Congrats man!

No ship notice yet on my own CM, but I did the whole PO musical chairs gig and may have to wait until a restock, sadly enough.

Good luck to ya brother.

It's going to be hard to say "no" to that Classified Hisstank. I'll be in the dog house for a while, but hopefully my trespass will be forgiven in time...

I just don't know how some of these Hisstank guys backed 3. That's almost $1000! We obviously live in different tax brackets.

tierneygreen 06-29-2022 10:34 AM

Yeah, I couldn't resist either. Just backed for one, though. It has pretty much everything I'd hoped for - lights, working treads, and lots of interior details. Part of me hopes that one of the tiers is a repack of the Regal Variant Cobra Commander, or some variation using that lighter shade of blue. Which kinda makes sense seeing that CC was on the box art of the original toy.

Edit: Looks like this thing might actually get funded by the weekend.

Sataninjaku 06-29-2022 10:50 AM

That "HISS Tactician" is a shoe-in, this thing is blowing the fuck up. I'm confident in seeing it funded by the time I pop my evening beer.

Whoa! 7083, as of my posting this. When I checked earlier it was at 3K and change, but I totally expected that to taper off as the day went on. Glad I was wrong.

What's the record for a Haslab hitting its minimum goal? If memory serves, the Sentinel was funded pretty quickly.

I don't know about the record, but I do know I'm still at least 2 hours away from aforementioned evening beer- I think I called it! This is CRAZY.

Yep, you called it. Sláinte!

SpasticPlastic 06-29-2022 05:11 PM

That funded in under 9 hours. The previous record holder, big marvel guy, funded in about 28 hours, I think.

HoovenIV 06-29-2022 06:01 PM

I would have lost that bet if someone told me they thought it was going to fund that fast.

I'm happy it got funded though and it certainly is a very cool product. But it isn't 300 bucks cool to me. But who's to say? After some stretch goals get met, maybe I'll cave in.

At first I was a bit hesitant when the price was confirmed yesterday, but I immediately reminded myself of how the unlocks and any included figures add to the value. Taking the Driver off of the table and including him in the base price, we've already knocked $25 off in the first 9 hours. At the rate it's going (and provided the unlocks aren't bones), this thing ought to look like a steal very soon. And I'm about 75% sure that whatever "secret incentive" they had in store as a contingency (ala the Cobra Hack) will still come to pass regardless of whether we hit that final tier or not- this is Classified's first Haslab outing, and they've already broken the Haslab record. They are going to want to do everything in their power to get those numbers as high as possible.

Designincase 06-29-2022 06:36 PM

On paper you'd think HISS would have taken a bit to get going. That a early bird figure was unlikely.

The night isn't over and it's closer to busting through 1st tier unlock.

It's a preorder now.

Okay you know what I'm gonna call it now.

The backer count
ITS OVER 9000!

I said something similar to this over on the 'tank earluier, but what I hate is that crowdfunding has to happen. But, at the end of the day, Walmart would realistically carry like five of these, we'd be pissed off because they were sold out, (or even worse, clearanced out, in turn killing the chance for vehicles in the line, bringing us to crowdfunding) or we'd have to scramble for preorders that may never ship. I'm really, really, REALLY fucking tired of preorders. I'll take a crowdfunded guaranteed product over all of that mess any time.

What I really want is 1986 Toys "R" Us.

Dr Kain 06-29-2022 07:35 PM

I don't mind crowdfunding depending on the company. There are people who have taken advantage of crowd funding and screwed their buyers over. However, Hasbro and Limited Run games has yet to do me wrong.

Hahahahahaha. I said the same thing to my wife and she just glared at me as she shook her head.

Oh, tier 1 was revealed to be a set of 6 missiles for each side fo the tank.

MeLikeJinx 06-29-2022 07:40 PM

Those side missiles are neat... wish the 25th version had those.

I definitely stick with the corporate campaigns, not only because they're more trustworthy, but because I don't really collect independently produced figures. Limited Run can piss off with their aggressive emails, though. I like to stay in the loop on what's coming and all, but I literally have at least one new message from them daily.

Designincase 06-29-2022 08:39 PM

A Haslab I feel isn't a true crowdfund. It's a fancy preorder.
In contrast to other crowdfunds, you are actually making a purchase.
You aren't donating a $1 and hope to see this product happen.

At this moment it's a preorder page now.

I'm looking at other forums and people bring up how Hasbro has plenty of cash to put a product into production. That's true......and then the customer pays so Hasbro recoups that cost and make a profit.

This is all true, and in truth, I don't mind it at all because it really takes the risk out of the equation for both parties. If it fails, Hasbro is really only out the cost of R&D (and some marketing), and I don't have to pay for anything. And to reiterate, it's guaranteed found product. We are guaranteed a HISS now. It's a win-win, in my book.

Yes, the glory days of finding stuff in the wild were nice (when you could), but those days are done. I'll take this model over trying to guess who in the hell is going to ship the Crimson Guard first any day of the week. As an added bonus, this is a BOTTOMLESS preorder. Completely unlimited, provided you get in while it's open. No one that has the means to buy it has anyone to blame but themselves if they miss it. For this exact reason, it also removes the issue of scalping.

Lastly (and this is a point of contention for many), these are all above and beyond what's going to be available at retail. I'm sorry folks, but the level of detail and care found here is simply not going to show up at Walmart. I mean, just look at the harness and taillights. Tiny, seemingly insignificant details, all given loving attention by someone that's obviously passionate about what they do. At Walmart, you could expect the same hollow near-brick of a tank we've been getting for years, only bigger.

^Ha. My beers are showing!

Why would I donate $1 and get nothing?

What people seem to ignore is that these Haslab items would not work in a full retail environment. They assume because it's Hasbro they could afford to produce this item, sell it in stores for like $150, and every single one of them would sell out when it could end up being the opposite with stores taking a big loss.

Yeah, Limited Run can get a bit excessive on the emails, but whatever. I can't wait for my Castlevania collections and hope they do one for the GBA one soon.

I skipped the Castlevania collection mostly down to having owned almost everything on it in it's original form until I recently decided to sell all but IV. I came to realize that I prefer the series from SOTN forward, when the Metroidvania thing really took hold. I agreed on the need to get the GBA games out on a cartridge though, and I'll be pissed if SOTN doesn't get a rerelease on the Switch as well. I literally have a PS2 still just in case I want to play that single game, now that Legend of Mana has a release.

My own experience with LR is pretty... err... limited. I just bought the Contra comp and Dragon View for the SNES. I'm kinda ambivalent about the Contra collection for the same reasons I am the Castlevania collection, but I'm really looking forward to Dragon View. The OG cart is expensive as hell The rerelease caught me by surprise, it's a pretty obscure game.
