Was stoked to run into Black Widow and Falcon tonight at Toys R Us! I'm open to offers for Black Widow if anyone out there is still looking for her. Lemme know!

I doubt he wants $55 shipped for it. LOL

He just got it hoping someone on here wanted it. No harm in that.

If picking up something simply because I see a lot of people here on the boards fretting over being able to find her constitutes as scalping...I guess I'm guilty. But then again, if that makes me guilty, then so is everyone else on the B/S/T boards.

I collect because I love it, not because it pays my bills (because if anything, it can get me into trouble with my bills at times.) If you collect toys simply to flip them, unless you're the Jordan Hembrough type with booku dollars and even bigger connections, chances are you will end up on your ass. (Which are words out of his own mouth as well...)

I was just lucky at Toys R' Us today, and was hoping to help out some of the others on the boards here who have had trouble running into this figure for whatever reasons. I posted it here, instead of the B/S/T boards because Falcon was a new find for me that I intend to keep for myself, and to let people know that there's an extra BW floating around out there to someone who might need it. Honestly, I don't do a lot of trading, so I don't see a point in making a post in those forums if I don't have all that much to offer.

If monetary gain was all I was after, I would have thrown that BW up on Ebay the moment that I got home, not posting it here on the boards to offer it up to someone searching for it. Ganking someone for their hard earned cash though is the last thing on my mind. I haven't even figured out what I want to trade for yet.

No luck in finding the Joe vehicles in Ross yesterday, but my last day in Orlando allowed me to drive trough the suburbs and find a small toysrus with MU discounted.
Nothing great, but they had MarkIV for 2$ and light-up base IM for 5$ so I picked them as we'll as a TMNT zip line and a MU Black Knight and a Blind Master.

I bought a Cobra Commander from Ross (4.99) earlier so asked ToysRUs people if they could price match Joes since their pegs were full, but they don't price match Ross unfortunately... Too bad I would have loved army building those dark ninjas!

rupertvalero 05-09-2014 06:58 AM

just got this guy in. I was very disappointed at how light and toyish he looks and feels. the finish feels plastic and doesn't look metallic like other 3A products.

so, are you selling it to the highest offer?

Does it matter if that was his plan? If someone offered him an insane amount it would be because the product was worth it to them. It's not like he came in here and said "BLACK WIDOW FOR SALE, $100 PLUS SHIPPING!". He's trying to make sure it goes to someone who can't get it otherwise.

Anyway, I noticed a couple of people asked me about that Deathstroke that was included with the Son of Batman Blu-Ray. It's nothing special at all, really. There are heroclix products that are better sculpted and with nicer paint detail than this figurine. It's cool to have, I suppose, but unless you have any of the other blu-ray pack-in figurines already, it's going to get kind of lonely on a shelf.

Wow. If I realized that my offering an extra Black Widow to trade here on the boards was gonna turn into a thinly veiled attack as to whether I am trying to rip off folks here and flip these things for profit, I wouldn't have done it.

Truthfully, cash is the last thing that I'm looking for. I just told two different people in IM that I'm more interested to trade than to sell, and that my selling price would be no more than what I paid plus shipping. It's not as if I grabbed the figure off the peg, walked outside of TRU and started yelling out "Who wants it...70 bucks!" I'm not trying to start a bidding war for the thing, only using it to see if anyone else out there might have something that I'm looking for. Again, if I wanted a bidding war for cash, I would have went straight to Craigslist or Ebay.

I know I'm gonna get skewered no matter how I put this, because there's no real way of saying it without coming off as one of the villainous toy scalpers we all see camping out in front of our local toy stores ten minutes before the store opens, but I'll try, and go down in flames if I have to. If I set my bar low to begin with, and two others decide to fight over who wants it more, am I supposed to simply go with the lower offer simply because they gave me puppy dog eyes and it's the more charitable thing to do, or do I go with the person who has the better offer because I stand to benefit more from it? What would you do in that situation? And if money isn't involved and it's a trade, who's to say what's a better offer? ML Red Variant Deadpool is a much harder to find figure (not to mention more expensive) than say ML Red Hulk Series Black Spider-Man (which still has a pretty price on it, but nowhere near those ML Red Deadpools,) but I'd snag that Spidey in a heartbeat simply because I'm a Spider-Man fan and have little interest in Deadpool variants. What's one man's garbage is another man's gold, and if someone is willing to part with something, it obviously wasn't worth that much to them anymore. Value is always in the eye of the beholder.

TimothyR 05-09-2014 06:21 PM

i just hate it when people buy things that they know people want just to turn a profit.. it just seems unethical.. but if you're charging price + shipping.. that's a good thing and more people should do that.

I'm pretty sure I was asking Trivial Psychic, chico.

I'm pretty sure it was just a question. I wonder why you are inferring so much from a simple question?
Oddly enough, you explained more than I wanted to know, and never answered the question.
So, are you going to sell to the highest bidder? Or is there a price you have in mind that you can disclose to us?

DarthGzus33 05-09-2014 08:26 PM

Friday night trip to Walmart and I do my usual stop in the toy aisle with my daughter...(She's in to blind bags - you name it, she has at least 1 of it LOL!) I've been looking for TF4 stuff all week and then I saw this, YES!!! My daughter was like, "I don't care about that, Daddy"...LOL!!!

I apologize for going on the defensive. I guess I took offense over the insinuation that I might be trying to rip someone off purposely when TimothyR asked if I was scalping.

Honestly, I'm trying to avoid selling it at all if I can. I'm still putting together a list of things I would want to trade for as opposed to selling (which may end up costing someone less than what I paid for BW, if you happen to have any of said items.) As far as a monetary price, if I can't find what I'm looking for, I may go that route. I won't give a quote, but I won't be asking for 100 bucks or anything crazy like that. I don't feel comfortable with that, and honestly, it's not my thing. I want someone to enjoy this figure as much as I do (being that I already have one,) without having to look at their bank account with regret.

At the risk of incurring the wrath of the moderators, I won't answer any more questions about trading or selling the figure here, and let us all get back to showing off our cool finds. I'll create a separate thread on the B/S/T boards along with some other stuffs I'm trying to get rid of. If you're curious Falconhood, please feel free to send me an IM.

You know, I hated the looks of these when I first saw them at Toy Fair, but some of the Dinobots are shaping up alright. I'll admit, some of the finished products look way better in person. (Except for poor Voyager Optimus :( )I'm really hoping to find Scorn soon, he looks sick! Good find and congrats!

Brownfinger 05-09-2014 09:48 PM

If a man here on a forum with more than ten posts who interacts in a friendly manner says he wants to help his fellow collectors, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Maybe it's naive, but if we have any scalpers who post here regularly, I'd be fairly surprised. In fact, I got free toys here once. Just because!

I went hunting for Dinobots as well, and, uh... I guess I succeeded? Sort of? XD

I made no "insinuation" I just don't want to put in a bid if I know I'll just be outbidded by a rich fan. Normally a non-scalper would say "Hey guys, if you are looking for XXXX I found an extra one I'll send you at cost" which is always cool. I've done that before.
Someone else called you a scalper.

It is a nice sculpt. I got one but I don't have any basic Stormtroopers yet. I need to get a grip of articulated one eventually.
