Creating The Knightship For Transformers: Age Of Extinction

ILM has posted a video, going behind the scenes of creating the Knightship from Transformers: Age Of Extinction.

"Creating the Knightship for "Transformers: Age of Extinction" was an immense challenge for the visual effects team due to it's massive scale. In fact, the Knightship is over five times larger than the worm-like drilling robot that appeared in "Dark of the Moon" which had previously held the record at ILM for most complex model."

Transformers Adventure Powerglide and Cosmos Announced

Originally posted by: Sol Fury @ TFW2005.com

Via our sponsors Big Bad Toy Store, we have learned that Takara-Tomy intends to release the Legends class Transformers figures Cosmos and Powerglide in their Transformers Adventure line. The pair have been released in the US as a part of the Transformers Generations Thrilling 30 and Combiner Wars lines' Legends class assortments. Please note the images so far are placeholders most likely using the Hasbro releases.

This may seem a bit odd, given Takara-Tomy's Transformers Adventure line is ostentatiously a line for the new Robots in Disguise toys, but there are a few non Robots in Disguise guys in there including Generations Shrapnel and Bombshell, redecos of Beast Hunters Knock Out and Dreadwing, and redecos of Animated Swoop, Snarl and Lockdown to name but a few. In other words, as far as lines go, it's a bit of a melting pot where anything goes!

Also available for preorder at TFSource: Cosmos and Powerglide

Good news, Kre-O fans! The Kre-O Transformers Microchangers Wave 4 - which featured the likes of Alpha Trion, Rodimus, Cyclonus, Sandstorm, and Demolishor - has begun to appear on the shelves of Family Dollar stores. First spotted at retail nearly a year ago now, this series was extremely hard to find, thanks to its low distribution. With it now reaching Family Dollar stores, fans who missed out on the blink-and-miss-it availability last year have a second chance at these great little releases. Big thanks to TFW2005 member ChErikS for the sighting news.

Transformers: Legends Game Event - Key To Vector Sigma: Part 1

The next DeNA Transformers: Legends event; Key To Vector Sigma: Part 1 is now live.

This week's event introduces R8 Cards and Combiners to the mobile game (no doubt as a part of the Combiner Wars initiative).

Official Event Description:
"After the DECEPTICONS fail to steal the superfuel that has been given to the AUTOBOTS, their leader decides that they need their own land-based forces. After some choice thefts and modifications with Cybertronian technology, the STUNTICONS are born. But as powerful as they are, they lack the spark of life. And the only place to obtain it is Vector Sigma.

The AUTOBOTS learn of the DECEPTICONS’ plan, and realize that the newly created STUNTICONS will need to be taken to Cybertron to be given true life. In order to counter this, a group of AUTOBOTS returns to their home world to create their own sky-worthy forces.

Both groups arrive at Vector Sigma nearly simultaneously, and the AUTOBOTS and the DECEPTICONS bring life to their new allies in time for a major showdown. On one side, MOTORMASTER and the other STUNTICONS rise to life, while on the other, FIREFLIGHT, ALPHA BRAVO, and the AERIALBOTS stand tall, fighting for control of the key to Vector Sigma!

The battle starts to go badly for the DECEPTICONS, but as things look grim for them, the STUNTICONS join together to become the colossal MENASOR! With the increased firepower of their gigantic foe, the tide begins to turn against the AUTOBOTS.

Will the AERIALBOTS be able to defeat the vicious STUNTICONS? Or will MENASOR and the DECEPTICONS drive the AUTOBOTS out of Vector Sigma? Find out in TRANSFORMERS Legends - “The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 1”!

—

Please note that the reward card listed for the top 100 prize, MENASOR, is an Evolution card, and not a Trans-Scan card as is shown in the Join the Event screen. The top 100 prize will NOT include this version, only the Evolution version of the card. Thank you.

Roll out,

TRANSFORMERS Legends Team"

Accessories include :
- One (1) Relaxed palms (Right)
- One (1) Pair of Dual Swords (Right, Left)

Transformers: Robots In Disguise US Premiere Date And Series Timeslot Revealed

Here is a big news our US Transformers Fans were waiting for… we finally have the official US Premiere Date and Series Timeslot for Transformers: Robots In Disguise.

Set to debut with a primetime premiere on March 14 at 6/5c, before transforming into its regular 6:30 a.m. slot on March 21.

With an exclusive video from the show where the creators explain the series, TV Insider has the scoop:

"Just when it seemed like Saturday morning cartoons had gone the way of Cybertron, the Cartoon Network and Hasbro are giving us (and the machines) a reason to rise and shine with Transformers: Robots in Disguise. Centered on Bumblebee, the Autobot also known as a yellow muscle car, this fun new entry in the franchise inspired by Hasbro's popular line of mighty morphin' mobile changers has a more humorous vibe than previous incarnations such as Transformers: Prime or Beast Wars.

In this version, Optimus Prime puts 'Bee in charge of protecting our planet when the troublemaking Transformers on the new team—including Dinobot fave Grimlock—find their metal, err, mettle tested by a crew of Decepticons, who wreak havoc on mankind after their prison ship crashes on Earth. Among the vocal cast is Glee's Darren Criss, Entourage's Constance Zimmer, Boy Meets World's Will Friedle, and the only person who should ever voice Optimus Prime, Peter Cullen.

Check out this exclusive look at the series, which is set to debut with a primetime premiere on March 14 at 6/5c, before transforming into its regular 6:30 a.m. slot on March 21."

TFW2005 super moderator optimusfan came home to a surprise today: the latest TFCC issue - #61 to be precise. On its cover is the upcoming Generations Legends class Warpath figure, with a full page reveal on the inside. Warpath sounds to be a retool of Legends Megatron:

"I'm not posting images due to TFCC's policies, but Warpath appears to a recolor/ remold of the Generations Legends Megatron toy. Tank barrel / gun is held between his hands in tank mode. The colors and head are very much G1 Warpath, but obviously he lacks the classic barrel chest due to the mold choice."

While no images can be posted, it's not hard to visualize what he may look like.

Rescue Bots High Tide, Blurr and Salvage Toy Fair Official Images

Originally posted by: Sol Fury @ TFW2005.com

Hasbro have also released some official images of their Rescue Bots releases ahead of Toy Fair 2015. On show here are:

High Tide, a playset figure with a blue mini-sub - the mini sub is apparently High Tide, with the steamship being his ship which it sounds like he can pilot. The ship acts as a playset for the Rescan and PVC figure releases.

Official images have also been shared for Blurr and Salvage, who are also reported to be joining the larger "Elite" class releases - and the current Rescan assortment will also add classic versions of Bumblebee, Blades and Chase later in 2015 - but if you want to see the new helicopter Blades now, check out the High Tide images - you'll see Blades on the landing pad.

Rescue Bots will also be bringing out some all-new "scene packs" based on scenes from the cartoon - with the first two being the Shark Sub Capture with Blades and Dr Morocco and the Tunnel Drill Rescue with Chase and Graham Burns. Rounding off the Rescue Bots announcements, there will be two more basic sized "Featured Bot" assortment figures like the recently released Boulder and Heatwave - the pair will be Optimus Prime and High Tide.

IDW Transformers Comics for February 18 Delayed

Comic Book Resources passes on some news that IDW's comics due out February 18 - and potentially in following weeks - are liable to be delayed, due to an ongoing dispute that has led to the closure of ports in Long Beech, CA.

The report goes that due to the ongoing issues, there are unpredictable delays to all the titles due out next week from IDW in spite of their best efforts - digital releases will also be affected, as IDW attempts to keep both on the same shipping schedule.

The issues hit with the delay include both Transformers 38 and More than Meets the Eye 38, the Transformers Primacy trade paperback, and in a bitter twist of fate given the delays to Transformers: Legacy, the Transformers Animated Complete Allspark Almanac.

The Legends class Warpath is a retool of the Generations Megatron figure released as a part of the "thrilling 30" section of the Generations line. Like the recent Huffer-from-Optimus release, the head has been retooled, and like Huffer, the figure does an admirable job of looking like Warpath - although, he's traded the chest-mounted cannon for a Megatron arm cannon - will this be the deal breaker that keeps him from being added to your toys?

Hasbro have also released some new official images of their new Robots in Disguise 2015 line. Included in this round of reveals are:
  • Our first look at the "Deployers" and Mini-Cons series of releases. Deployer Fracture and Mini-Con Slipstream are shown - Fracture is a larger (looks to be Warrior, and transforms in 10 steps according to a press release) sized figure, who comes with a launcher. Slipstream turns into a hockey puck, and is a one-step changer. Mentioned but not shown is a Drift Deployer and more Mini-Cons, apparently in two types - Drift gets the hockey pucks or "sawblades", while Fracture gets Mini-Cons who turn into torpedoes. There's a separate Mini-Con assortment coming, with four figures in it - Slipstream, Dragonus, Divebomb and Sawback.
  • A look at a Super Bumblebee, who costs $49.99, transforms in three steps, and plays sound effects in both modes, including the transformation sound effect when going between modes.
  • A Mega Optimus Prime, who retails for $29.99, transforms in one step, and can equip Mini-Cons as weapons and armor.
  • There is also a look at a Legion class and Titan Hero version of the Autobot Sideswipe
