That's an awesome IM display. I've never liked one character that much, and besides...not enough ant man related figures available lol

Ninjinister 01-06-2013 07:30 PM

What's the head they used for the MU Maria Hill? I Remember someone saying it was a GI Joe head (some sort of Scarlet I think) but I can't recall what exact figure.

uberlad 01-06-2013 07:54 PM

It's an all new sculpt as far as I know. It looks similar to the Resolute Scarlet if you were to lop off the ponytail.

FancyPants 01-06-2013 07:55 PM

I cleaned and redid part of my MU display. Put a comic on my FF display, put my brotherhood of evil mutants together. I love already having teams together, just not "together" on the shelf. Did the same thing for my cosmic characters

When this pic was taken I hadn't gotten my lizard yet.

FF close up. I love the comic, WDP gave me the idea. Doing the for dark avengers

I love my custom union jack. Wife did a good job with him

Cosmic figures, Gold thanos is a place holder for blastaar. Still need MS watcher. I'm going to fix silver surfer, Going to mount him differently to look cool with the cosmic guys

Doesn't look a thing like her. Did you mean Renegades Scarlett, though? That looks closer now that I look at her.

So I had this black-suit Spider-Man that I'd used for a custom (or at least the body... the head was repurposed elsewhere) that I no longer wanted to have. It wasn't very good and besides I have the official one now (FF Spidey).

Someone had told me to soak a figure in nail polish remover overnight and all the paint should come right off; I'd tried high proof rubbing alcohol before and it *still* ended up being a pain in the butt to peel it all off. So, I set Spidey's body in there last night and this is what I got in the morning: a bunch of rubbery pieces.

Maybe I should have done the research and find out what sort of chemical reactions could occur due to such an action. Being a guy, I had no idea what nail polish remover did outside of what the name implies. The saddest part though, is notice there's no torso. That's because it dissolved into the paint that came off. I don't know whether the body's made of a softer plastic or what, but that shit's completely gone! I was potentially going to look at the silver lining and use this method to soften a torso that had been giving me trouble even with boil 'n' pop, if these pieces ever hardened again, but once I realized there was no torso, I was devastated.

Thankfully this was a fairly common figure I'd only paid like $4 for on clearance for. Fair warning though! Don't do what was suggested to me! I'm lucky it didn't eat the cup I put it in!

Wow that sucks whoever gave you that advice is a straight jerk.

That's crazy Ninjinister. I tried soaking an X-Factor Ice Man in rubbing alcohol/ 70% IPA for days to try and get the white paint off of him. Nothing happened except the glue used on his joints turned yellow. I even washed him with dish soap first to try and wash off any clear coat that might be on him. The only paint that came off had to be scraped/ scratched off. Nail polish remover/ acetone will work it just needs to be washed off before it has a reaction with the plastic so I do not like messing with it. Does anyone know of a better way to remove paint from figs?

bmorr 01-07-2013 11:25 AM

On the subject of action figure fail, the arm to my scarlet witch decided it'd be cool to just snap off. I did fix it by cutting off the metal portion of a thumbtack, essentially creating a new shoulder swivel. It seems that the swivel joint in the shoulder froze in place and the tension of moving the arm broke the part where the arm meets the torso.

Also, in the span of a week Im getting three new additions to the collection for cheap : Dark Spiderman, Sif, and Green Mandarin.

Yeah, nail polish remover is powerful stuff. If can remove the paint on figures if you rub it on and then rub it off after a minute or so. I know that if you leave it on too long it will weaken the plastic. Soaking I assumed would lead to something like what happened to you.

That's the one I meant. Those pesky joe cartoon figs all run together to me. Outside of the head, MH is just a black widow body with white paint. It wouldn't take much to match hasbro's effort.

I wish someone would have warned me before :\ I'll have to find who suggested it to me.

Yep. I can't see paying $80+ for her. Gonna just do mine for much much less, even if it ends up only being like 99% accurate.

Here's some of wave 21 & the War Machine from one of the upcoming comic packs.

Nova is pretty much Nova if you ask me. Some people have said that the star is too big because it's tough to see his eyes. His eyes are a little hidden, but my picture probably exagerates that a little bit because of the lighting.

Puck is really tiny, but he has a little more poa than I thought he did. He has neck, shoulder, & hip ball joints, calf swivel, and ankle swivels (like stan lee cyc ankles).

I bought War Machine because on the listing everything you see here that's white was shiny silver. It's actually white shiny paint on top of white plastic.

Puck looks like one of those early 90s Hasbro WWF wrestling figures

Nova will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine.

That's exactly what is says. I guess he was one of the production test runs or something. I haven't had a chance to clean it off yet.

Yeah, he really does. He's seriously tiny too.

I updated my post from last because he actually does have ankle swivels. Can't believe I missed that yesterday.

I believe he means Dark Avengers Spiderman? The one from the 2 pack?
