Hey DTL...just some food for thought...

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...e3577965e1.jpg

Her head works with the new Kitty Pryde body, and while she's just slightly shorter than the original figure, I think she would look right in place. All she would need is a cape of some sorts, and some paint variation of some sorts to distinguish her from the other X girls. Or have her keep this look. It save you 100+ dollars...that's for sure.

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, I hate mohawk headed Storm. Did Toy Biz every do a proper one? Like the Byrne costume? Or did they just do a black version of the 90s costume with the mohawk head?

Speaking of X-Men:

Comics:

I've decided I'm going to read all of the stories that lead up to the Fall of Mutants issues (which is only like 3 issues for each series) before I read the main story. I've read all of the X-Men stories that lead up to it, which were good, but I am not a fan of punk rocker powerless Storm one bit. On the other hand, I have been enjoying the stuff with the rest of the team and the Marauders, but I am confused, who the heck is Madelyn Pryor? They save her, she says she had married Scott and they had a kid together. WTF?! When did all that happen? Also, how come it seems like every Marvel womanl that gets married to a main hero is a red head? We have Jean Grey, MJ, and now this Madelyn Pryor? Come on, can we get some variation? Other than that, these issues have rocked.

The issue with Gray Hulk was also really good.

And then we come to New Mutants. What the hell? These stories have been average so far, but the worst part has been Magneto. Why is he running the school? When did he become part of the Hellfire Club, and if he is part of them, why is he working with Xavier? However, most of all, since when did Magneto become a person who discriminates? The last issue I read had him want to turn some bird man in just because the bird man isn't remotely human. THAT IS THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHAT MAGNETO WOULD DO!!!!

Anyway, the stories have been mediocre so far, and it might be because I just have no attachment to these characters at all, so it makes it hard for me to care about them. Okay, one is Magick, cool, I have her toy, but she looks nothing like that version here. Cannonball and Wolfbane are there. Wake me up when they join the X-Force and become important. As for the rest, I don't even know who they are or if they serve any purpose later on, but I really don't care.

Animated Series DVDs:

I finished Volume 2 and watched the two episodes on Volume 5 that come before Volume 3 (kind of), and my god, the animation in that Longshot episode is probably the worst of the entire series. The characters were tall and lanky in some parts of the episode, Jubilee would sometimes have her coat on, sometimes off, colors would change between frames of even the same still shot, etc. Not to mention it was just a down right poorly written episode to begin with. That was by far the worst episode of the series thus far.

That episode aside, the series has remained quite enjoyable. The Archangel's revenge episode was really well done, but of course the highlight of the series thus far has been The Phoenix Saga. I love that 5 parter despite the fact that Phoenix is barely even in it. In fact, if there was one thing I would change in this series, it would have been having Jean be Phoenix for the entire season and kick off Season 4 with The Dark Phoenix Saga. Jean is a far more interesting character when she is Phoenix.

Toy Talk:

Uh... I hope Hasbro shows off some good stuff at SDCC next week. They really need to show some more classic Spidey villains though and some of the better X-Men characters and versions of them.

She's a clone of Jean Grey created by Mr. Sinister for evil purposes. She's Cable's mother, she married Scott not long after Jean's first (?) death and they have a kid who will grow up to become Cable but Scott ditches them and she winds up becoming evil Jean.

I'm really hoping they show off a new Jim Lee Cyclops and tiger stripe Wolverine and hopefully a BAF Apocalypse at SDCC. A BAF Kingpin would also be most welcome.

Ive got Black Widow that I made from a Ms. Marvel as well... She's on EBay now. I need cash for all the new legends coming out.

Okay...if all those were wasps...then i'm super impressed..
Where'd you get the hair for the Medusa head..was that included in the 10.00 for the head???

Soooooo....after looking at this image again I noticed that lil' bugger in the background.
Ha...i remember purchasing that Wolverine wayyyyy back. Funny enough.... i also remember when I first saw in..I think i was the diamonds previews....them showing the FIRST pics of that wave of X-men that was coming out...MY HEART DROPPED..... I was like OHHH MYYY GAWWWWWD....they are making action figures of the X-men!!!!!!! (those were the first ever aside from Secret Wars)
The wait was painful....
As excited as I am for this current wave of Legends X-Men to come out... it in no way compared to how excited I was about that first wave of figures coming out. When they finally hit the comic shop I bought every one they had *EDIT* ((that's a lie i bought them from Kay-Bee Toys in the mall)). I still have those same figures to this day.
stock image..i forgot how many came out per wave..mine were all opened.

Yes the hair came with the Medusa head.

As for your awesome trip down Memory Lane about the X-men figures.. I was fortunate enough to have a friend who worked at Marvel back when those were in the planning stage.. I got to see a lot of sneak peaks in the two years prior to their release. I was on cloud nine! I've been an X-MEN fan since 1976...so I feel you in the age department!!

VonPooten 07-18-2016 04:35 AM

Edit: Starlord, those customs look beautiful! Medusa especially is excellent. This is how her and Mystique should have been released.

Although, am I the only one who prefers Raven in her body stocking underneath her tunic? People tend to forget that she never showed skin (other than her head) for YEARS.

I vacillate on dioramas and the accent pieces that compliment them. On one hand, it's obvious how much they add to figure displays by assisting the viewer to make that leap from 'shelf' to 'comic panel.' Done well, they look fantastic. On the other hand there are only so many scenarios in which any one diorama is going to work, a fact that feels a bit limiting. Once that realization is made, the need for more dioramas soon follows...and I simply don't have the space nor funds to add diorama collecting to my hobby. One day, I'll get that stuff. For now, I'm just having fun practicing.

I do like your suggestion, it matches my minimalist approach to displays and would not detract too much from the figures themselves or their poses/motion...these are the most important aspects to be celebrated when I throw a display together. I like to explore, on strength of pose alone, whether I can bridge that gap between the aforementioned 'shelf' and 'panel.' Sometimes I'm successful, other times I'm not. But when I've done it, I feel a satisfying sense of accomplishment. At times, I feel like dios can function as a crutch, but that's partly because I'm jealous that I don't have any!:p

If the struggle of figure storing warrants a cry of frustration, finding a place to stow dioramas-a-plenty would be a walking nightmare. You can magnetise the pieces and thus flat pack them, but still the question remains. This is why I'm entering the field of rubble/debris/smoke making, as these are all universal to any battle between figures! They can also hide light wiring, flight stands, and prop up those tricky characters that love to stumble into everyone and knock your entire display down (I'm looking at you, Kate Bishop, and your gummy legs!)

I may be going overboard, though. Every shelf in my cabinet has some form of dust cloud and brick debris scattered amongst the heroes. It's quite addictive. :p

Yes on both BAFs. I just can't afford or justify $150 for the Toy Biz Apocalypse.

I don't own many Toybiz but my giant man build a figure has some translucent white looking crap on his right shoulder so i don't know what that is and it won't really come off. And it wasn't there when I bought him
