The first time I found it, I was on a mission...this time? No business, just the pleasure of the hunt!

I included in the background today's date on a photo for those of you that still doubt me...Lol

Nice score - "The Second time around" anyone remember the Step-by-Step theme song?

I know it goes against popular consensus, but I think that Black Widow is awesome, and IMO the best. Sure it doesn't resemble Scar-Jo, but it looks like an ass-kicking female merc and I think Natasha fits the build.

I got an awesome idea in class today.

So what if we all pitched in to get some type of grail item and then raffle it off. Like each participant has to give $10 to the referee or whatever and each $10 gets you one raffle. And on the raffle day to make sure it isn't rigged the referee will share screens with us on Skype and use some randomizer website to determine the winner. But the ref wouldn't be allowed to participate.

I was thinking that the prize could be the Super Helicarrier or something like that. I was also thinking about solid Vision but I think that most of you already have him.

We'd have to raise $200 for the SH which would take 20 people assuming we all only give $10. Of course there will be some of you who will give more than $10. But if you're giving more than $10 then it has to be $20 and $30 if you're giving higher than $20 and so on.

KDub could be the ref since he already has the SH.

We can work out the rest later of you're all interested.

So, is in anyone game?

K Dubious 10-21-2015 12:53 PM

Kamatayan - I think it would be fun, but I think you would have a hard time finding 20 people that all need the SH and that are all willing to throw $10 at a chance for it.

I think it would be an awesome thing to do, maybe do something every other month or so, but I think you gotta lower your expectations, only so that it isn't as risky and easy to replicate.

If people only had to throw $5 at it I think a lot more people would jump on it, but again you would have to find something in the $100 price range and again something that everyone would want or can use.

kylactus 10-21-2015 12:54 PM

ok, lets low ball a grail item (like white shirt Luke, or hair doo BW's) at, and I'm lowballing, 2000$ if we can get 200 people that wouldn't be a problem. plus there is the little issue of finding them, there not rare because there expensive, there expensive because there rare. I at one point had raised almost three grand for an opening offer on any grail I could find, the problem they are locked down in collections. so unless a mega collector develops a gambling problem, you just don't find them. The Orange foom is probably sitting in a box in some Hasbro execs nephews garage, someone will buy it a garage sale, they'll ebay it, and five years from now you'll see it being sold on Toy Hunter for 11,000$... circle of life.

Agreed.

Kamatayan 10-21-2015 01:49 PM

So what are the main grail items in the $100 range? The one's that I can name off the top of my head are Baghead Spidey, Vision, the Marvel Digital Comics Exclusives, and certain SDCC sets.

Those are 1980's prices man...now, like Kyl said, it's what the figure is worth to the collector and how much he or she wants it.

So what grail item do most of the group want?

To me, it was always the three grails, Luke and the 2 BW's.

kylactus 10-21-2015 02:43 PM

Luke, the widow twins, the ant man/ moon knight two pack. these are the only true "grails" on the market that we can confirm exist.
these were never meant to reach the market therefore there grails.
others, none of which have ever been seen in anything but promo shots and displays would include: the X-Men Emma three pack, the scourge Val Thor three pack, a north star on a MU card, an orange foom. all other figures that I'm aware of would be rare, not really Grails.

That's a great find, congrats! As far as Solid Vision being the "holy grail" of the MU line? I'm going to respectfully disagree with you.

Let me show you...

Top 8 most wanted MU single carded (for MOC collectors) figures in my opinion:

8 Solid Vision
http://www.toyark.com/attachments/24...92815422-8.jpg
7 Scarlet Spider Upside-down With Scarlet Spider Name Plate
http://www.toyark.com/attachments/24...92815422-7.jpg
6 Dare Devil Red, Hand Down Nun-chuck Up
http://www.toyark.com/attachments/24...2815426-6.jpeg
5 Cable Hope With No Hope
http://www.toyark.com/attachments/24...92815426-5.jpg
4 Black Panther Black Eyes
http://www.toyark.com/attachments/24...2815426-04.jpg
3 Black Widow Short Red Hair

2 and 1 Black Widow Blonde and Luke Cage White Tank Top
http://www.toyark.com/attachments/24...92815426-2.jpg

List:

8 Solid Vision
7 Scarlet Spider Upside-down With Scarlet Spider Name Plate
6 Dare Devil Red Hand Down Nun-chuck Up
5 Cable Hope With No Hope
4 Black Panther Black Eyes
3 Black Widow Short Red Hair
2 Black Widow Blonde
1 Luke Cage White Tank Top

The BP Black Eyes and The DD's figs belong to ARKER Shawn Woodbeck,
I'm still in the hunt for the LC White Tank and BW Blonde and the rest I do own.

Here, some of you guys might remember this list I posted a while back. I didn't have the grails at the time...stock photos, Lol

3233rafael 10-21-2015 02:48 PM

^ I still stand by this list...but you have to be a MOC collector, otherwise it makes no sense to you.

Sorry. I used the term grail wrong. Just desirable figures that are in the $100 price range. There's a $120 Hill on eBay right now.

Thats surely just because they're rare. The figures themselves, were they wide released, wouldn't be worth shit.

I myself don't see the point in owning something just because it's rare, especially if it's a figure to keep carded. Unless I'm planning on selling it for a tasty profit, but then I'd be a "scalper".
Vision is an ugly figure on that buck, I don't remember ever seeing Luke in a white tank top, and the upside-down Scarlet Spider/Daredevil you listed have zero difference outside of some packing.

ukmu 10-21-2015 02:57 PM

The BACK YO THE FUTURE pics are ace! Well done.

I have never really been a fan of 6" stuff either. I like my play sets and vehicles too much.

Great Spidey pic Bmor.

I like the Super Helicarrier idea. Finding one at $200 isn't always easy though and shipping it twice ( once to a referee and again to a winner ) plus finding twenty people will be close to impossible. Not that it couldn't work. Just a lot of factors. Great idea though.... Maybe something smaller at first?

Nice call K Dub on where to put Emma. I think of her as a "baddie" though usually. We call them good guys and baddies as opposed to heroes and villains. I am really glad all the people are finally getting their Emma and Northstar.
I fear my upcoming figure will get lost now, Goldtron. I hope not as there is still a lot of life left in this line. Another 26+ months on the Hasbro contract with this scale. I know it ends in '18 sometime. Will be interesting to see where it goes from there when the time comes.

Also- love the doll comment PP.... I agree. Don't even get me going on 12" and stuff like Hot Toys with real leather jackets and such.

Most Hot Toys are definitely dolls, the ability to completely remove their clothes is the giveaway. If not dolls then they must certainly be labeled "tiny mannequins."

Exactly...it's because it's rare that's why they're worth so much and in order for a MOC single carded collector to say his or her collection is complete, then you MUST have these.

ukmu 10-21-2015 03:11 PM

Great list Raf. I am a true believer as always.

Also, now that all the rare Widow figures are together at some point in the future, can we get a group shot? This needs to exist if just for posterity sake.

Also, we have that Black Panther figure (at least It looks just like ours)and we opened it. Got it early on on American eBay. It was the most expensive figure I bought the first year of collecting.

Thanks amigo! If it wasn't for your help I'd probably never own the grails man. Forever grateful to you.

Just saw the TINY MANNEQUINS comment En Sabah and I let out a loud HA at 11:11pm cheers to that!

Jedi- the white shirt LC and blonde Widow came out together, as far as timing goes. They were never released only given to a few Hasbro employees. Some say as many as 60 exist some say closer to 20 combined. Less than 10 have surfaced, with only three white shirt Luke ( not to be confused with Cool Hand Luke) have been confirmed.

That means there are more pandas in Scotland than known white shirt Luke figures known. I was fortunate enough, after MANY long months searching, to help the great Raf procure him and a Widow. While MOC isn't everyone's bag, especially a complete completely completists MOC list, I sure am glad it exists! Without Raf, Woodbrck, Peter Parker and Kylactus this information could have easily slipped through and been lost forever.

There is just as much a difference, to those that collect them, to a hand up/hand down or matte/glossy figure as there is a difference to a red/yellow Lamborghini. Same car but completely different.

Your view is the norm though Jedi. And I meant no disrespect in any regard to your comment. In fact, most collectors (loose anyway) agree that matte/glossy isn't even a thing. I too used to think that. They are different though so it does matter.

I for one, am happy that list exists.
