I recall a few of you complaining about the new X-men movie, i just saw it yesterday. I must say i thought it damn good. From the tiny scene with Jackman doing the weapon X homage, to just about everything was good.

However everyone said that girl alexandra shipp is a good actress ? Hard to tell considering she barely spoke through out the movie. Olivia munn looked thr part of psylocke, same thing though barely any talking coming from her either.

I felt a few different stories were put into this movie, overall though i felt it was pretty good especially for a Fox movie.

Agreed, a great movie. Just don't be too picky and enjoy it.

I think Halle Storm was good in all the X-Men movies IMO.

well she nailed a certain look that most of us were partial to, which was the younger Mohawk storm. Halle Berry on the other hand i thought she was ok, but then i think about it again , don't recall her ever having that short of hair in any of the comics. then again i've never been a "hardcore" X-men fan. while i like them i never really religously followed them other than the 90s cartoon.

Back on Topic with the new X wave, i keep checking hoping they put the preorders back up for the single figures but now i noticed the WHOLE WAVE is now sold out on BBTS.....

They must have put up some more then, cause it's still up. Marvel X-Men Legends 2016 Figure Wave 01 - Case of 8 With BAF - Marvel Figures (Hasbro) X-Men

If some casting exec could only find an actor with the presence and skill of Angela Basset, the statuesque grace/elegance/beauty of Iman, and the fierce force of personality that is Grace Jones...well then, that would be perfect. But that ain't gonna happen without cloning and time travel...

I always thought Angela Bassett would be a perfect Storm.

New Legends singles on BBTS including Black Panther and Nick Fury. Just a heads up.

New Marvel Legends! at BigBadToyStore

SymbiSpidey 06-06-2016 10:25 AM

It appears the X-Men wave is listed with a July 2016 date instead of June 2016 on BBTS.

Funnily enough, Joss wrote that! He was asked to give the script a once over, to which he gawked at and edited a large amount, including the addition of an on-going joke concerning lightning where the punchline would be Storm's "the same thing that happens to everything else." However, being the stand up guys that they are, Fox disregarded everything Joss contributed, except that one line. The one line of his that depended on multiple jokes earlier in the script to make sense. Yeaaaah.

I think Shipp did a pretty wonderful job with the accent and tone. Her physical acting needs a lot of work (lifting up your arms would not make a tornado), but I see her becoming a lovely Ororo if developed correctly. That leads me to my next point: there are no "bad" actors in an X-Men film.... there is only Bryan Singer. If Singer doesn't want Storm to be comic accurate, or engaging, or powerful, or a leader, there's not much that Halle Berry could have done. Poor luv was doomed from the start.

The most ironic thing the X-films have ever done is belittle every single female character. They came close to legitimacy with Mystique in DOFP, but, nah, they're still floundering!

It feels like they're at least trying these days, more than can be said for the original trilogy.

And really, no screen actress will ever match the beauty of X-Men TAS Storm.

After all, SHE WILL MEET YOU AT THE MONORAAAAAAAAAIL!

That's true! Apocalypse took a major misstep though, and was mainly the Magneto fan club, again (Singer just cannot make ensemble pieces). Mystique, Moira (who has never been Moira), Psylocke, and Storm were all victims of cardboard cut-outitis. Jean was the only one truly involved, and even then Singer has this obsession with Xavier controlling her power levels..

At least Hasbro have got the formula right, though. Phoenix, Rogue and Kitty in this wave, Dazzler and Polaris in the next (rumoured) wave, and X-23, Mystique and Lady Deathstrike in the (also rumoured) Wolverine wave. That's some solid representation of the X-Men's core female characters!

I also doubt that anyone could write Storm the way Claremont did. Across any media. He wove so finely her aspects of strength, doubt, regality, earthliness, darkness and raw power that no-one has come close to since. (imo, of course!)

Id love to see characters like revanche and diamondback and the black and green rogue and a new classic clooking longshot.

I really hope all these rumored X-waves come to fruition. Really need Polaris, X-23, and Lady Deathstrike. I want most of the others, but I NEED these three!!!

heh G W Bridge...Do you remember when he was acting director of SHIELD for a time? I forget why...I think it may have been during that Nick Fury vs Shield limited series...I always wondered if that was the impetus for Samuel Fury.

I hope they add more X-Men in the 3.75 line up as well! We could use all these characters too even an updated X-23.

At this point I'll take any X-23 they give. (Though I'd prefer X-force or ANAD Wolverine with extra heads and hands!!:D )

Dr Kain 06-06-2016 12:36 PM
