Second tentacle, some blast effects and I’ll be beyond happy.

dukefett 07-13-2020 11:27 AM

Really could care less about the extra figures. I would've hoped for more Sentinel parts. I like the battle damaged parts so far, but a replaceable leg or arm panel or something. Claw marks? Stuff like that. And they should just add in another tentacle.

Harbinger 07-13-2020 11:57 AM

Ha! I totally called it

Same here.

goliathfasa 07-13-2020 12:15 PM

These Bastion figures are going to pop up on ebay the second these orders get sent out.

A failed Haslab project, it was going to be a life-sized recreation of the puppet with an articulated skeleton underneath. It didn't hit its first goal and they didn't extend the campaign like they did for Unicron. I found it highly amusing that some people reacted to its existence like it was taking the place of an alternative project that would therefor never see the light of day as if Haslab employs a "one or the other" mentality.

Augustus10 07-13-2020 01:28 PM

Unicron was interesting... bcs they missed the deadline and then decided they were going to make it regardless and kept the campaign running until the minimum PO was met.

I've heard rumors that Unicron plays a major part at some point in the Netflix War For Cybertron series that starts soon.

Ooooooooooooooooooookay. I probably would have been against it not because it is taking some other project away, but it just seems so random for Hasbro to do some Sesame Street thing. Have they done anything else for that franchise before?

Augustus10 07-13-2020 02:23 PM

At the time I was 80/20 against the Jabba Sail Barge, bcs I dont really have a vast 3.75 SW collection and would be a random piece that takes up a lot of real estate... but now I am like 50/50 on whether I should have backed it or not. It really is the only toy I know that got released and immediately doubled in value. Most toys depreciate a lot and take years and a lot of luck to even maintain their value, let alone increase in value. But I predict the Sail Barge becoming a Grail collector piece in a few decades and being worth A LOT of money.

Obviously collecting toys as an investment is stupid... but that is one of the rare instances where you could actually double your money and the price is only going to continue to climb... unless Disney complete destroys the SW franchise... which they kinda already have... so who knows mb I am wrong.... like I said 50/50 on the woulda/shoulda/coulda

They had the numbers for Unicron they just needed more time to coordinate all of the 3P vendor orders and orders from TakaraTomy, not to mention he cost quite a bit more than even the Sail barge. But in the end he greatly exceeded the needed amount when it was all said and done.

Still, I don't think it was a particularly well run campaign on Hasbro's part, and I think Hasbro learned a lot from it given how much better operated the Sentinel campaign has been.

I always wondered... is anyone actually buying the Sail Barge on the secondary market though? And I think years from now the people collecting 3.75" SW will be less... not more. IMO the Jabba Sail Barge is just not iconic enough for someone to spend a small fortune on it.

Shipping alone is crazy high to, which I suspect Unicron and Sentinel will be as well due to the size...But people do pay it. I wish I didn't miss out on Unicron myself.

Didn't realize that Hasbro owns the rights to Seasemee Street, I saw the mention of Cookie Monster failing, but didn't really realize it was actually that haha.

I feel this thing should have some with two tentacles as a default so hopefully they put it in. Some blast effects or a shield would be cool but I think the shield is a fairly new things. Maybe some "mutant target" clear cards or something.

It's almost like Doomtron got reincarnated.

Hasbro owns Playskool (it's a subsidiary of Hasbro) and Playskool has made Sesame Street products, so then it stands to reason that Hasbro has access to the license. I think the main reason that project failed to meet its goal was really just because if you want a good Cookie Monster there are already some nice sizeable plush options out there.

Just looked it up, yeah $300.00 for a plushie is a bit much...considering it probably doesn't cost that much to make it since it's a plushie...

Even factoring that it was going to be large and feature a fully articulated metal "skeleton" frame it was still an expensive pill to swallow when significantly cheaper alternatives exist.

Yeah, this confuses me. Why do they look so small there, but then so big in other pages?

Straight up! That's the Sentinel design I've been waiting for. I halfway expected this to be what we were going to be getting from Haslab, but I wasn't surprised to see a more modern take on the Mutant Hunting Robot.
If it was the John Byrne design, I'd have been in for 3 or 4, but since it is a modern design I'll probably sit this one out and wait to see what the next Star Wars Haslab project will be (hopefully it won't be a boring Sandcrawler).

The Sentinels are only supposed to be 20 feet tall.

*Edit* Actually may already have beaten Todd. I have heard conflicting reports about whether 1 backer = 1 unit sold or 1 backer = 1-5 units sold.

Has HasLab clarified 1 backer = ? yet?

The number you see on the site is units, not backers.

So the new Hasbro figure is right then.

Someone said they base their Sentinel height on the cartoon series and you know what, that is probably the best way to go about it.

ShabbyBlue 07-14-2020 08:34 AM

Past 10,000 now but so far no indication if they plan to offer anymore Tier rewards. It wouldn't cost them any additional tooling to simply throw in an extra tentacle with every Sentinal. That's the least they can do for how far this thing has surged. :(

I think including an extra figure, two extra heads and a hand are the least they can do, and they've already done that...

Thor Laserpunch 07-14-2020 08:55 AM

Entitled punk kids smdh...

They may not have been prepared for this many backers and had to review options for further tier incentives. Even as it is now, the deal is pretty damn impressive.

Seriously, each time they reveal a new add-on I see people going "is that it?", do you guys want another Sentinel thrown in for free?
