So im wondering if we're really going to get that specific spidey wave come the end of the year or next. I've been patiently waiting for a black costume spidey figure.
Also we never heard anything more about that wolverine wave.. i hope that comes to eventually. |

The rest actually had those numbers, so it's more likely they're true. I'm also really questioning if we'll see the X-wave 2 and Spider Man wave 3 waves this year or next. I guess we'll find out soon enough. |

Made a TRU only stop yesterday (the restaurant I was meeting a friend at was right next door so I figured what the hay.). No 3 pack. OF COURSE. I think this thing is mythological at this point.
@warmachine6, nice shots man! Especially the flying Falcon! |
Very nice acquisition, warmachine! Are you happy with how Falcon came out?
Some quick thoughts on the Abomination wave (arrived today): we were speculating on here as to whether this was the "bargain" wave for Hasbro, in an attempt to grab cash off the collectors without actually returning quality, and I would say we were quite accurate. I know people have had QC problems with previous figures, but for me every character in this wave suffers from loose/gummy joints and warped limbs. Had to hairdry half of them just so they could stand up. Low point: I was anticipating Secret War Cap, due to an enjoyment of the storyline the costume spawned from and an interest in the shield accessory. The accessory is... frumpy, to say the least. As you can see in the photo, the regular Cap shield simply slots into the throwing effect, which makes it clunky and altogether none-too-pleasing to the eye. Combined with this, the hand seems not to reflect what a hand that's just thrown a shield would look like. Generally speaking, when Cap launches his shield, it would arc to the left, but this bends outward (to the right), and it doesn't look right at all. Disappointing. High points: Funnily enough, Eel is a really nice figure. Simple repaint, but a clean and well executed D-list bad guy. I can't find my Blizzard figure to give you a comparison, but I don't actually think they share the same head... The best figure is Wanda, hands down. Her legs are rubbery as heck, but give 'er a go under the hairdyer and run her under a cold tap, and they should be sturdier. Beautiful sculpt, fantastic face, really an A-class figure. She does have the side hand joints (like Hellcat, Black Cat, and White Tiger), but it doesn't seem as detrimental on her. It's definitely a set worth buying. I actually enjoy Abomination more than I thought I would (although his hand came out of its socket when posing, stupid gummy plastic), and Simon and Brian are solid additions to your Avengers collection (but not great). So yes, I recommend this wave, but with caution. http://i1370.photobucket.com/albums/...n.png~original Edit: Forgot Iron Skull! As you can see, I haven't opened him yet due to the possibility of selling him (the first figure I've ever considered doing that with). I will say this, the head sculpt is really nice, with a good black wash on it. If you're on the fence about him, he's a fine looking figure, but just not for me. |
Nice review Von! Yeah I'm so torn on this wave. I almost kind of want to cancel it because now I really just want Eel and Wanda, but the rest don't look too bad for me (can't stand that Abomination though), and I figure Wanda is going to be nigh impossible to find at retail. So I'm grudgingly sticking with it.
Sorry to hear about the QC issues...that is always a pain. |
Thanks, Von. Yeah...Eel, Captain Britain, and Wonderman may be my only pick-ups from this wave. Wanda looks to be the best, but the application of too much rouge on the cheeks may nix any potential nab on my part...not a fan of women that wear too much make-up lol
|
Loving that Wanda figure!! Cannot wait to add her to my collection. Wonderman, EEl and Capt. Britain look good too!
|
@Nash I have to agree that, if you want Wanda guaranteed, it might be wise to keep the preorder. The others are fine figures though, don't get me wrong. Abomination is.. surprisingly very nice looking, but it's those darn stubby legs that ruin him! Everything else is stellar.
@BM, Yes, yes, she is a very rosy-cheeked individual! It might need some drybrushing to get rid of, but I can see where your doubts are coming from for sure. You're not really an MCU collector are you? @Starlord, That was my reasoning behind the wave too. Four out of seven figures (BAF included) isn't a bad reason to get the whole lot. |
Eel is the visual standout based on his colors. Maybe not his sculpt but your eyes can't help but be drawn to that color scheme. Much like Blizxard. I'm gonn have to set them up to go out for a night on the town lol.

Wanda looks great and I love the hands! Now I just need to find her some better effects. The ones she comes with look way too bulky.
|
@VonPooten...Where did you order from if you don't mind me asking?

@Starlord Kapow Toys. :) They're UK-based, and have been pretty good at getting things in stock quicker than the US (I got my Namor a good two months ago I believe). They've hiked the prices though, so this set me back £170/$220. :/ It's the only way (other than Ebay) for me to get a wave, though.
@redfox I know, those effects are going nowhere near her... Awful things. Quote:
With Moonstone starting a bar fight, of course. :D |

@Vonpooten hes a good figure , worth getting if you can. Minor things head cant look fully up, unless you decapitate him first move the peg all the way back and stick the head on, that just needs to be a bit longer. Wish he came with at least 2 smg guns !! upper body paint apps are good , as well as for the wings , then lower body seems alright got the basic stuff in there. though having looked at falcon in the movie its the design he got given rather than Hasbro's error. I also got mine from Kapow Toys, ordered yesterday got it today , totally worth their postage rates. But overall i think hes a must have. EDIT- Wish red wing was treated like he was with the 3.75" verison with the stand etc |
Regarding Wanda's red cheecks...do you think a slight wash of non acetone nail polish remover might take off some of the blush? It appears to be too much
|
My most wanted figure...

You can get the X-Men case wave from there too, but that's if you want the whole case, I got it there and it's great. Quote:
