HE'S BANE!

No? Doesn't quite work like it does for Batman, I guess. Lol.

ashketch 07-23-2012 03:10 PM

I paid attention friend, it was a mere days before detonation when batman escaped. All the dialogue backed it up it was within 2 days.

And I do understand that yes I was nit picking but all the little details matter just as much as the big ones do. Regardless if u believe this movie or avengers was better, the numbers don't lie. Avengers had higher ratings and earnings. I love batman but this was a little underwhelming.

Lol, there isn't one. Another detail they deliberately left out.

TheSymbiote 07-23-2012 04:06 PM

Actually, Nolan had originally planned on doing a sequel with the Joker at the center again. He was working on the details when Ledger died and had to go in a completely different direction. I guess Bane and his army made the most sense to him.

Again, its things like this that make me cringe when fans say Nolan's Batman films are based on realism. I think Nolan wants to give it an authentic feel to bring the audience into this world, and the lack of a Lazarus out to bring Ra's from the dead makes it less of a comic feel too I suppose. But its clearly more of a film based on a comic book character than a comic book movie to me. If that makes any sense.

I still like it though.

I like to believe that the Lazarus Pit still exists somewhere and Ra's is once again biding his time in the shadows even though that doesn't really make sense. Too much to explain if they actually brought the character back I guess. Although the Lazarus Pit would have been a better explanation for healing Bruce's back than time and a punch. If they could have just left out the line about his vertebrae protruding from his back it would have been easy to accept that all Bruce needed was a few months rest and rehab.

Best super hero movie ever. I don't even like DC. Yes it's better than all marvel movies. No corny stuff.

DogFashionDisco 07-23-2012 11:53 PM

The explanation wasn't clear at all. I'd go with the deformity angle, I mean he was beaten, then a drug addicted doctor worked on his face with what I'd assume were shitty tools found in an underground prison. He said something like, "No one cared who I was until I put on the mask", which makes me think he was extremely deformed, and when he put on the mask it gave him back his confidence and he became an intimidating Austrian bad ass. Does that sound right? By the way, I keep joking about his awesome lines in the film, and I can't mimic that accent.

It's a fair interpretation. I guess we can all make of it what we want since it wasn't covered in the movie.

I loved that line!

I really did love Bane in this movie. I just wanted a little more back story on his character.

Because people like to be spoon fed every little detail. They are too lazy to think for themselves. It's like in Prometheus when people were asking why David infected the one scientiest, when the conversation they have answers that question right then and there.

Oh, well sorry, I have seen the movie twice and I was enjoying the movie too much to care about any flaws or nitpicks.

I enjoyed the movie too. People assume, that just because people critique flaws that it implies we didn't like the movie. If you want to hear that the movie was flawless its just not gonna happen. There were plenty of flaws in the avengers but I watched it 3 times.

If something really sticks out in a movie that bothers me I want to discuss it. I also discussed things i enjoyed about the movie in my earlier posts but no one seems to want to quote me on that and discuss in detail.

So far the majority of responses to people pointing out flaws have been fanboy responses defending Batman and Nolan religiously rather than assess its film merit qualitatively.

I agree. I was really hoping for some sort of Lazarus pit reference at the very least. I think it might have convoluted the story too much though in the context of Nolan's Batman world , but who knows.

Why even go see the movie? Just use your mind.

CMIII 07-24-2012 12:01 PM

I did see the movie and loved it I would say it was infact better then the Previous I am going to predict that there will be a 4th but it will focus on JGL and a Certain Little Bird. My biggest problem was th Teasers and Trailers the movie is 2:45 plus 15 mins of Trailer and Teasers and really would have just done the Wizard of Oz and Man of Steel after the 4th I was going Oh for Crying out loud

my point exactly, ive already expressed the movie was good but everything I point out seems like an attack on the movie to the fanboys. I would just love a thoughtful response with some content behind it. A normal discussion if you will.

M3T4L V1KING 07-24-2012 07:10 PM

Tiberius and I just the movie. Loved it. Just sayin'

Also, the whole Bane's mask thing;

Apparently he was always in so much pain, that the mask is used as an inhaler of some pain killer stuff. Makes him feel numb I guess. At least that's what DC wiki says... makes more sense in their words:

SPOILERS:

The inmates severely beat Bane and left him near death. The prison doctor saved his life, but as a result of his beating Bane was left in a state of constant agony. Bane was later freed from the prison by Ra's al Ghul and became a member of the League of Shadows along with Talia. He began using a mask that supplied him with analgesic gas to dull the pain.

I thought Ra's al Ghul saw bane as an Abomination and cast him out of the league of shadows, according to Talia's revelation when she stabbed Batman?

Tiberius 07-24-2012 07:54 PM

He did, after what he saw what Bane truly was.

TheSymbiote 07-24-2012 08:13 PM

We just saw the movie a second time, this time in IMAX.

And after we saw it the first time we stayed until the credits and we noticed that Cillian Murphy was in the movie. We didn't remember him being in the movie, with the reason being that we FELL ASLEEP without realizing it.
So now after watching it a second time we saw that we fell asleep just before that first guy walks out on the ice and just before Bane and Batman start fighting in the street! lol we blame insomnia

and was Bane's relationship with Talia like a brother/sister relationship or romantic?

Tiberius 07-24-2012 08:22 PM

Seems like a Brother/Sister thing. To me anyways.

As for Bane and his mask, League of Shadows I am just going to post the whole article:

What I would like to see is a 1shot comic of the exact Origins of Bane.

They probably wouldn't do the origin of Bane because even in the comics, he's a mystery

That is FKN AMAZING!

Moving and Inspiring for him to do that! Bale, what a man!

jmbill 07-25-2012 03:57 AM

There are plenty of elements that made this film work, so I suppose we can tick them off one by one. For starters, the continuation on the focus of Bruce Wayne's story, which has made it all tick. This version of Bruce Wayne and Alfred become the familiar characters we're accustomed with since 2005, and the film invests heavily on the emotional bonding between the two, which deals back to the theme about fear that rears its ugly head again, and how a father figure cannot stand idly by to watch the one he brought up recklessly charge into battle after a long hiatus, and hoping for a life of normalcy with the mantle of the bat given up. Michael Caine may have a shorter screen time than before, but no less powerful
