Following the movie's highly successful release a bunch of fans who'd never heard of the team before wanted to read GotG comics so Marvel shook the team up and threw in central characters like Iron Man and Captain Marvel as like guest members of the team to attract more readers, eventually Agent Venom became a sorta-permanent member. The symbiote started freaking out after being in space for awhile and led the team to the "symbiote home world" where it was revealed that all symbiotes were actually intended to be peace keepers and agents of good. The "true symbiotes" restored/neutered Venom and so he became space knight Venom (ROM!). It kinda goes without saying that every longtime Venom fan was pretty pissed with this whole deal since it turned our gnarly toothed monster into something like modern DC's Blue Beetle. No surprise this entire mess was written by Bendis.

However, there are a few of us who were never fans of Venom who actually like Agent Venom and Space Knight Venom. I personally preferred Agent to Space Knight and both to Brock. As a fan of Nova though, I can also relate to Brock Venom fans on their feelings of him being Bendis-ified.

Marvel needs to get rid of bendis and such. Hes really cocking up marvel and turning into dc nu 52. Send that sack to comico or whoever makes power rangers. :) bendis is to comics what ewe bowl is to movies and penthouse forum is to pulitizer prize winning books. ;)

Boy Blunder 07-08-2016 05:48 PM

Man, once again we see why we need to just not talk about Bendis. People get REALLY passionate.

You ain't seen nothing yet, get me started on the writer of Uncanny X-Men I now refer to as "He Who Shall Not Be Named"...THAT'S some passionate dislike there.

Realizing how vague that was, I will just refer you to "The Draco" storyline as an example.

Riddick 07-08-2016 05:52 PM

Bendis ruins everything he gets his hands own. Despise that hack.

Well after what he did to nova and ultimate parker and iceman....hes got my ire more than leifield AND romita junior combined. At least leifield gave us deadpool.....even if he did have weird feet for years haha. ;)

Captain Nash 07-08-2016 05:59 PM

Bendis doesn't so much ruin everything he writes as he writes almost everyone but his star character or two the same. Everyone else has the same voice. He's got some REALLY great starting ideas, and usually his runs have started out extremely well (the first arc of ANXM? New Avengers? but everything just fizzes out and turns into a big blob of nothing at the end. My actual main gripe with Bendis is his total disregard of continuity.

But all that pales during the 2001-2004 period where every month I just asked myself WTF did I just read and why do I still read it if only to torture myself because everything was horrible. Every idea. Every characterization. Nothing good came of that run, because whatever good was created in that run was destroyed by the end of it.

At least a big bunch of bland nothing is better than a big unsightly mess of a stain on what was once the flagship Marvel title.

Harbinger 07-08-2016 06:02 PM

I thought for sure you'd add more underboob. :p I like the line ups though. You get points for mentioning Superia. I thought I was the only one who cared..... :o

Ha ha ha. Ooooh, boy. People haven't seen anything "bad" until they've read his work.

Destiny will always be Nightcrawler's mum. Mystique will always be his dad/other mother. To me, Azazel is an insane red splodge, nothing more.

I assume you're still talking about "that" guy? If so, yes. Yes.

As for Bendis, completely agree. I think it's very easy to just disregard him, and yes nobody asked for his take on the Guardians, but the man has some brilliant ideas. They just tend to get... derailed. Fast.

In conclusion, all writers are capable of good and bad. Morrison revitalised the X-brand, but he was also responsible for Glob Herman and Ernst.

oh no! If we're doing an underboob set then that is where we must place Selene and Morgan Le Fay. Because they're just not happening otherwise. But yeah classic White Queen...that was some very risque stuff going on there.

Better that than TRU.

Speaking of which, I think someone found the TRU 3 pack like a week ago? But has anyone else found it? I need that Kate Bishop and Falcap so bad.

Harbinger 07-08-2016 07:11 PM

Nash you're welcome to falcap should i find it. I want him back as falcon so i have no need of the fig.

Tim 07-08-2016 07:14 PM

I would also recommend the Frighteners. It's got Michael J Fox and it's directed by freaking Peter Jackson.

I was kinda okay with Agent Venom after awhile, I liked the struggle he had controlling the beast within.

Marvel, bring back the real Nova!

Thanks that's really awesome. But I will probably decline as I do want the entire 3 pack, maybe someone else just wants Falcap though. I really do appreciate it!

To be quite honest, I'm not too keen on this image here.... While not trying to turn this in a whole debate, which i won't and Darktoylord you know we are definitely cool. i'll just leave it as Not my cup of tea and i find it very distasteful.
