shortysben 03-16-2012 05:40 PM

LM I need the dark hawkeye please!

shortysben 03-16-2012 05:42 PM

and here is why...so I was really excited to try and make a new hawkeye. So I started with a dark bullseye I bought from my LCS for 12.99...because targets had been out of them around me...and then I thought great I will use the arms from the spare namor I have...needless to say both figures are now fucked!

http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/...ben/wtf001.jpg

I dont get it, I boiled them both, and tried the pop method, but the arms just would not come out...I dont get it...usually they come right out...but these persisted, and I got real pissed when I broke the first shoulder socket...

BigHanksCustoms 03-16-2012 05:42 PM

Deadpool really, reaaallly appreciates his $5 pirate ship!

shortysben 03-16-2012 05:42 PM

Seems like the shoulders are the same, you should have just swapped at the bicep. Live and learnd though, messing up is part of the process.

shortysben 03-16-2012 05:46 PM

yeah, but I have never had this problem where the shoulder joint would just not snap out...besides he would have looked DUMB if I did bicep down...

You have a point, I was assuming you were going to paint it up too.

I usually "crack the body" halves when I need entire arms, I wouldn't think they would pull out with those big disks holding them in the torso.

shortysben 03-16-2012 05:55 PM

this is fucking why...when did the figures go to the circle shoulder joints pictured here??? I am use to the arrow joints connecting...DAMMIT...I hate wasting money

shortysben 03-16-2012 05:59 PM

Granted, I haven't customized a ton of MU but all the ones I have done have joints like those, not "arrows". Hmmmmm.

Soak in hot water (hottest you can take without burning yourself, just below boiling).

Soak for a moment then remove as much "soft plastic" parts as you can.

Soak an additional minute or two (to break that glue loose) and what I use is a 2 1/2 inch bench vise ( I have heard of folks using channel locks type pliers too) . The jaws are padded with an ols t'shirt scrap folded a few times.

Place the figure in the vice so that the body "seam" is getting pinched by the vise.

Slowly tighten it up until you hear a soft pop. You may have to repeat a few times but it will come free.

If you take your time you can even preserve the pegs that hold the front and back halves together.

I just cracked my Terrax (ML BAF) last night and it broke free leaving the pegs intact, which is awesome because I will be putting a battery in the body, being able to pop it open and closed will facilitate baterry changes.

I just did an MU Black Widow last night too (gave her X-23's legs and GI HJOe Renegades Scarlett's awesome arms) When I get home I'll throw a couple pics up.

If you're that angry about it, think that atleast you have extra parts, ie headsculpt weapons, that's worth something or if u want, glue them back together and return them, or put figures in their place and return them for your $$.

what the heck were you trying to do?

Marvel Universe and GiJoe figures have never had shoulder joints that you could pop out like that. You can only separate them at the bicep joint.

You can pull out the shoulders on captain America figures though. They have that arrow plug thingy

shortysben 03-16-2012 06:55 PM

yeah figured that out...thanks...but SAVE THE DAY! check this nasty bugger out! Heres......CLINT
