Damn, that seahorse is pretty awesome. I skipped Manta in the last movie releases, gotta say he too is pretty tempting.

StudioOneTwelve 09-15-2023 09:46 AM

Seems odd with all the focus on Orm and Arthur in the trailer to skip an Orm figure altogether.

Orm looks like a dude in a casual outfit, so that's probably why.

McFarlane kinda seems to be a doing a bare minimum for the movie lines anyway. Remember Fury of the Gods and it's entire two character releases, both mostly reuses? Blue Beetle with what - three figures?

ThorOdinson123 09-15-2023 10:04 AM

One of the figures comes with the Black Trident so buy him and get it for Manta

Prolly cuz Fury was trash. I liked it..But I still know when I'm watching trash.

Zorn88 09-15-2023 11:12 AM

I'll likely only pickup Storm and put my Mafex Aquaman on it. That one looks great.

But I'm pretty disappointed about Manta though. No fist hands (but don't worry, we got a trigger finger hand), no trident, and the blue paint seems splotchy and inconsistent.

Also Mcfarlane just cannot get Momoa's likeness right.

snake5289 09-15-2023 11:19 AM

So why does the normal Aquaman have shoulder pads? They look awful.

To be fair, he can't seem to get any likeness right.

Look at that abomination that is The Flash Supergirl. Then again, the Hot Toys one look horrid too.

Yeah, I would mostly agree. Though I will say that Shazam and Black Adam had pretty good likeness

Creative liberty, it would seem. And yes, it looks awful.

User897 09-15-2023 12:53 PM

I'm glad I don't collect Aquaman. Knowing the movie will be shit is one thing, but these figures? They are a whole new level of craptastic.

Zigerlion 09-15-2023 01:19 PM

Huh? What's that octopus with Aquaman, I thought he's into dolphins? I guess no one can resist the Octopussy?

After watching The Boys I hope Aquaman's intentions with Topo are pure.

Finally managed to crack open my Batman 6-pack (this packaging is a next-level chore when you've got an injured hand) and I'm loving it. There are caveats to be sure, but the overall presentation is great.

Interestingly, '89 is totally different than the one included with the Batmobile, it's not just the bat logo. It has a much warmer shade of gold on the belt/flesh on the face, and the mold looks to have been resurfaced or something, because the body has lost most of its sheen and the thighs and torso are a much much much better match for the rubbery briefs. I think somewhere in the middle would've been the most accurate, but I'll take the consistency as a win. I can always buff a sheen onto the figure anyway, right?

Bizarrely, the movie-specific details of the Kilmer and Clooney suits have been tooled in instead of being separate. I want to know what bean-counter proudly stated that they managed to shave a couple grand off the molds before being told they just cost the company like 60 grand due to the re-use loss.

And most of my collection is boxed up for a move but some stuff was still accessible...

"I'm shocked McFarlane Toys isn't making Mera or Queen Atlanna," he said sarcastically.

I hope todd makes a trench warrior. Those were some wicked lookin suckers.

It kind of makes sense. Those torsos wouldn't really work with any other figures. What other Batsuits use the massive full chest logo or have nipples? Those are pretty specific details.

Same here!

Despite all these technological developments and many batman suit designs today, the costumes of the old movies are still magnificent and it is an indication of how carefully they were worked in the old years.

Comedian 09-18-2023 03:44 PM

Just had to share, I just received the Batman 6-pack and the Nicholas Cage Superman head. I’m beyond excited that we are closer than ever of a DC film collection all in the same scale.

Well when you put it like that... It's cool seeing it all together.

When will you open a topic to showcase your collection in the Collection Showcase section? It would be great to be able to see this extensive collection in more detail. :)

Here is what the Flashpoint Cyborg BAF looks like once you get the head from Wonder Woman late October

The details are the problem; the base armors in both movies were pulled from the same molds but they were accessorized in different ways, and those differences are permanently tooled into the suits so that they can't be used for each other. They could and should have about 80% identical tooling between Clooney/Kilmer Panthers and Sonar/Ice suits, and instead it's like 30%. And it wouldn't have added any extra money now to save themselves money in the future: the buckles could have been attached to the already separate belts, Clooney's chest logo could have been attached to the cowl so Kilmer's could be plugged in later, etc..

They simplified the gloves enough that all three are sporting the same hands (farewell, '89 palm studs) but then give K&C differently detailed lower arm sculpts to represent... the exact same gloves.

I guess I'm just fiending hard enough for Burton/Schumacher stuff from McF that I'm worried about inefficiencies like this potentially hurting profitability of those waves. It's money that could be going to actor likenesses or something.

Or be thrown at a Forever Batmobile? If you're gonna dream, dream big!
