I think this time of year is my most and least favorite - the month or so lead up to SDCC. Nearly all the stuff were shown at NYTF is "soon" to ship but not out yet and most of the older waves (Civil War is a huge anomaly) have been found or can be found for close to MSRP.
meanwhile, hints/rumors of things to come are in the air but nothing is confirmed yet and won't be for another six weeks. Desperate for any sliver of information/rumor we are... So for those of us who have been lucky enough to find the Civil War wave, it's a mini drought before the monsoon. |

Speaking of X-Men, I was going on a mini-adventure around the house and came across some Barbecue Skewers, which fit the Gambit figure I have perfectly with a little bit of modifying. Currently in the progress of making him a staff since I lost the one that came packaged with the figure.
Also received the Walgreens Namor in the mail today. Price was twice as much as retail on Amazon, but I had Amazon Points so I figured why not? Figure is absolutely amazing, easily the best Namor to date, maybe one of my favorite Legends of the year just for how awesome that head sculpt is. Unfortunately, mine is a bit loose in the right hip so I'm gonna have to find some Floor Polish to coat that joint with. Also need to work on getting him a better trident: the Odin staff is too large to stay snugly in his hand. I've heard and seen good things about the DCUC Aquaman trident. |

And that completed Onslaught... oh man. I can't. I love it. |
Hello, all. I do want the Big Pun and Namor as well in the ML line, as a matter of fact, I went to Walgreens with girlfriend today, she wanted to go to CVS, but I quickly said Walgreens for one reason (Namor). So we both went inside, and I quietly snuck away to the toy section, but I did not find Namor, but I found something that I told myself I would not pass on if I seen it again, Superior Venom! To me this figure is just a work of art in all detail. Very impressed with him, so happy to have him in hand, so at least I did not walk away empty handed from the mini hunt.

On another note, since these "Energizing Emissaries" listed in the Cap Wave 3 are a choice between Brian Braddock, Wonder Man, and Crossbones, I reckon 'bones has been ruled out. He doesn't manipulate any form of energy (like Wonder Man), and he isn't an emissary of any sort, unlike Cap Britain (who acts as one for the entire Multiverse), and Wonder Man, who qualifies due to his pacifism. I'll be very glad if it is, as Crossbones has had a pretty decent (and available) figure, while Cap B and Wonder Man are staple characters in dire need of redos. |

And thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I'm still not sold on using any of the Steve heads, but the Clint Barton Ronin head might fit the bill. Now it's just a matter of finding one for cheap... |
If crossbones did get pushed out of the wave I hope he pops up in another one soon. He hasn't been at retail for 8 years and that was a Walmart exclusive I believe. Booth ths version and the sdcc one sell or well over 100 bucks so I'm sure he'd be welocme in many collections.
|
That's true, and he'll no doubt reappear sometime (like Shocker will), but in my opinion Wonder Man and Captain Britain take precedence, since they're much bigger characters, and their last (and only) MLs are not good.
The question is whether they'll make a new comic accurate Crossbones (as the old one is becoming a tad dated while still good), or opt for the Civil War version, with all the extra sculpting detail... |
1st.
Does anyone have an SDCC Luke Cage?? (and a Scourge/Demo Man) I want to try his head on a Scourge body.. but the head looks big as hell. 2nd. Nitelife suggested making a Bishop head for the Scourge body (which i thought was a cool idea)..and I have a cusmtomizer who does some nice work that will paint it up for me BUT..what head should i use as a base? Any ideas? 3rd. I'm talking to this other guy that makes custom dioramas. I wanted to make something original. Not an alleyway or outside a garage, or rooftop. Something that could be a little more practical for day to day action figure interaction and banter :o) but would suffice if a small skirmish was to breakout. i WAS talking to him about making an arcade, so I could use the 1/12 video game cabinets i bought. But as i looked at many arcade pictures, it seems like it'd wind up being too detailed to make it look right, which means a lot of $$$. Does anyone have any ideas of what might make a cool indoor diorama setting for the legends to get their chill on. |
I know a guy who did a scale replica of his apartment, it turned out pretty cool. He even made a small replica of the replica to put in it.
Or a danger room/ training room |
@Dark
How about an office setting with three familiar locales: lounge/kitchen, cubicles/European open-office format (personally, I'm not a fan of this set-up - me and my silly American needs for some semblance of privacy :p f-teamwork lol), and a meeting room. There's plenty of comedic gold (if I know you at all, I imagine that will be the angle you work toward ;)) to be found in the workplace, as I'm sure many of us know from personal experience. Additionally, it will be easy to make familiar accessories; white boards, water coolers, cubicles, cheap carpeting, pc towers/laptops, and ergonomically f'd-up chairs are just some of the things that come to mind. You could even use your video-game cabinets if you suggest it's a tech start-up or a gaming company. I'm sure pics of that nature would resonate with many along with comedic super-hero themes... ...or you could go with a Super-hero high-school. Equal potential for yuks...classroom, lockers/hallway, gym/showers... Edit: In other news....I found the Civil War wave at Walmart in the NYC tristate this afternoon. I was able to grab 4 of the 6, only missing out on Panther and Nuke. If I could just find Namor now... |
Yo dtl a good base would be a cast of dcuc black lightning. That luke head will be too big for the smaller electro/scourge body.

And yeah..that Cage head looked like it was too big.. @ BlueMarvel ...interesing idea with the "office"..lol..i can see that working. Just the logistics of what will fit/work/pull of what i want, in a 20in width dio.. Glad you finally found some of those figs...YOU are a patient man.. Oh and you suggested John Stewart..i did actually come across a custom where the dude kinda scraped some of the hair off and used putty to smooth it out to make a bald headed john stewart...Seems like a good idea to me.. (for someone that knows what they are doing) ************************************** So glad i found the Ark. Completed three BAFs in two trades from here!! ..and that Apoc has been missing his right arm for 8 years..(now if i can find those tubes). http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...pslqkqwc0i.jpg and had this dude for few weeks but finally opened him up like two days ago. http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...psjmnw3hji.jpg |

@ Dark.. er, DTL... er, Mr. Toy Lord
I gotta second Blue Marvel's office setting idea- a custom/scaled water cooler would provide ample opportunity for hero/villain gossip & smack talkin' about their teammates. I'm super keen on the meeting room setup: basic long table/chairs/walls. Then use an appropriate base as the background centerpiece wall-hanging: TBML Ult. Cap stand for SHIELD HQ & latest MS WWII Cap comes with a great Hydra emblem backdrop. I'm sure other similar bases are available for X-Men, FF4, etc. (DC stuff too). Also I've seen similar free downloadable 'medallions' for 3D-printing if you have access (my local library allows folks to print on theirs for a super modest fee- just enough to cover the cost of filament). You could even go with regular color printing of just some standard pictures/portraits: Hitler flanked by a Messerschmidt & a Panzer for Skull's boardroom for instance. |

That head for bishop reminds me of the NYX story line back in the day. I'd darken the hair to make him look younger though.

Has there been any word about the Target 2-pack of War Machine and Disco Iron Man? I'm probably the only person who wants it, but I'm shocked we haven't heard anything about it in the US despite it being out for months at this point overseas.

Just to let everyone know who's been searching high and low for the Giant Man wave, these are starting to hit the stores now, as I ran into them for the first time tonight at my local Walmart...although...there was something somewhat...off with them. If you catch my drift...
http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...608_161426.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...608_161538.jpg If I hadn't already picked these up as a case weeks ago, I would have been pretty pissed off, as again, this is the first time I've seen any figures from the wave in store. This kind of stupid BS is the exact reason I no longer do this for "the hunt" and just buy these things in cases as they release, and sell off what I don't want or need. |
@Dark
Yeah I was going to suggest that Mythic Legions fig, but you mentioned that you wanted a bald/modern Bishop...and his full beard made it a poor fit for locs-sporting Bishop...so I skipped the suggestion. They are in scale, by the way. However, Otho's (character name) head might still be too large for Demolition Man/Scourge. I still need Panther and Nuke...I was lucky enough to get in pre-orders for a couple of Shield agents and Panther, but I will still be looking. I hate to tell you this, but you mixed the variant (black) Apocalypse with the standard (blue) version...but some people don't care. |
