^ funny I made my son wait until after we saw the movie and right after posting that I broke out the super glue. We just opened it today and I almost feel the same lol

The director and producers are the ones you should question on those choices. This looks like it might be Bryan Singer's last X-Men film too, though he hasn't said as much, but he might be going back to the producer seat only on the next batch. Not sure. It's been implied before that once this trilogy was wrapped up, they were going to try a slightly more fresh approach with the next batch using the updated continuity.

So far the slate is looking like X-Men Apocalypse, Deadpool, Wolverine 3(using hues of old man logan), Gambit, X-Force, and New Mutants.

The question right now is if New Mutants will be the comic team, or the title they might use for the new wave of X-Men features. From what's been suggested, I'm kind of thinking if Apocalypse does well, we might see X-Men: Onslaught as the next direct X-Men feature. Not sure if Singer will be attached to it though. Really depends on how well Apocalypse does probably.

X-Force is still open for debate, no finalized script or direction yet. Gambit is still in the scripting stages. Wolverine 3 seems to be the furthest along out of the batch besides what's been filmed or is currently filming. With Fox, directors have a lot more creative freedom on the properties, so the choices really do fall back on them more than that company as opposed to say Marvel where they focus on making it all cohesive to the one aligned cinematic universe. Though with Marvel, some directors get some creative leeway like Shane Black did for Iron Man 3. Really depends on how the talks go when Marvel is picking a director and what they bring to the table.

So even if X-Men went back to Marvel, the question would be if they'd ditch the current creative film team, or keep them. If they keep them, then we'd be seeing the same movies and style even under Disney.

Almost everything I've ever read or seen says the complete opposite and that the directors get very frustrated and hate dealing with the studio, ESPECIALLY with fox:

Ok, we always put our hopes and dreams of which characters need to be made, but lets, for a moment explore the side of marvel that should be passed for toy traetment, I'll start.....

I like this idea. I know justice and gravitron have a lot of fans but I always found them both to be kinda lame. Same with dr Druid. Heck I would take a wizzer over these guys, I think I saw the legends guys are getting a wizzer.

Actually loved Ant-Man, a simple hero movie is soo refreshing after all those cosmic threats.

I also liked how they depicted Pym and how they tied him to the marvel movie verse.

Agreed they did him justice.

Yeah I can't see much after apocalypse what they could do. I can see them going the younger generation route as well for the X-Men, unless they did a total reboot or something. Like they continue to do with spider man.

Spoilers will not soil your occulars here, but I must say as a lonnnnnggggg time Marvel fan, they totally pulled off old Hank Pym & left the door open for period piece adventures ala Agent Carter and CATFA!!! The MCU continues to flesh out in perfect continuity & expand in all directions. Big banged we have been :P

With visuals beyond past flicks, Ant-man got me more hyped for a hopefully truly psychedelic Dr. Strange next year. The shrinkage got me ha... [ EDITED FOR YOUNGSTERS INNOCENCE AND PURITY ]

As someone who never considered buying the 3.75" Ant-man + Ant set, I am now strongly leaning towards doing so. The movie made me love Scott Lang and Antony. Anyone out theres have any pros or cons about the 2 pack?

agreed now I'll probably get the sdcc set of the antmans.

I hope the big ants get discounted quickly, I'd like to army-build them to make an EDF 2017 display with some Joes :)

If you do can I get yo Antmen? I'll be buggered if I pay the $15+ he's going for on eBay just for custom fodder.

If you just want the figure he's cheap enough. I didn't get the Ant, but now I've seen the film I want him.

IM3 Iron Patriot head and cannon, Mk 2 body. I think he turned out great if I say so myself.

War Machine is up for trade if anyone wants him, he was part of a 3-for-£10 thing at yesterday's Comic-Con with the Mk 2 and a Hypervelocity armour that's going to Iron Skull.

Kernel 07-19-2015 08:09 AM

^looks great jedirulz! I wish hasbro woulda made a good Rhodes iron patriot. I saw tv ads for those assembler figures but they did not sell too well here.

Last I heard from comic Rhodes, he's wearing the movie Iron Patriot armour, so we might get an MU/IM3 Iron Patriot at some point.

Where at? Cheapest I saw for just Ant-man was $15 and considering that the whole box is $20 that's way too much.

Edit: actually just saw one for $13.99. Such discount. Much dollar. Wow.

ukmu 07-19-2015 10:41 AM

The movie figure is less than £10 shipped and the box set goes for £25 here.
There the figure is $15 and the box set is $20.

I believe that is what he meant. Here in UK the figure alone makes sense, for you Ninj I am afraid you have four choices.

Spend $15 for a figure
Spend $20 for a figure and an ant you don't want
Wait and run the risk of not getting him IF he goes discount
Forget the idea altogether

Ah, my apologies. I was getting my British conversions wrong; we're selling the set for £25 in stores, and Ant Man alone is going for £9 on eBay. Of course this works out to be $14 for Ant Man and $39 for the set, but it seems like a saving for us.
Although £12 for the whole set in America is practically stealing; new MI over here costs the same as the whole set over there.

EDIT And then UKMU comes along and says everything I said while I was typing X'D

Ninjinister 07-19-2015 11:52 AM

Man, $39? That is some shit.

My local TRU had IM2, Thor, and Cap figs at full price still when Avengers figs first hit so I'm very skeptical of whether they'll ever discount Ant-Man here. It's such a tough choice and Lord knows I'm not made off money.
