriously this year. The figures are looking great, very few duds.

And honestly I wouldn't mind using General Hux for a Red Skull if General Hux wasn't so damn expensive. Seriously haven't found him anywhere

does ANYONE have any kind of explanation as to why it is so damn impossible to find the Civil War wave ANYWHERE in stores? I've been checking Walmarts, Targets, ToysRUses, and comic book shops alllll over Texas pretty consistently for well over a month and have found nothing. why did Hasbro not release this wave when the movie came out?

Well in my area of Texas it's because they flooded the pegs with like 5 restocks of the wave with Taskmaster and Mockingbird so every peg marked for "Captain America Legends" is choking on those figures, Sharon Carter and Cottonmouth chief among them.

Boy Blunder 06-03-2016 08:04 PM

My wife's best friend found the Cap and Iron Man from the Civil War wave at a Hastings. That seems to be the best place to find them thus far.

There's no Hastings in my part of California :C

Hello everyone. Really enjoying what I am seeing from the ML 6 inch line. I have pre order Deadpool and Rouge and head of Onslaught, because for some reason I really see them having a problem hitting stores (Emma, Mags, and Storm...Ha). I'm on the fence with Juggs, and Phoenix from the wave. But, if I see Logan in the wild, I have too, big Wolverine fan and he looks fantastic from the pictures I have see on line.

I wonder if the bareheaded Silk head will look ok on the teenage Spider-girl body, if so I might use it as a base for a Singularity custom:

I say she needs to convince you why you should keep her. ;) heehee

ChuckSass 06-04-2016 06:45 AM

I wish Marvel Legends would kinda do some of the random exclusives that funko does. If there was a con/store exclusive white or dark phoenix, that would be awesome.

I thought it looked like the adult mould, I might be wrong. It will certainly be more convenient if it is the teen one.

We've all been there to some extent. Just tell her nicely that it's something you really enjoy and it will always be a part of your life and that getting rid if it just because she wants it gone would make you resent her in some way. (just guessing you would anyway or you wouldn't be asking). My wife doesn't care she just doesn't want it displayed in living or master bedroom.
