I love this figure.

jayvee 11-06-2023 03:34 PM

I missed ordering Supergirl from Target originally. In the old days of usenet and rec.toys.actionfigures it was easy being on the torch list of good traders to get one at cost plus shipping, or I could get one through the 1 to 1 club. I figured my only option was ebay, so I have been waiting for the prices to drop a bit...lo and behold I check one final time with the Target app and my store has one left at $15 (on sale even). I ordered it for pick up and I got my Supergirl. Beautiful figure. Might have to repaint the legs a flesh tone, but it is beautiful. Man I love the internet.

Reminds me of the Toys R Us story where Kenner Aliens figures were being test marketed at ToysRUs in Cincinnati, Ohio. Not being in that city or state I figured my chances of getting them to be less than zero percent. Called the local ToysRUs, got a number for a TRU in Cincinnati, and as dumb as I'm sure it sounded, I live in another state and another city and I would just like to buy a complete set of your test market figures and have them shipped to me many many states over. Yeah, it worked.

[edited to add content] ---> Checked again late last night and one area Target had (5) Rebirth Supergirls at $15 a pop - and Knightfall Batman and Two Face Batman. Nice sale.

jayvee 11-07-2023 08:13 AM

If you would like to preorder the McFarlane Waveriderfigure, and you preorder now, they are having a sale $15.99 right now.

Scheduled for release Nov. 26. Order $30-35 worth of items with the same order and I think you qualify for free shipping.

In hand looks of the Batman and Robin wave including Freeze

Just ordered the set from amazon. Now, based on what we already got available to us, we just need Two-Face, Riddler, Forever Robin, Bane, Catwoman, and Joker.

Sadly, I get the impression we'll never see the latter two due Nicholson notoriously wanting ridiculous amounts for his likeness, and wondering the same about Pfeiffer, which might also explain why Marvel Legends hasn't given us Janet van Dyne, either.

Tony_Bacala 11-08-2023 10:12 AM

Clear Freeze:

tagmac 11-08-2023 10:18 AM

The head on Mr. Freeze looks amazing, but the rest of that figure looks like it was painted by a kindergartner. I think the color and detail could have been better, knowing what McFarlane is capable of.

deecee4 11-08-2023 10:29 AM

Yeah, adult collectible paintjob for the head and the rest of the body looks like it was painted as a kid's toy.

Raine24 11-08-2023 10:34 AM

If you don't mind paying ahead of time, McFarlane's store has all 4 in a bundle for $84.97, about $15 off retail. Code MTS10 can get you can additional 10% off as well.

That paint job is incredibly reminiscent of the Kenner version, TBH. I plan on chroming the silver plastic anyway, so I'm not too miffed about any of the shortcomings, I'm just glad this figure exists. The pauldrons being backward on all the promo shots is funny, though.

BB Shockwave 11-08-2023 10:41 AM

I dunno what I found less believable, that anyone would want Batman & Robin movie toys, or that McFarlane was deluded enough to make them. Maybe they want a wave of shelfwarmers? I have recommendations then, let's make figures from the CW Batwoman show next! Or Naomi!

The problem is it's basically not painted. That swirly silver plastic always looks faintly knock-off to me.

Anyway, otherwise decent looking wave for what it is. Funny we got Bat-nips, but no Bat-bulges.

This is the most exciting Multiverse wave since the line started, and one of the boldest "put up or shut up" moments ever for collectors clamoring for older media to be put into the line. I've got my fingers crossed for a second wave with ice armor suits, alt costume Ivy, and Bane BAF!

Then we can get into Forever, '89, Returns, Reeve Superman, all that good stuff. A wave of TV heroes with Shipp and Carter would be awesome as well!

Why is it that Clooney Batman doesn't get a soft goods cape as a single release but gets one in that Multiverse Batmen six-pack? Would consider buying it if he did.

We already got those versions of Flash and Wonder Woman, so I doubt they'd bring them back, at least yet. Trixter is really the only baddie worth making from the TV shows, and that's just because he was played by Mark Hamill and appeared on the Gustin version as well. NECA made a great Reeves Superman a while back, but I could see McFarlane making their own eventually, along with Helen Slater's Supergirl.

That’s what makes the 6-pack special. I’d be mad if both releases were the same. I wouldn’t have bought that multi-pack if they were. So many collectors want plastic capes or soft goods, now you get both. Mcfarlane knows how to make money.

StudioOneTwelve 11-08-2023 12:14 PM

This wave is so SO welcome. Never once wanted a full wave of McFarlane figures and this is us all FINALLY getting the figures we always wanted. I'm not a 1/6 collector and Mezco versions just wouldn't be fun to pose and play with so all around just a HELL YEAH and I can't wait for the Forever and 89/Returns waves. If McFarlane doesn't want to pay for a likeness he's just gonna get a close approximation and call it a day. Plenty of accurate Nicholson heads on the after market if you're feeling that strong about it.

Different scale and aesthetic for Mattel's Shipp & Carter so no conflict there, and they command hefty aftermarket prices despite sucking butt so there's clear demand, same for their utterly embarrassing Kilmer Batman.

Mark's Trickster, unfortunately, wore a different costume in every appearance so you'd have to commit to a very specific version. The first appearance suit would be easiest, just a bunch of tampo on a generic buck with Mark head and a cape.

IzzyTipsy 11-08-2023 12:54 PM

Feels like Ivy is a swapped in redhead sculpt and bare legs away from being a good classic Ivy. Suspect McFarlane will do that, too

ScottyHawkeye 11-08-2023 01:13 PM

I kind of love the fact that McFarlane made BAF wave based on the worst Batman movie ever made. I have no interest in the wave, but I can't help but love that it's a thing that exists.

God, I hope you're right. I'd love a Reeves Superman and Slater Supergirl.

And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make a Nicholson Joker and Bob the Goon.

Yeah... I would definitely love another attempt at Linda Carter WW. I have the Mattel one but it's pretty sad really and the likeness isn't great.

This wave is pure fire!!! The effects, the packaging… someone at McF loves B&R &
I am all here for it!!! Batgirl!! Finally!!!! Lol

As bad as that movie was, I guess nostalgia is a hell of a drug. I like this Batman and Robin wave, I'd so chrome Mr. Freeze once I get him. However, McFarlane likes to make boxed set or release single BAF with better paint/accessories, so part of me is waiting for that too.
