I recall my mother brings up once in a blue moon, when she bought me the "black spider-man" and the " Pink Spider-man" ( baron Zemo ) back in the 80s when the original secret wars toys came out. that goes to show you people whom ARE NOT comic knowledgeable don't have a clue have to who alot of these guys are. i mean we all do but we're all fans and collectors of this series of toys.

I don't know man, I feel like for as ignorant as retailers are regarding comic books, even they should be looking at their shelves and going "You know? Hasbro has released a lot of Captain Americas this year. Maybe kids just don't need another one."

I mean, it's not like they or the kids pay much attention to the individual costumes and such of each figure the way we do. I do know that Hasbro likes to anchor each wave to an upcoming movie release though, so that probably plays into a bit too. I mean, after all, you can't really have a Spider-Man wave without Spider-Man in some shape or form, can you?

Definitely passing on Abomination. Looks worse than select and TB

He looks fine to me.

The Select one looks way too big and doesn't really have any articulation. The ToyBiz one looks mediocre to me.

I constantly look up there to see if i see any of the boxes because im familar with what they look like considering i order the newest spidey wave every year. however i have yet to ever find a new box of legends sitting atop that top shelf.

the walmarts near me..(and there are a lot of them) don't keep boxes on the top shelves...just loose product. They unbox things late a night and put them out. I HAVE opened a box, maybe a month ago that was out at like 12:00am..because i thought it may have been the civil war wave...but it was those damn Titan figures :mad1

lordbest 06-25-2016 10:00 PM

I might get Captain Britain if I can, but the rest don't appeal to me at all. Abomination looks ok except for the crotch piece which looks like it belongs on a different figure.

The Fwoosh photos are awful, especially given the ones that MarvelousNews just posted. Everyone looks pretty nice, though Simon's still pretty plain-looking.

Steve, though, is appealing, which is weird since I haven't yet had a need for a Cap in my collection.

Is that line actually popular? I couldn't see myself ever wanting one of those things even if I was younger lol

To be fair, I would have loved Marvel Mashers as a kid. I haven't bought any, but I can see kids having a lot of fun out of those.

Those 12 inch empty husks of figures with 5 POA and no accessories? Not so much. I'm pretty sure they're only around because they're big figures for cheap lol

Just a crappy picture of the figures we've gotten this year (technically, the ones from the Absorbing Man wave were purchased in 2015, but they didn't arrive until after the first of the year).

Amusingly, right after this, I snagged a great deal on a Mandroid-wave Baron Zemo. :D

warmachine6 06-26-2016 02:20 AM

Did a bit quick research cause it was bugging me , but Abomination works into to scale as Hulk is taller than him.
looked at the Marvel pages
Abomination may look better from the SDCC set, i think his shorts should be darker at least
also i can skip that scarlet witch she looks fairly different than the one we got shown at the NYTF collection
so huge meh
i think i might get just get Captain Britain and wonder-man those 2 i think are the best ones

Hi Tim, welcome to the Ark! I'm afraid I can't help you in that department, as I have neither Select nor Legends Ant-Man or Captain America (I'm assuming you means the MCU versions of both characters?) If you head over to YouTube, there might be some video reviews of the Select figures which compare them to their Legends counterparts, but since no-one else has replied to you yet I don't know if they can help either..
Hope that helps! :)

Very nice, Blunder! As much as we complain on here about lack of sculpted detail/quality of plastic, Hasbro have managed to bring out so many fantastic figures over the past year alone. I mean, we finally have a Misty Knight, for crying out loud.

SymbiSpidey 06-26-2016 05:37 AM

So it just occurred to me that that SDCC box set might be Masters of Evil themed.....ish. Don't know why Kilgrave is there though, to my knowledge, he's never been part of the group in any incarnation.

And I guess Spidey was thrown in as the obligatory hero character.

.

Thanks VonPooten. Yeah i was talking about MCU and i will check the reviews. Thanks agian for the response. Glad to have finally joined the ARK

Augustus_Cole 06-26-2016 07:16 AM

@ BB..I like the pic and like the posing. Nice group shot.

some notables:
- took me a moment to realize Morbius was behind Misty's fro
- Was wondering did Beetle have a flame effect until i realized Jack was behind her.
- I keep my Onslaught the exact same way
- I never knew until yesterday machine man's arms were bendable
- Just bought that Thor two days ago.
- Jack and Beetle are the only figs in that shot I don't have
- Vision looks somehow familiar

Agreed..I think some of the groups shots I've seen, like BB's, really show off this aspect

@Tim...welcome to the ark and hope you enjoy the community. With that being said..I don't like your AV pic..it's weirdin me out.

:offtopic
Does anyone collect wrestling figures..if so can you PM me..I have a few questions.

It's not the sculpt that irks me, the Abomination is supposed to be fugly, it's the height and girth. I think the problem that most people have with the Abomination figure is that he's smaller than even the current versions of the Hulk. A dilemma that portends scale issues with any forthcoming classic Hulk figure; any coming Hulk will likely be in the same scale, which stands in contrast to recent calls for a 'bigger than life' comic Hulk. Fluctuations in how the Abomination is depicted vary by artist and era, of course. However, traditionally speaking, Blonsky has been either as large or larger than Banner's gamma-spawned persona...not smaller.

This Abomination reminds me of the gray TB Hulk Classics Abomination, which also sported a decent sculpt with poor proportioning. I still find my Legends: Onslaught Abomination to be the most satisfying, with the exception of the lack of an ab-crunch.

You're right Von, there have been a great number of stellar figs in 2016. That said, I expected a dip in quality the minute Hasbro announced, "more legends in one year than ever before." Any product maker that intends to put out a significant amount more of it wares than previously enjoyed, runs the inevitable risk of a decrease in quality...especially if they don't increase the number of production facilities. Obviously, I have no clue what Hasbro's doing on the logistical side of things, but if I know anything about corporate business trends, I doubt they are ramping up money spent on Chinese manufacturing costs and labor. I think this might explain the head scratching duds that crop up from time to time (such as Simon et al). Although, over-all, I think they are doing a very good job considering the sheer number of releases. I'd be ok with 'less for more' though as far as quality is concerned...and my pockets lol

Captain Nash 06-26-2016 07:54 AM

To add to the comment about number of figures, if the rumored third Spider-Man and second X-men waves both hit before the year end, that would be a total of 9 waves released this year. That's just crazy! I mean in a mostly good way but rather expensive. And yes with that many waves it leads to characters being done more than once (though in different styles).

I just wonder if it'll be like this next year as well. If so I'm going to have to be more picky about what I purchase because 9 waves, plus exclusives from 3 packs, cons and various retailers, gets very expensive. I almost hate to say it because it sounds like I'm complaining, but I (I mean my wallet) would be happy with 6 waves of really great unique figures every year.

Of course I realize no one is forcing anyone to buy what they buy, but the option is there and it's hard to resist.

Dr Kain 06-26-2016 07:56 AM

Abomination is not always bigger than Hulk though.

TheBlueMarvel 06-26-2016 08:00 AM

Did I say that?

never saw an actual case of legends up top, however i always look to see if they're up there.

as far as titans and mashers go i definitely stay the hell away from them. i can see the appeal to kids considering the titans are big and cheapy like and they probably throw them around and just break them im sure, mashers look like toys made to expand a child's mind with toys.

However i must say i was very tempted the other day at grabbing a MINI masher, i saw. it was of anti-venom and i was so close to getting him but i said no, just can't do it. the price was right though, just 6.99

I've seen one or two i considered.(falcon)...and am glad when i walk away going... I DON'T NEED THAT.
On the topic of cool toys..I'm really liking the Aliens and Predator lines that i see. (things i look at when there are no Legends or Black Series figs i want to purchase in the store). I think that'd be a great line to own..LUCKILY i don't feel compelled to buy them.
On the topic of being in the store with nothing to buy....
I almost feel..RELIEVED..when there are no figures currently out that i "need" as i don't feel compelled to stop in every damn store I pass that stocks our plastic crack.
My huge wants over the past 2 or 3 months (Namor, Black Panther, Fury(s), Kanan, Ahsoka, Spider-Gwen) have all been met.....i can go..ahhhhhh....for a moment at least.

TheBlueMarvel 06-26-2016 08:20 AM

@Dark

HahahA! Because I am part Urkel? :o:D;)

I'm already a Predator collector, im awaiting the new wave of those as well. i think they should be out any day now.... those however are all hard to find and not alot stores carry those. i usually end up ordering them straight from Neca when i get those.

warmachine6 06-26-2016 08:46 AM

i think my focus of waves would be the x-men related waves maybe , got enough avenger figures really and not many x-men, x-related characters 13 soon to be 20 that is not including doubles
i think i might focus on getting 1 or 2 characters from some future waves with the exception of that dr strange wave.
then luke cage , elektra ,when they get released
and a fantastic 4 wave .. cmon hasbro we need a reboot , im stuck with those movie figures
but yeah if i were to choose i would go for the x-men mainly
