that hulk is awful, and so is most of that line. but some of you are gonna collect everything in this line right? for completion?

Loki, Ultimates Thor, Hawkeye's, Black Widow x6 for a new female mold for customs.
Then it just depends what's coming down the pipe. I may get one of the Cap tank things and make a SHIELD vehicle of some sort...

I agree with this. I bought Loki online because he looks great and I do worry - after the whole Thor mess - whether he will get out on the pegs or not, as it could be two waves and done for the Avengers they look so poor. The Ultimates figures look good and I will get those if I can find them. But as a whole, this was not a good decision. Some ideas seem like a "can't lose" proposition - like the Shield Helicarrier or the Quinjet - yet they made them loser ideas.

I may buy more than I plan when I see them on the shelves but I don't think so at $9 or $10 a pop. Price and execution are the downfall of this toy line.

bmorr 02-20-2012 07:27 AM

if the articulation is the same as the thor figs, i already know they are never gonna stand up on my display shelf. My warriors three are like ticking time bombs ready to nuke my shelf, taking thirty dudes with them.

I don't make custom figures but I might have to start on AoA!

Totally agree!
Though Duardians of the Galaxy slightly edges out Atlas for me.
Was looking at Michael's art supply yeaterday (with BigHank'sCustoms) and found a dog that might make a good Cozmo...there's a gorilia that might make a nice Ken, scalewise, but it's a static piece- no articulation whatever.

What do you think about a ROC Storm Shadow head on a SDCC Destro body (suit) for Jimmy?

You're dead to me. DEAD!;)
When I post pics of my Kree custom later, you'll see why I wanted him...but I have another till I can score more....prepare for the shiney this afternoon!

Nah she loves MC2 May Parker, where the daughter of Spider-Man becomes Spider-Girl.

Everytime I go to a Ross and see the ROC Storm Shadow I think he'd be perfect for Jimmy.

i bought it cause im not that picky about figures... i know its the worst hulk.. imo just need purple pants..lol

D00MTR0N 02-20-2012 09:22 AM

check out my mu trade thread,I am willing to trade 4 mu figs listed in the thread for 1 jazzwares sub zero, not to go off topic but he is all I need to complete my MK collection \m/

Optimus Vader 02-20-2012 09:23 AM

The Avengers Loki figure is actually one of my favorite 3.75" figures at the moment. I'm no completest, but if there's a nice figure out there, I'll probably buy it.

Quakehold, brother! You'll never have to worry again.

It doesn't damage the paint?

Jason Abbadon 02-20-2012 09:47 AM

Nope- completely safe....and he'd be useing it uunder the feet anyway.

I use it to fill the heads of SW sized heads on MU pegs and it's never marred paint or discolored the peg.

uberlad 02-20-2012 10:03 AM

Count me in for the Agents of Atlas pack, even though I don't live in Florida :).

I would even pick up doubles of Namora to repaint as a New Warriors Namorita.

As for Jimmy Woo, I'm holding out for the MIB 3 line. There will be dudes in suits at retail! With ties, not like that hipster no-tie-in-a-suit Brad Cooper figure from the A-Team.

I'm also holding out for the Captain America figures to go on clearance. If I can get the pack for under $10 bucks, I may army build to make my own kree soldiers.

Jason Abbadon 02-20-2012 10:10 AM

I'm modding the Captain Britian three pack version now...then the carded Cap line Captain Britian...there's a bunch of Kree military branches with different colors...and of course, different bodies and builds only adds to an army-builder experience, so they're not Stormtroopers.

They get away with it because they're clones...SW customizers have it easy.
Fuckers.

bmorr 02-20-2012 10:16 AM

ok, so i went to marshalls today and found some SW figs. Why am i posting this here? Because i saw grevious and I knew instantly what i wanted to do with it. I got home and did a simple head swap to make a modern Ultron:

Jason Abbadon 02-20-2012 10:23 AM

Cool! I have HERBIE's head on my grievus...which I also got at Marshalls!

Too bad they dont make a Jocasts figure- she'd be Kali!

behindthemask 02-20-2012 10:43 AM

General grevious makes a pretty sick Ultron, I would paint him all silver/chrome, and maybe remove the 2 extra arms and attach some war machine shoulder cannons, lol.

bmorr 02-20-2012 10:55 AM

it was mostly the red cape that sold me. plus it looks more alien. makes sense because he hates humans, why look like one.

Do you have a website with pics of your customs? I wanna see 'em.

I've collected all the ones I've found so far, but I'm starting to really believe this is just a bad idea. I'll likely never be able to complete the Thor line for less than $100 for the Kings, and then what? Who's going to buy the complete Thor line? If I ever wanted to get rid of them, I'd have to piece them out, and those repaints are never going to sell. I've honestly really started thinking hard about trying to take them into Targets and Walmarts and exchange them for stuff I enjoy collecting, rather than the load that is the movie lines.

IM2 is quite a bit different, what with all the nice comic versions sprinkled throughout. Collecting the remaining 5 or 6 repaints really wasn't a big deal because there was so much variety in the rest of the line.

Cap's line is much more on the fence too. It's nice to have it complete, but how many different colored pants versions of cap does someone need? Really, this is the only line I'm 100% complete on...

The more I think about it, the better it is to opt-out of this one. I hope my OCD lets me...

For you AoA fans ^, I wonder if this "Papo gorilla mutant" figure might work for a custom Ken Hale. I've seen him at a local toystore more than a few times, and he always stuck out to me as being a good base for GM. Granted, he's pretty lacking on the articulation still but with a little creative sculpting I think he could maybe work. :)
