Excellent work and can't wait to see the whole set-up...

As always, TBM, thank you very much for the kind words! The power burst is a lovely effect, but given it's singular use, it gets a tad boring. Now the two, smaller ripples of energy that it comes with? Far more interesting. As you can see, I'm having a good time using insulation wool and styrofoam to make displays a bit more involved. It's useful (see Voodoo "mysteriously" floating), and great fun to play around with.

Clean-up is a pain in the arse, though.

Have you ever considered going further in the debris department, BM? I find a few scattered pieces of "concrete" really help the Tamashii effects blend in, and it could add a lot of potential to new set-ups!

Cheers mate! I reckon I'll keep him like this, since ol' Schmidt's face is starting to grow on me. Do you think you'll switch his head?

Riddick 07-17-2016 05:33 AM

So many X-Men replaced and put on the extra Legend shelf.

How many of you are preordering the X figures from TRU? Do they take payment immediately or hold off like bbts and dorkside?

I vacillate on dioramas and the accent pieces that compliment them. On one hand, it's obvious how much they add to figure displays by assisting the viewer to make that leap from 'shelf' to 'comic panel.' Done well, they look fantastic. On the other hand there are only so many scenarios in which any one diorama is going to work, a fact that feels a bit limiting. Once that realization is made, the need for more dioramas soon follows...and I simply don't have the space nor funds to add diorama collecting to my hobby. One day, I'll get that stuff. For now, I'm just having fun practicing.

I do like your suggestion, it matches my minimalist approach to displays and would not detract too much from the figures themselves or their poses/motion...these are the most important aspects to be celebrated when I throw a display together. I like to explore, on strength of pose alone, whether I can bridge that gap between the aforementioned 'shelf' and 'panel.' Sometimes I'm successful, other times I'm not. But when I've done it, I feel a satisfying sense of accomplishment. At times, I feel like dios can function as a crutch, but that's partly because I'm jealous that I don't have any!:p

So which is actually better, the BAF Legends Sentinel or the Universe Sentinel Hasbro did? I think Hasbro's Universe Galactus is better than the Legends Galactus because he is bigger, which is strange since you would think the 6inch line Galactus would be bigger than the 4 inch line one, but that is the not the case. Is it the same for the Sentinel?

I LOVE the toy biz Sentinel, that is why I have 9 of them. I like the more dark colors and the more "real" look they have. I felt that the Hasbro sentinel felt a little more "cartoon" like in both colors they made theirs. I do believe that the hasbro one is a little bigger, but I also felt it was a little bulkier in design.

P.S. I have the Dark Galactus version from Hasbro and I love in much more than the Toy Biz one, but I feel the TB one is more Classic where the Hasbro one is more modern.

Is the Winter Soldier there a head swap with the new Walmart version, or a custom piece?

Messing around with the new Wolverine this morning after finally getting some of the bugs out. It's amazing what the butterfly joints do for this guy...

I never had the TB version but I did have the Hasbro version. It's a good figure but the purple/silver version was more common. I always thought the pink/purple version looked better. If you have the Hasbro Galactus, you pretty much know what you are getting in terms of size and articulation since they share the same body. I think the boots, head and rubber cheast piece are the only pieces that are different. I sold mine a few years ago since my interest in X-Men was practically nonexistent at the time but if I decide to get a Sentinel again, it would probably be the Hasbro version.

The Winter Soldier is the original one from Captain America: The Winter Soldier with his included alternate head and I repainted his body black :)

Lucky! Out of the X-Men wave, I only want Rogue and Wolverine. But sadly TRU preorders for them are gone -___-

They are both good figures. The problem is that Hasbro picked the wrong color scheme for the retail version.

I had a couple Toy Biz ones for a long time and they are great. Had to sell them at one point but eventually I will likely get another. Problem is they underproduced the upper torso part that came with Spider-Man.

The Hasbro ones are larger and still really great for either scale. If the ones in the proper colors are a bit too pricey they are simple enough to repaint.

Thanks! Not sure why the head is so shiny. It came that way.

I think it came out pretty well for my first real, successful custom. Still need to do some touching up on the face once my detail brushes come in tomorrow. Also want to repaint the Scourge body slightly, but I'll wait until I get another Scourge figure. And I need to work on getting this guy some decent guns. But overall, I'm pretty happy with it.

Thanks, it's nothing permanent. Just decided to do a quick head-swap to see what it would look like.

Just a piece of purple material I've hade sitting around for awhile. Just haphazardly wrapped it around the figure's waist.
