My stores still haven't gotten the Doc Ock wave yet, it's pretty annoying. I can't even say there's anything in this wave that I really want but the fact that we aren't getting it here at all is a bad sign. |

Also, awesome collection of mutants you got there. Now would you kindly ship them out to me along with that custom? Seriously, though. That's an awesome custom. I also so that on eBay but I was harnessing my chi (money) into a much more powerful attack (figure). |

by the way, great Dio Pilk! but seeing as how Mortal Kombat is not directly a MARVEL property you might want to hide it somewhere the policy police are watching! |
Oooo... love that dio, Pilk! I'd considered a dio from you but truthfully I don't know what I'd like. XD
|
Great work Pilkster; I'm digging the new head molds you came out with. That Dio is superb, it's got Ghost Rider, Mephisto, and Dormammu written all over it.

Thanks guys, the guy asked for a generic evil throne. floatin over lava. he wanted some kind of cells so we came up with this design with the 2 holding platforms on each side. I need to add some holding chains and some bones to the platforms and its done.
Hes going to use it for his star wars, MU, G I Joes and mortal kombat figures |
Hello Pilkster and other sirs, is there a grinning head I can use for an unmasked Dr Doom? I wanted to get the comics subscription figure because of the maniacal expression he had, but I saw the reviews-it was just a Steve Rogers head. Looking at Green Goblin, it just doesn't fit either.
Oh and being off topic a bit: Amadeus Cho is going to be the new Hulk. And you guys were just discussing diversity. |

Victoria Hand was a lesbian in the comics AND THEY KILLED HER. She had a thing with Izzy AND THEY KILLED HER TOO. The disposability of queer women on TV is a huge and extremely aggravating issue in of itself. This is a big part of why representation matters. |

But yeah it's ridiculous how pivotal a character she was and she got so less. idk how creepy the Vision/Wanda Romance is I thought it was cute... though I'm more of a CarolWanda shipper these days :) |

it was and is still pretty for me and my career prospects are pretty dim, being a disabled transgender women. people who exist at intersections like me are treated as a joke, but i know plenty of people who are marginalised in more than one way because that's what happens when you get real people and not one dimensional characters. A lot of the time people take offence for a very good reason. but people plug their ears and say "Social justice warriors!" or "PC Gone mad!" so don't stick around for an explanation. I hate for example that I don't have a single figure of a Transgender character. And the few that exist(Crappy Knock off Birdo figures, a few Poison PVCs) aren't exactly to my liking.it's really depressing when you feel like you're never allowed to be the hero. sure I don't always relate to the trans character the most when there is one(Laverne Cox's character definitely isn't my favourite in OITNB) but why is it only people like me that are asked to relate to people different to themselves, constantly? we need to at least be told and shown we have people like us to latch onto. like i've become obsessed with Ghoulia Yelps from Monster High and want a doll(I Never buy Fashion dolls) because the character is obviously presented as autistic. I gave a Roma kid my Scarlet Witch and Quiksilver figures and when I told them they had Roma heritage just like him he fell in love with them. When I tried explaining they cast white actors and covered up that bit of them in Age of Ultron, it was really depressing These things matter. When you're sheltered or shielded from what it's like to exist on these intersections, it might look like clamouring for nothing. But all of these "offences" are taken for a reason. Representation is so very very valuable, you have absolutely no idea. |

I don't think it's lazy storytelling. It's a soft reboot, like New 52 except done sort of right. The fact is that most of these characters have been around since the 60s/70s and unfortunately things were a lot less progressive than they are nowadays. A lot of groups got shut out of feeling like they could be heroes too, and that's really hurtful. The movies are largely white dude fests, which isn't a lot of fun for someone like me who wants to see She Hulk, or Kamala Khan, or Wasp, or god forbid a character who's queer like me(Valkyrie? Idk, not that many queer characters in Marvel really esp. outside of X-verse). It's not about offending people. It's about making sure that as many people as possible. Plus, it helps keep things fresh and interesting and gives you more archetypes, character histories etc. to draw from. Ms. Marvel/Kamala Khan is a great example of that. It wouldn't be the same comic if she wasn't Muslim, even if her being Muslim isn't really the central point of it. There's no reason why we should only pander to straight white cis dudes. Writing it off as "offence" thing is deeply disrespectful towards everyone like me. I honestly don't feel comfortable hearing the term PC at all and would appreciate you didn't use it. It's not because I'm somehow oversensitive, it's because i have a long history of bullying, abuse and even violence that couldn't imagine. I've dealt with a lot more than most people. And I think I deserve more respect than to be treated like a whiny baby, which tbh describes most entitled white dude geeks more accurately anyway. When you complain about PC what you're really saying is "I don't respect you as a human being in the slightest." You're saying you don't care about other people's struggles, or don't want to hear about them. You're writing off equality as part of some liberal conspiracy rather than a very real need for a lot of people. We need to call a spade a spade and not pretending that this sort of thing is a cute opinion - it's not. It's malice. And I would really appreciate if people stopped doing it. |
