so a google search later and ...yeah i see what you mean...would probably have to sculpt the belt to make it look legit though. saw this while searching..not bad at all.. http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...psskhdefnp.jpg wonder what head sculpt it is.. I'd need to find something from the knee down that had boots similar to that. ...and I found a use for that crazy Grim Reaper head...it's a little big..but it'll work..a little sanding on the sides and a little paint and we'll see how it comes out.. http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...psjgc7kfma.jpg |
Very much digging your uses of the Scourge body DTL. It makes me want to get some more for my own use. Did you pick up the machine gun from one of the casters?

All right, so I got too busy to post the other pics last night, so here they are, only a little late.
http://i67.tinypic.com/2ahv60h.jpg Obviously, the trident, being a redeco of Allfather Odin's Gungnir lance, is a bit big for Namor's hand. Made more difficult by the fact that he has the same hands as Whirlwind, so only one is actually open - the other is connected at the thumb and forefinger, and while it can hold other weapons, it can't be forced apart. The trident doesn't seem to affect his open hand too much, but just in case, he won't be wielding it much on display. Incidentally, if anyone has the trident that came with the earlier Hasbro Namor and feels like parting with it, let me know! http://i67.tinypic.com/3586q6a.jpg His swimming/flying hands are a nice addition, and I realized that, had they not been included, it really would have hurt the figure, fantastic as he is. Because what is the King of Atlantis without the ability to cut through the current? Also, with the earlier comments on how shiny he is, they actually painted his irises silver, which gives him a much more 'non-human', detached quality. Add in his ability to look down on others, and Namor really crushes it. I think his skin tone may have a bit of extra sheen to it, but I'm not entirely certain. http://i67.tinypic.com/2cqecmu.jpg With fellow defenders Dr. Strange and Valkyrie (and, soon, perhaps a Hellcat). He's a nice size, and while he has the basic proportions of the 'standard' male buck (the type used for Blizzard, Batroc, Giant Man, etc), his additional torso tooling and his new arms really help give him a bit more imposition when set with other figures. Yeah, I really like that he has thicker arms. Adds to the 'swimmer' build a bit. Also, @Nash, if you use him for a Northstar, definitely go with Blizzard as the base body. Using Speed Demon makes him look like a Pez dispenser. I forgot to take some pics last night, but I can take some later today if you want photo evidence of the awkward results. http://i67.tinypic.com/10o08qo.jpg A royal beatdown for Tiger Shark. Namor's articulation is par for the course, though the ankle wings to affect the range of his sideways ankle tilt. Not drastically, but enough to note. Likewise, the larger biceps make his arms harder to draw in to his body (see the arms-folded pose in the Defenders pic). Otherwise, though, he's got full range of motion. http://i68.tinypic.com/ot13k8.jpg "The oceans recognize no master, save he who is a prince born. Imperious Rex!" All in all, Namor's a fantastic figure. So glad I got hooked up with one. Quote:

- I know it was a joke, I'm not that dense. It wasn't a funny joke, and I was expressing that opinion. - Any time you have to add 'just kidding' to the end of a statement, it's because you know that it's going to rub someone the wrong way, and therefore you feel the need to do pre-emptive damage control. Which is a sign that you just shouldn't say it in the first place. - The comment was crass and sexist, and didn't even add to the conversation. It only exists because I mentioned that the manager was a woman, who specifically called me because of the scenario (Namor being in stock). If this had been a man who called me, the attempted 'joke' would never have been made, but since it was a woman, suddenly it's okay to make a vaguely lewd joke that she might call for 'other reasons.' Please think on that. As I said, done with that conversation now. Back to the toys, yo! |

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...pslnljxs4r.jpg this one i'm trying to turn into Blade...we'll see how this goes.. http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...psi8kcbhwy.jpg |
@BB
Thanks for the nice pics and breakdown... Do you have the extra hands for Iron Fist? I bought extras in preparation for Namor, hoping that they would be the same size and on the same peg. If you do have them, can you tell me whether they swap well with Namor? side note...damn do I need a new camera. Been feeling I've reached the limits of mine for some time now...what model camera are you using? |
Thanks for the advice Boy Blunder. I will definitely just go with the Blizzard, especially given the color arrangement. No need to go to the trouble of pics, I can picture it easy enough (and obviously when I get Namor I can see for myself :D).
Cool pics though! thanks for posting 'em |

EDIT: @TBM, Never picked up that Iron Fist - I'm holding out for the green-and-yellow one from the upcoming Dr. Strange wave - so I'm afraid I couldn't tell you. I can try the other hands in my collection and tell you the results, if you like. As for the camera... the pics were all taken from my phone (Galaxy S5), with a little bit of color rebalancing in Photoshop to make them less washed-out than they were (and subsequently look more like the actual in-hand figure). For more 'pro'-style shots, I go with my trusty Nikon Coolpix L810, which does a bang-up job on outdoor/natural lighting photos (as evidenced here). |
Picked up 2 Namors for my cousins here in the Sacramento area at a store that had 4 on the shelf. He's definitely in Nor Cal. Walgreens exclusives are super easy to get out here. =)

@BB
Oh, ok. I added your tumblr to my favorites ages ago...enjoyed going through the TF stuff...crazy collection there. 'Sad tear' that your phone gets better quality on images than my shitty ten+ year-old X-775...I'm so cheap...unless of course it pertains to figs...but, yeah, I think it may be time to 'give a damn'... |
Forgot to add a note: while the scales were overall very sharply painted on mine, there were a couple of areas where it smeared a little bit, but only a little. The lines between the edge of the vest and his bare torso are a bit fuzzy down in the abdominal area, and the details on his belt didn't get fully filled in.
Still, paint work was overall good, and I'm happy with him (though if they'd been on display, I probably would have spent longer trying to find the 'perfect' one for me). @TBM - Yeah, my wife's happy that she gets to upgrade in a couple more months, because her phone's camera got outclassed the moment I picked mine up :D and thanks for enjoying the photos! I'll probably take some more extensive photosets in the next few months, for both ML and more TFs, so keep watching! |
@DTL
Yeah, I meant the mini gun. Could not think of the term earlier. Thanks for the clarification. I REALLY need to up my weapons. |
@Kirathis
The McFarlane Vulcan Raven metal gear solid figure has a FANTASTIC mini-gun that looks suitably huge with MLs. Worth tracking down. |

1. that mini-gun never came up in my search for mini-guns 2. DAMN..thanks a lot...now i feel compelled to snag that figure..which i've NEVER seen before but looks damn cool.:mad: and :) Does anyone know a skeleton figure that is 6 inch scale ??? NOT 7" and not 5" and... http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...psipnazmyn.jpg |
@Dark
lol been waiting for this...:popcorn ...and Mythic Legions has a few armored skeletons and a few sellers on Shapeways have some interesting things... |

@UpDog
Yeah, snagged that whole set on the cheap sometime last year. Still need to take that dude out of the pack. |
@Dark
Glad to see someone else snagged Figuarts Bruce! Love that figure... well worth the price. He displays pretty well with Legends since Bruce was totally short in real life. The way they solved the baggy pants issue to keep him poseable is completely brilliant too. Quick low quality shot of Modern vs. Classic Namor for the Legends heads... glad to know my old custom is basically the same height as the new guy. =) http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/uplo...80_1979040.jpg |

@Trivial
Was going to say something, dude...but I figured I'd let you speak for yourself. Can't tell you how many instant copy-customs I saw on eBay after you posted your recipe on the Ark! You're famous!!! Even if they (the imitators) gave you no credit! ;) |
