I can appreciate that. Collecting figs in one particular fashion is a way to naturally cap an expensive hobby. Also, there's a method to collecting loose that takes some time to cultivate; quality of pictures, responsiveness of seller in fielding questions, rating/trustworthiness of vendor, steering clear of KO's presented as authentic products, etc...However, if used selectively, you may be able to score that older fig you covet at a fraction of the cost.

So true. Much of my time on ebay, say 1999-2001 was spent mainly collecting the various Marvel figures from the 90's and some star wars figures. The quality on those figures was generally not as high so I wasn't quite as worried, but even then, I was generally hesitant to purchase loose. Also that was when I got into debt trouble because I was spending like am I spending now, but I wasn't making nearly as much money. I just worry I'll end up spending even more if I start it again. :p

Of course I realize that if I don't get an SDCC set period, either through HTS or third party on amazon, I'll end up having to at least get Enchantress through Ebay, but I think as a one time-exclusive purchase like that I could control it.

Run!!!! Go to your local Walmart store now!!! I got a tip that Falcon and WS have arrived!!! A friend hid one of each for me somewhere in the store...It's the furthest one from my house but I'm on my way!!! Panic and run!!!

Didn't see any in the two Walmart stores I was at this morning. No Suicide Squad, no Giant Man wave. Just endless Speed Demon's, Beetles,Jack O'Lanterns, Whirlwinds, Misty Knight's,and Hellcat's.

richaveli83 07-14-2016 08:37 AM

Take this with a HUGE GRAIN OF SALT. Marvel legends Wikipedia page has a second X-Men wave labeled as Master Mold supposed to be released in September. Again HUGE GRAIN OF SALT.

Captain Nash 07-14-2016 08:39 AM

I forgot to mention I went out on a store run last night. Same old figures on the shelves. I would call it disappointment but that would indicate I was expecting something - more like apathy and acceptance. I am so sick of seeing the Thanos and Odin figures. And I think the Absorbing Man wave is going to be just as bad.

And still no Vision/Hawkeye/Falcap figure. And it's not even in TRU system that I can tell. W.T.F....guys...I want to buy your exclusive but am unable to because you can't seem to get around to ever ordering it! Losing money here.

And this one walmart, has this one sad torn up packaging Boomerang figure. I have picked him up and put him down several times in the last year. I almost feel bad for the schulp.

Mastermold would be interesting. TBH never really thought about him being a BAF. Would they want us to buy TWO of each figure to complete him? He needs to be...REALLY big.

No way that wave is coming for September though. That's just not enough marketing/hype time. November is more likely I'd say take several grains of salt. At least until after SDCC.

We might find out at SDCC if this is true. I would love it. But like Nash said, he'd have to be HUGE! Much bigger than a Sentinel. Unless they just do the big head on spider legs, which would kind of really suck.

I'm dying for that pack too! I hope it doesn't become some hard to find exclusive.

Well...I'm here and I can't find crap!! Maybe you're right and there's nothing (I did find flag, bat and deadshot though). This dude might have pulled a prank on me. He's not answering him phone. Hope I'm just not looking in the right place where they're supposed to be.

That would suck if he was messing with you. I was at my Walmart yesterday and they Didn't have these at all but they did have the giant man wave though all of them there except Nick fury but I don't have to worry about finding Nick fury anymore thanks to Updog he let me know he had an extra and it's on it's way to me.

If it is Mastermold, it would probably be a busted up head like on X-Men The Animated Series. I've seen Nimrod rumored which is far more likely than Mastermold.

With all of this talk about future X-Men waves and the Juggernaut wave arriving in the mail today, I'm wishing I had never sold my Marvel Universe Sentinel. Bummer :(

Now Nimrod is absolutely a BAF I can get behind! Not one I want as much as Shadow King or Sauron but he's definitely up there in terms of BAF. Mastermold is so far down he wasn't even on the radar until today LOL.

Starlord67 07-14-2016 09:47 AM

Nimrod as a BAF... ABSOLUTELY!

Reeeeeally. Well that's interesting. I know that was kind of hinted at but I didn't think they'd do it so close to the SDCC Exclusive, as I really feel like she is the "big draw" of that set.

Agh. Augh. Now I don't know what I'll do. Still kind of want Purple Man. I guess if this is true I'll try my best for the set and then if I can't get it just go for this.

But this is very very good news for those who want her. She deserves to be mass retail. I just think its' really odd that it's right on the heels of the exclusive.

Edit to note someone removed the Mastermold reference on the wiki page. it never had a source reference so I am now wondering if that was just someone being wishful or not. It would be a really odd choice for a BAF, unless they worked it in over two waves, which is not likely with X-waves set so far apart. Who wants to take a year between halfway finishing a BAF and the next.

305Batman 07-14-2016 10:42 AM

I am always flabbergasted at what some people are willing to pay for an action figure, there are Juggy wave Wolverines going for almost $100 and those are bids not BINs,maybe it's just me but I could never pay that much, most I think I've ever paid for a figure was around $50 for a Mecha Hulk a few years back.

Yeah $50 is the most I would pay for an action figure thats only if i really wanted it. They most i paid was $40 and that was for Dc universe plastic man in package on ebay.

Abomination's BAF is hitting pretty close to the exclusive release too, and there are folks convinced Sandman will be the Spidey BAF. With her potentially being slotted into the Dr. Strange wave, it makes me think Angela is going to be in a new Guardians wave and we might not see a Thor wave

I know my most expensive single figure was $90 (with shipping I think) for my TB Juggernaut. I have paid $50 or so a handful of times, but honestly I try to keep all ML purchases around $40 before shipping even then I try to wait til it gets closer to MSRP. The $40 mark is for super-rare figure I want or figures I really want badly.

I will be paying that $100 for Enchantress though if it turns out it's the only way to get her, ie., if that Dr. Strange rumor is wrong and I can't snag a set as a whole. My only other figure I want that much will come in a wave so not a problem.

Beyond that, I could see figures in my top 20 or so wanted hitting that $40 mark but otherwise I'm good to wait until they're at least around $25 prior to shipping and tax.

I should add with exclusive sets, yeah I've padi $200 twice now (the Thunderbolts and Thanos Engine sets) for 5 figues, so that's like $40 a figure, but those are exclusives and there's really no way around that once you've missed the initial sale.

But..but...what wave is Dreadknight gonna be in? :D

Yeah i know, the chances of him being done non-exclusive are rare. I would pay the $20 for him but I understand he wouldn't be a huge draw. Purple Man is...not marketable, sadly. As someone else mentioned, he's really a horrible character in the sense of being just evil. Right up there with Selene and Red Skull, Marvel's Trinity of Unrepentant Vileness.

Isn't enchantress your favorite Character? Only guessing from your avatar. I would also pay over $100 for a Flash figure if ithe only way to get him was in a Sdcc pack with like batman and they others (flash is my fav character) or A scorpion pack and the only way to get him was a Sdcc pack

Nah, Enchantress is nowhere near my favorite character but she is my #2 most wanted Marvel Legend. The avatar is Polaris, my #1 most wanted Marvel Legend, who does happen to be one of my favorite characters. My favorite character is actually Psylocke, but she has a Marvel Legend.

I just updated the avatar to show my support for 'Po to get made. Once that's done i'll update again. Although after so long of being on the Po-train, saying that "Firestar and Justice" are my most wanted Legends just doesn't have the same ring to it. :p

O The avatar is kinda small on my phone so it looked kinda like Enchantress. That Pyslocke was so hard to come by she was only available in the x force pack. right?
