I was looking at some old Indiana Jones figures and I saw the Mutt Williams one. Do you guys think it's possible to add a beard to him so that I can have Shia Labeouf "Just Doing It" on my shelf.

Universe 09-09-2015 04:31 AM

For Kamatayan:

Haha nice idea on the Labeouf custom. I loved him in Fury.

You're too kind. I see a ton of mistakes on it, but my skill level at this isn't anywhere near yours. That Maria Hill head you sent is fantastic.

And speaking of that, it might be a bit before I show her off since I need to snag another AA Black Widow figure for her first.

jedirulz123 09-09-2015 06:28 AM

Universe, who's the head on Cage? I need a no glasses look.

You know, having a second look at the upcoming She Thor, I think she has a torso joint. Might have to pick her up now, I've skipped everyone except Bishop this year.

Universe 09-09-2015 06:59 AM

That is a Roadblock head, it looks great as a Cage head; the original Cage head is used for my Blade.

So guys, I want to make an Ant Man custom figure with a spare 2013 Captain America I have around. This would be my first ever custom, so I figure I may as well start with a project that wouldn't really hurt my collection too badly if I fail. I do have a question, though: Which method is better for separting pieces from the figure, boiling water, or a hair dryer?

UrsaMagnus 09-09-2015 03:57 PM

Personally I prefer the boil-and-pop method myself. I've not had much success using a hair drier.

Hot water. Works in about 30 seconds for most parts.

That's why I don't make customs. My collection isn't all that big so picking a figure to kill off for a project that might fail doesn't seem like a good idea to me. That's why I think someone should start with the group meant for trading/buying MU fodder. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

Well, this is a figure I already have one of, so it's not all that hard of a decision.

deathofthelines 09-09-2015 07:52 PM

Found an aou captain America head and it doesn't match up the way I wanted for my little project. :( but it works on my gijoe cap perfectly.:)

Universe, I wanted to ask you: what head did you use for Quartermain there? I like it and may do that myself if I have that head around somewhere. I plan on doing the Nick Fury headswap as well.

deathofthelines 09-09-2015 08:17 PM

Looks like a resolute era Duke but can't remember the exact name
This one. Http://toys.hisstank.com/wp-content/...1332263464.jpg

Universe 09-09-2015 08:23 PM

Yes, the head came from Resolute Duke from the 7 pack. You know what? I had no idea who you referring to until I Googled' Quartermain and the look is uncanny. I had no idea about that character, I just thought he looked good as an ordinary shield agent.

EDIT: just read up on him. Cool historical character, total fluke on my part. Good call UrsaMagnus :)

I prefer the hair dryer. Less chance of burning yourself with hot water that way.
You need to use the high setting.

He had some fun bits in EMH.

I personally used an unmasked TWS Cap head on the AA Fury body for him.

Made diorama pieces for future setups:

bmorr 09-10-2015 11:46 AM

I'm lucky to live in the U.S. and love it.

I've read Marvel and DC since I was in grade school, I actually like a lot of the stuff marvel is doing now if you have given up reading marvel I think secret wars is a great place to jump back on. I'm not sure if I should go the digital route or keep my paper comics/ TPBs.

Also did anyone here see this cover? I love how the artist based it off of the first MU female buck:

I hope Dani and Misty get more attention now with the Diversity push, plus the Luke Cage series and New Mutants movie. I reeeeally want both of them in 4" format so bad. I wish they'd have made all those, and also the Secret Wars figures, aha. I really really want Rightclops.

The reason why I was building those dio pieces:
