I had a question that belonged in this thread..why 2 series of Die-Cast vehicles of similar size?
This week I purchased
Star Wars Hot Wheels Jedi Interceptor and Black Series Titanium First Order Star Destroyer
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/705/2...6911a9a4_z.jpgUntitled by Tsak Knight, on Flickr
I'm perplexed...why TWO lines of die-cast metal ships at retail?
I plan to do a quick review video, like

i think its because hot wheels was already running their own and then hasbro wanted to get back into the miniatures game.

bmorr 09-12-2015 08:40 AM

I'm not 100% sure, since now it gives people the option to pick one line over the other, it's almost like Star Wars gave Mattel permission to make Hot Wheels for them including the ships and then Hasbro was like "hey wait we can still make the ships too." It's like there's some strange in-fighting at the Star Wars marketing team.

I feel like Hot Wheels won this one, I was in store and grabbed the Millenium Falcon, TIE fighter, and Slave-1 from both lines to compare and the Hot Wheels were both bigger and had slightly more sculpted detail (probably because they're bigger). Both lines have fairly equal levels of good paint apps but when they cost the same and one is larger then I lean to the line with larger ships. The one thing I noticed (and I don't even know that they all have this) is that the Titanium Slave-1 has a clear plastic cockpit window whereas the Hot Wheels is just painted black since it's all one body piece. The only other factor is the packaging, while I do like the simple appeal of the black and red Titanium packaging I did note that some of the vehicles are partially hidden by its design whereas the Hot Wheels are sitting in a clear blister card bubble so you can see it all. Each line has its good and its not as good qualities but for a few small reasons I'm gonna say that I prefer the Hot Wheels ships.

Because two different companies are putting them out.

Mattel under the Hot Wheels brand had the rights to do branded Hot Wheel cars and did the "finger flyer" series of ships.

Hasbro, having the master license for Star Wars, brought back their Titanium and Micro Machine lines.

Hey, it's nice to have some choices. Plus you can even mix the three to get some semblance of scale; the Hot Wheel Ghost, the Titanium Falcon*, and the Micro Machine Outrider are all pretty close to being in proper scale with each other.

*Let's face it, the Falcon has more scale issues then Transformers in the fiction and always has. While the Titanium is too large for the official dimensions against the other two, it actually doesn't look out of place and the cockpits are all of similar size, which they should be.

I did a video comparison, but I don't want to buy the SAME ships...but I did use an older Titanium Jedi Interceptor for this video

Finally got some star wars figs found the silver trooper and decided to buy kylo and a new like because they have the build a weapon/robot pieces

jgawne 09-13-2015 04:39 PM

It's because if you can come up with any kind of variant, or size, or item, and you can pay for the license- then they'll sell it to you. Instead of collecting the different types of figures, it seems like now they expect people to collect all the different sizes of figures as well.

We're on page 66. A moment of silence for all fallen Jedi.

Or if you're pro Imperial this is a holiday occasion, like armistice day! :trooper

Yes. :trooper:trooper:vader:trooper:trooper

Speaking of the Empire and toys, I still don't get why people are so harsh on the black series 6" Darth Vader. Yes the helmet is clearly incorrect but it's also still obviously Vader. I was just digging through stuff on other sites and on YouTube and some people are super-critical of what is honestly a solid figure (I'd rate it 7 out of 10, not bad but not great either) by Hasbro.

Dr Kain 09-15-2015 04:52 PM

For me, I don't like the 6inch Vader because it looks like he has a giant diaper on and is about 400lbs of fat. I don't like cloth capes as it is, and the fact that everything on him is cloth just looks horrible to me.

Less cloth would've been great but I don't like the plastic capes for Vader because they look all action-y and in-movie his cape is always just hanging down, too much cloth though is exactly why I don't like the 6" Kylo Ren or especially the Emperor.

Autobot_Goldbug 09-15-2015 06:28 PM

I think wave 1 of the 3.75 inch series is going to peg-warm. :(

Trivial Psychic 09-15-2015 06:56 PM

I remember someone asking on one of the boards about the availability of these, and upon seeing them tonight, I thought I'd post some pics to let you know that they are out there if anyone is looking for them. No sign of the BB8 or the Chopper 2 pack...but I did think the Leia/Han two pack was kinda nice...the Leia in particular had some solid paints.

You know what, I'm starting to think Colorado forgot about the big Star Wars event because not only do my normal retail chains not have jack****, but I was in the Disney store today and they didn't even have any sort of display or anything for Star Wars. In fact, the only things they had were some iPhone cases (be nice if they would have some damn Galaxy cases for a change) in one area and then another spot with some backpacks that look like Chewbacca.
