Man, this Omnibus is awesome. I'm gonna have so many X-Men stories to read over the next few weeks lol.

For the longest time I was so tired of some of the bigger Marvel names. Especially the ones with multiple simultaneous titles to their name. The stories seemed either lacklustre "villain of the week" or not respectful enough of their character continuity. (I know, sounding pretty entitled)
But the additions of Miles Morales, Kamala Khan, America Chavez, Kate Bishop (and any and all other Young Avenger related character) Spider-Gwenn, Blue Marvel, Laura Kinney, etc. etc. etc. have really opened up the storylines in my opinion.

Rektangular over on Youtube said he was a rumoured reveal for this SDCC with both a cape and vest version.
That would be awesome!

jwyss234 07-21-2016 11:47 PM

Can anyone recomend some Dr. Strange comics. I'm just looking for a couple of issues or a graphic novel that would serve as a good introduction to the character, not a 50 issue run or anything like that. I'm sure I'll see the movie later this year but the trailer didn't hook me the way the GOTG trailer did.

Has anyone outside of Texas seen the new Punisher? I'm going to see the new Star Trek movie this weekend so I'll be able to check some Walgreens but I don't want to get my hopes up too much if Raf just got lucky.

Easy. Dr Strange volume 1, issues 46 and 55. The Doctor and D'Spayre.

Also agree. Thanx. And BTW, The Shroud is looooong overdue. That guy is awesome. I remember a particular issue of Marvel Team-up with Spider-Man Vs. Dansen Macabre. I remember being mesmerised by it.

TheBlueMarvel 07-22-2016 04:19 AM

@redfox

Thanks! I purchased them with the eldritch flame of magic users in mind and then it dawned on me that Psylocke was also a great candidate for them.

@daetrin

I appreciate that bit of great news and I'll keep my fingers crossed! Edit: Which video by the way? Re-EDIT:...found it. Thanks again...

@ariel

Man, we are going to get along well! You are the only other person on this thread that I have seen to ever make mention of D'Spayre. A really cool demonic villain that deserves a figure so very desperately! I loved his appearances in old Dr. Strange comics and that classic John Byrne Spidey and Man Thing Marvel Team-Up that served to introduce him to me. I'd love a fig for him, Jude the Entropic Man, the Dark Crawler, and Baron Blood...among many other obscure characters.

VonPooten 07-22-2016 05:29 AM

Huh, D'Spayre. Thought his name was familiar, and it is! He attacks Cyclops in #144 of Uncanny X-Men, acting as a way for Scott to metabolise the trauma of Jean's death and move onwards. Scott also meets Lee Forrester at that point, who was his part-time girlfriend (and later became Magneto's after they crash landed on his island.. which was an odd tangent for Claremont). Yes, D'Spayre. He had a wonderfully scary aesthetic.

Yeah, Von. His name alone was in perfect form with the colorful names of the period. There was a spate there in the late seventies/early eighties when D'Spayre was a hot commodity villain. The stark white of his skin against the deep black of his garb made for a striking visualization. I was unaware of his X-men appearance from that period, but it makes sense since he was showing up as a foil for other flagship titles/characters. I need to read Uncanny 144. It's ironic, but one of my very first X-men books, gifted to me by a family friend, was issue 143. lol Which cemented Kitty as a favorite character for me...I've also hoped that a N'Garai would show up as a X-men themed Marvel Legends toy for many years now, thanks to that Christmas issue...

Now this is weird!
That's the second time today someone mentions Lee Forrester.
About an hour before your post, my daughter asks me how Magneto and Lee know each other when she rescues him from the water.
She just fell in love with the X-Men this week.

Didn't D'Spayre and Nightmare have a team-up at some point?

That Luke Cage trailer though!!!

TheBlueMarvel 07-22-2016 06:39 AM

@daetrin

Yup, they combine forces to attack Joe Fixit Hulk. I would also love a Nightmare fig to increase my 'hell lords' Legends collection...

Boy Blunder 07-22-2016 07:08 AM

Next Marvel Legends fan-vote poll is up! Today's match-up: Typhoid Mary vs. ...Lasher?!

While I think having a set of all the crazy Separation Anxiety Symbiote kids (Lasher, Scream, Phage, Riot, and Agony) would be great fun, I'd much rather see Typhoid Mary than a green Carnage repaint.

Excactly. Never even heard of Lasher myself. Typhoid Mary for the win today but still Songbird (I assume she won easily yesterday.) Would love to get both TM and Songbird though. Thanks for sharing!

For Doctor Strange, the mini-series Doctor Strange: The Oath is supposed to be good.

37 votes for Solo, 197 for Songbird.

Damn, was just in the middle of counting them all myself :p

But yeah, Songbird creamed Solo, as if there was any doubt. Solo could be fun with the amount of weapons they could include with him, but... Songbird, man.

Not surprising. Poor Solo. That was absolutely going to be a clear winner matchup from the get go.

Thanks! Thanks to you too BB! And I agree, I wouldn't say "no" to a Solo figure, but Songbird is just too...as Osborne said, toyetic. Which makes it ironic that was even said in a comic, and yet....no figure. o_O

While I haven't read it myself, I've heard a lot of good things about Doctor Strange & Doctor Doom: Triumph and Torment.

Dark Crawler! Man, he was seriously weird. Very Kirby.
Oh and don't forget Glorian, Bereet and Jackdaw! Haha!

Hmmm, looks like it might be another landslide victory. Typhoid Mary has been on many wishlists/wanted polls.

I'm gonna re-post this in the fan-poll thread, so it doesn't get lost in the jumble.

Sad as i really wanted solo to make the cut. Songbird is nice but pointless without the other tbolts. Hopefully solo gets made regardless.

Hardly. Songbird has had quite an active career outside of the Thunderbolts, and is currently a regular cast member in New Avengers. And while I definitely want the entire original Thunderbolts team, Songbird has the most reason to get a solo release ahead of the other members (aside from maybe a Citizen V figure).

I have to agree - sorry Nitelife, you are of course welcome to your own opinion and I get what you're saying.

It helps for me because while Citizen V, Fixer and Mach IV (or II or whatever version just a Mach something) as well as an Atlas BAF, are high on my list, Songbird is much higher. Maybe it was the broken promise of the lost figure (even with the bad hair lol), a few years back, but she's a huge want for me.

Also going to go out on a limb here, and again this may be because they teased us with a pulled figure once already, but I think it's very probable Songbird may win the entire poll, even without knowing who the last four choices are.
