I still have the head and I believe right arm of Ares and unfortunately, I'll never be able to build him.

Ditto, except I like Morrison's run okay. To me it was just so different, it really felt like this huge change from what came before. The Eve Of Destruction storyline was what really felt like, to me, the end of the "classic X-men" feeling, and while I liked some of what Morrison did, there were definitely aspects that I did not like. I felt he was trying to push this too "trendy realistic/trendy statements" vibe, and sometimes it worked and sometimes it did not. Loved the reveal at the start of Planet X but it ultimately ended in such a way that it's up there as one of my least favorite storylines. Still, it was better the UXM at the time though thank goodness we had X-Treme X-Men!

You hit the nail on the head. Morrison gave some wonderful ideas to the X-Men mythos (Cassandra Nova, The Stepford Cuckoos, Emma and Scott, the return of the Shi'ar), but he was too insistent on the mutant culture becoming a dominant, trendy one. Ultimately, it was a thread that lead nowhere in his run, only to be eradicated as soon as he left. If there's one status quo that shall remain above all else, it's that the X-Men are the underdogs. No writer has messed with that formula and made it stick!

X-Treme X-Men was a combination of all the best bits of each era. Family dynamics, great characters, alien invasions, the Hellfire Club, and X-TREME COSTUMES..

BTW, out of curiosity, which Wolverine costume do you prefers, the brown or the yellow?

Unfortunately, it's canon. I would never recommend it, but the storyline Nash referred to, "The Draco," surrounded Azazel's attempt to get from Hell to Earth by impregnating women... on Earth... to get to Earth.

As for Wolverine, the brown suit for certain. When I think of Logan, it's of him in the brown/tan suit chomping a cigar in a dingy pub.

Funny fact: even though John Byrne is well known for depicting Logan in his yellow costume, he was the one who put him in the brown. Years later, Jim Lee gave Wolvie back his yellow duds and excitedly told Byrne that he was inspired by his work. Byrne insulted Lee and said he hated the yellow suit.

Oh and, Kain, how are you liking DoFP? Glad to hear you enjoyed the Dark Phoenix Saga!

Hopefully they'll release another. I have the original, which is a great figure (even better given my affection for the character), but he is outdated. He can't stand very well without an ankle pivot, for one thing.

Yeah me too he is a cool looking figure and i like his character I don't think he is worth the amount of money they are asking

I saw the wave alot but only saw Crossbones twice though. Knowing what I do now I would have built 3 or 4 of him just to Trade or sell LOL

Got my prize from Entertainment Earth this week- the Civil War 3 pack! Spidey's my new desk buddy XD. At night I put him back on my shelf, which is an MCU Avengers vs Spider-verse display. So far the Spiders outnumber the Avengers (as I'm trying to get the Figuarts of the ones released). Hoping to find Marvel Legends Falcon and Scarlet Witch when they hit stateside >_<. And then grab the 4 Spiders and Space Venom from their wave. Out of the X-Men, Deadpool, Wolverine and Rogue interested me initially, but after watching Deadpool's reviews, I'm just gonna stick to hunting for Wolverine and Rogue when they're out.

The biggest parts of the problem in completing Ares is in obtaining the legs and torso, which come from three of the rarer Marvel Legends figures out there in Vision, Crossbones, and Kang.

That said, a lot of people were able to make pretty decent customs of Ares once the Allfather wave came out, as the legs and body of that figure made for a suitable replacement, along with the help of several people who began putting out casts of the helmet and weapons. If you look around various custom forums, you'll see some pretty decent ones out there.

Screw Ares though...with hindsight, if there was one character I would have built knowing what I know now...it would have been Ronin. That wave LANGUISHED on my local Walmart shelves for almost a year.

Eh...looks a little too much like something out of Destiny for my tastes. On the bright side, it shows just how versatile that Demolition Man body is.

I have seen some of those customs the look pretty good. I have never even seen a figure from the Ronan wave at retail.

Augustus_Cole 07-09-2016 02:06 PM

i like the black robe....anyone know where that's from?

Captain Nash 07-09-2016 02:19 PM

My X-Men wave arrived today. Pleasant surprise that I didn't pick up on, Rogue has an extra un-gloved hand as a pack in which is really cool

Love all the figures, my only gripe about the entire wave is on Juggernaut, I really wish his hands were not just a molded fist, that we had the fingers that could move like back in the TB days. It's not so obvious on non-BAF, but in this case it's very much apparent.

Dr Kain 07-09-2016 02:28 PM

Finally got this guy today:

http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps29pg4tci.jpg

My Walgreens had 20 of him and only two of them didn't have some type of screw up on their face.

I heard about that and I find that hilarious. I'm torn on which costume I like more. I've pretty much grew up on him in the yellow costume, and that is his original. On the other hand, the brown one is more natural looking in its earthly tones.

I've only read the first issue of DoFP so far, which was just summarizing what has happened throughout the series thus far. I'll let you know when I read more as right now I'm finishing The Return of the Sinister Six six issue arc from the newest Spidey Epic Collection.

That $#&! is SO mine for that price. Hell, even twice that price if I can't snag it through HTS.

Marvelous News has some high res pics, I can't tell if Purple Man's head is new or a repaint

Looking at it now, I think it's either a Punisher repaint or brand new. He looks a little David Tennant-y

Edit: Enchantress looks AH-MAZING.

Yes she does

warmachine6 07-09-2016 03:05 PM

oeh SDCC set new images , hmmm
purple man, enchantress, & spider-man all look good

okay hasbro you made dread-knight now gimme black knight, looks nice just not really a fan of the character

Abomination does look better than the cap wave one though the cap wave would be easier to get. Hmmm if one of stores i know can get i will but its slim chance for us uk collectors.

EDITs, I have a horrible feeling enchantress may get re-released... I forgot to mention that Sandman seems a bit lacking , though if Hasbros idea would be release him again at his normal skin tone, with swap-able parts that can be added to this version that would be cool but unlikely

further edit , can anyone please get me a set ?
